Elefant Records is pleased to introduce you to one of the most singular an versatile artists of this new decade: a composer, pianist, Mc, crooner, producer… under a single man called GONZALES. German label Kitty-Yo -which is also home of the majestic TARWATER- released in 2000 "Gonzales Uber Alles", the first album of this Canadian who lives in Berlin. This album is as funny, cheeky and iconoclast as its title suggests. It contains a crazy mixture of hip hop, jazz, lounge, French chanson… everything is possible in GONZALES’ crazy world.

This single includes four new tracks which combine GONZALES’ most dancey and uninhibited side with a weirder, more experimental edge. But in all cases the music is covered with a thin layer of good humour that makes everything very palatable and fresh. The queens of the dancehall are "Hawaii" and "Erotobot", lushy displays of revved-up instrumental hip hop, really endearing thanks to their catching sampled vocals.

"We ain’t dead" is featured by Paul PM, a Berlin-based puppet player who used to Mc in a band called FEVER (In Digital Hardcore Recordings, the label of ATARI TEENAGE RIOT). He belongs to what Kitty-Yo calls "an international network of supervillains" that usually help GONZALES in recordings and live sets.

One ot the most appealing aspects of GONZALES resides in his crazy live appearances, in which he can range from playing smooth piano pieces to turning himself into "the Woody Allen of rap", declairing himself "the worst Mc in the world". As a proof of his sensational live sets we include a live recorded track (with PEACHES, a female Kitty-Yo artist who is also causing a commotion due to her explicit sexy rap): "Seek pleasure" is featured by a flickering female voice that sounds as a radio interference disturbing a quiet and innocent lounge background, to end up melting in some bubbling sounds. No doubt it’s the most surprising and shocking moment of this single.
