As many of you already know, the first Saturday of every month is the day we celebrate Elefant Club in Madrid’s legendary bar, Siroco, located on 3 San Dimas Street. Siroco has been totally remodelled, to better suit their fantastic concerts and unforgettable DJ sessions, which are becoming more and more popular. Groups like THE SCHOOL, BAND À PART, FITNESS FOREVER, PAPA TOPO, LOS BONSÁIS, SINGLE, CORAZÓN, GUATAFÁN, CAPITÁN SUNRISE and DJs like Guille Milkyway, Pepito Prieto, Bob Stanley, and our very own Luis Elefant have already made stops on Siroco’s stage, making every single person in the audience twist and shout, in events that are already basically obligatory for anyone who loves the best pop. Nights like these get written indelibly in one’s memory.

We now have new, confirmed dates for the upcoming months. To start, on March 3rd we have the “Mad Madrid 5×25” party, where 5 groups from the capital city will play for 25 minutes each, with a range of groups from established ones that have already put out albums, like BLA, to Belén and Luis from L-KAN’s parallel project, to others that will soon form part of our “New Adventures in Pop” collection – as is the case with TEACHER TEACHER (a super new band formed by María (CHARADES), Cristina (WILD HONEY) y Guille (WILD HONEY, THE MITTENS) – and including some who already form a part of that collectio [ Read more ]

They are already old friends of our New Adventures in Pop collection, but we couldn’t resist the temptation to have them among us again. After that “No sé por que” that disappeared from the stores at the speed of light and which brought them so much recognition both in Spain and abroad, we now have “Una persona normal con gafas de metal”, the new single that enriches our special collection of little colored limited-edition vinyls. It has four marvelous songs, two of which are new and the last two of which are already known, although here in a different version, by the addicts of their demos.

Song: Los Chicos Hoy Saltarán A La Pista (LA CASA AZUL)

It took many months of work but we can finally announce, with much joy and satisfaction, the release of “L-FUN 45 (Summer of love)”, the first independent musical videogame for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, a fun application that will get all of the label’s fans excited. The videogame is full of the Elefant universe and our groups. It was created and developed by Dolores Entertainment, a young and promising company that develops mobile phone applications and videogames, and that shares Elefant’s spirit of independent work and passion for music. Dolores Entertainment, who recently celebrated their first anniversary as a company, started their voyage with more classic-styled games with a more direct dynamic, like “Vectron” or “Spanish Chiringuito”. Now, they are official providers for TV3 and they are working on some different, very interesting projects that we’ll be hearing about soon, but L-FUN 45 is their most ambitious project so far.

L-FUN 45 is an interactive musical, a game where the music isn’t just an excuse to smash buttons, but instead it tells us a love story. The love story begins with a break-up, and includes friendship and summertime adventures. The complete renovation of the mythical venue Siroco is big news. The venue is located on San Dimas, 3 in the legendary quarter of Malasaña in Madrid, an area which has always been a symbol and reflection of the music scene in the capital city. We are ecstatic to announce that in October, Elefant Club will be born inside of this distinguished environment. The first Saturday of each month we are organizing special nights where we can enjoy live acts and special guest DJs with set-lists filled with various pop gems, starting at 9:30 p.m. and ending at 3:00 a.m.

The inauguration will take place on October 1st with live acts from the Welsh group, THE SCHOOL, the duet from Madrid, BAND À PART. THE SCHOOL has been recording their new album this past summer and we are sure they are going to present a promising set with the inclusion of these new songs from their second album, along with some of their hits from their last album, “Loveless Unbeliever.” BAND À PART has been one of the best groups to come out of the Contempopránea Festival this year and their performance at the Indietrack Festival in England was an event in itself. Special guest DJs for this evening include Guille Milkyway and Luis Elefant.

The main motivation and energy we have here at Elefant Records, and we hope for many of our followers too, is excitement. And really, listening to these new groups, refreshing and full of magic, and offering them an avid public, wrapping them up in a delicious package and getting them ready to stand on their own two feet is something that helps us understand, among other things, why we’re here.

And that’s what happens with these new singles that are now new releases in our collection. To start with, we have the fantastical synth-pop of MILKNAUT, a Galician duo who will drive fans of NEW ORDER, KRAFTWERK, RHEINGOLD, DAF, GIORGIO MORODER, TELEX, OMD and EL AVIADOR DRO Y SUS OBREROS ESPECIALIZADOS wild with their first single “Gumboots Girl”. Another single that will also form a part of this release is the debut from ULTRANOL, which is the stage name of Alberto Iniesta, making playful, carefree electro-pop that is fresh and unclassifiable, surrounded by a collection of casiotones, sequencers and synthesizers. NATURE SET is a British urgent punk-pop group characterized by having Reenie Hollis, the ex-bassist of THE LONG BLONDES, among their ranks. After the first two releases from our new singles collection, PAPA TOPO and GUATAFÁN, sold out in just weeks, we’ve now got a new and anticipated batch of releases, with three, limited edition, color-vinyl singles. First, we have two new examples of the best pop made in this country, ZIPPER and BAND À PART, and second we have the first foreign release of the collection from the New Yorkers, ONWARD CHARIOTS, with songs that share the energy of TEENAGE FANCLUB, the elegance of CAMERA OBSCURA and the melodies of THE BEACH BOYS.
