TRACKLIST: 01 Per Te E Per Me  02 Una Notte Intera  03 Escúchame  04 Hold On To Love

We are still extracting gems from the last collaboration between Joe Moore and Cristina Quesada, which gave us that ultra-enjoyable album “Dentro Al Tuo Sogno”. And this time we have chosen “Per Te E Per Me” as the star of a new Digital Single that comes packed with extras. And why “Per Te E Per Me”, you askcategoría Because it perfectly embodies the spirit of an album dedicated to Italo Disco, with its innocent cunning, its rhythmical danceability and the velvety voice of Cristina in Italian. And to complete this package, we have a video by Daniel Cuenca who puts into images the profoundly eighties quality of this exercise, which falls somewhere between evocation, melancholy, and celebration, with those choreographies and duplicated images.

Three previously unreleased tracks, taken from the album’s recording sessions, are the cherry of top. “Una Notte Intera” is based on the version that Rita Pavone made of the James Last song “Games That Lovers Play”. “Escúchame” and “Hold On To Love” are compositions by Joe that have never been released before, and that abound in the idea of the album, the first with a lysergic production, dream-like and with lyrics by Cristina, and the second gets back to playing w [ Read more ]

“Think I Heard A Rumour” gave us a collaboration full of magic and chemistry. Joe Moore (THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS, Lia Pamina, JULIE ET JOE) brought the music, and Cristina Quesada brought the inspiration and her sweet, melodic voice. And now, once again, this duo is back to sowing the seeds in prolific fields full of unthinkable hits. And if on that album we found a songbook full of great techno-pop and disco hits with eighties airs, this new work is a total tribute to the Italo Disco sound, that artists like Giorgio Moroder, SAVAGE, HIPNOSIS, Gazebo, ROFO, CYBER PEOPLE, Silver PozzoliRyan Paris and so many others sent out into the world in the seventies and eighties. But what does this meancategoría It means the dance floor is spilling over, the lights are flashing, the vocoder is smoking and there is an explosion of epic melodies full of nostalgia.

Mixing English, Spanish and Italian, “Dentro Al Tuo Sogno” alternates the roboticized voices and stellar motifs of “Why Don’t You Call Mecategoría” and “Ya Nada Es Igual”, with dreamy ambiances, the kind we get excited about, like those on “Take Me In (To Let Me Go)” and “Italia” (here in its Italian version). The mysterious ambiance of “Primavera”, “Oh Johnny” and “The Only One” (which sometimes even takes us to our beloved LIO) open into luminous choruses. And [ Read more ]

If just a few weeks ago we were discovering new songs by Joe Moore for Cristina Quesada on the “Primavera” single, this new single, “The Only One”, confirms that the next album from our Pineapple Princess (“Dentro Al Tuo Sogno”, out in June) will be totally in the key of Italo disco. Fat bass, frequency-saturated keyboards, cushions of sound as thick as polyurethane and galloping eighties stylings to work us up to the maximum. This song evokes the greats of this sound like Katy Gray, SAVAGE and Gazebo, and it is the star of a single that comes with two huge gifts. The first is a previously unreleased track that will not be included on this album, “Love Transmission”, a new exercise where the bass once again carries the lead vocals, with explosive strength that takes us to a meeting point between the sweetness of Rose and the out of this world amazement of Giorgio Moroder and CYBER PEOPLE. Darker and more porous, but just as evocative. And the second is a video by Daniel Cuenca which captures the spirit perfectly: neon lights, sparkling dresses, dancing and night-time. Why not say it – it’s a personal look at the “Flashdance” spirit. All this to open the door for an album that promises endless nights of pleasure and dreaminess, capable of mixing perspiration, fantasy and happiness.

TRACKLIST: 01 Primavera  02 Be My Baby  03 Italia (English Version)

If the collaboration between the velvety voice of Cristina Quesada and the overflowing creativity of Joe Moore (THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS, JULIE ET JOE) has already given us a handful of singles from “Think I Heard A Rumour”, get ready for a feast of what is to come. The tandem is back with an exercise in high-voltage Italo Disco. As an advance for “Dentro Al Tuo Sogno”, their upcoming album, we have a Digital Single full of juicy material, starring one of the songs that will be on the album: “Primavera”.

The song lays out all the sumptuousness of the sound taken to greatness by names like Giorgio Moroder, SAVAGE or Katy Gray. The thing is, Joe Moore has managed to find the mystery and the very special color of the melodies of these artists he has soaked up. “Primavera” makes this clear, with its rhythmic-ness, its deep basses and synthesized lines, creating a shady ambiance that hides the underlying vitality, which is perfectly reflected in Cristina’s lyrics: a song for spring, as a metaphor for the need to escape from dark moments and contexts, swinging in the luminosity of the chorus.

The single also has two songs that won’t be on the album. The first is a seductive version of “Be My Baby” that Lenny Kravitz wrote for Vanessa Paradis, burying the northern-soul in layers of synt [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01 Dancing Tonight  02 Dancing Tonight (Nos Miran Remix)

Another single. The thing is, “I Think I Heard A Rumour”, the album that brought together the creative forces of Cristina Quesada and Joe Moore, is full of ultra-danceable bull’s eyes. “Dancing Tonight”, our protagonist, melancholic and heartbreaking, and which we had already described as the perfect mix between “Words” by F.R. DAVID and “Don’t Cry Tonight” by SAVAGE, also enjoys echoes of COLLEGE and CHROMATICS, and even a very contained DAFT PUNK. “Dancing Tonight” is also included on the soundtrack of the hit Netflix show “Élite”, where it was used in the fourth episode of season 3, which was released with huge success all over the world this past March.

This Digital Single also includes a very special gift – a fantastic remix by Sergio from NOS MIRAN, which pushes the more house facet of the song. And finally, this release is completed with a marvelous video directed by Pooley (Woom Studio), who once again shows off the imagination and chromatic taste for animation and audiovisual collage that were so clear in the incredible videos for LE SUPERHOMARD and A GIRL CALLED EDDY. Here again he is able to give that organic sixties touch to a colorful video full of eighties iconography, in which we sneak inside of Cristina herself’s bedroom. It is an absolute delicacy.

We continue to pull hits from an album that is packed full of them, and the thing is, the collaboration between Joe Moore (THE PERFECT KISS, THE YEARNING) and Cristina Quesada has turned out to be a practically infallible hit factory. And since we can expect nothing less, the title track for the album, “Think I Heard A Rumour” is further proof. Impeccable euro-disco with luminous choruses that overflow with youthfulness, energy and decisiveness. This song is very well accompanied on this Digital Single by two surprising elements. The first, a video by Daniel Cuenca – an authentic exercise in interior design, somewhere between kitsch and dreaminess, between sophisticated lights and the impossible colors of neon at night. This is a tremendously visual work, full of mirror play, symmetries and effects. The second surprise is a version, produced by Joe himself, of THE BANGLES’ “Manic Monday”. A more danceable version, but that maintains that eighties spirit that made this hit the anthem of a generation for so many lovers of that fantastic decade.

Further proof of one of those composter/performer tandems marked by the magic of the amazing discoveries that come out of such a relationship. They are not rumours. It is a danceable reality.

“Think I Heard A Rumour” has been a total change of direction in Cristina Quesada’s career. The change in sound, the compositions by Joe Moore (THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS, Lia Pamina) and a new, more sophisticated image have made us happy to celebrate this new stage in her career. And “Love At Third Sight” is definitely one of the songs with the most to celebrate. A blast of ultra-melodic disco-pop with a super addictive chorus, that we are bringing to you with a fantastic video directed by Daniel Cuenca (LA CASA AZUL, THE PERFECT KISS, RUSH WEEK, FITNESS FOREVER…). It has an esthetic that is Japanese (a culture which has made a significant impact on the stars of this album), exuberantly colorful, bright and energetic.

And to top things off, this release will include a previously unreleased track written by Joe Moore, at the level of “Love At Third Sight”. “Nothing Moves You Like A Melody” makes the dance floor tremble with one of those songs that is an ode to music, both lyrically and sonically. BANANARAMA, PET SHOP BOYS, Kylie Minogue, SAINT ETIENNE, all in a row. A euro-disco hit and further proof that Joe is living a moment of infinite inspiration.

A few weeks ago, we released that advance Single called “Hero”. Cristina Quesada is back on the record label scene with something new, and with a surprising new team. The thing is, Joe Moore (THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS, Lia Pamina) has written, arranged and produced almost all of the songs on her second album, “Think I Heard A Rumour”. The album brings together Joe’s infinite love of music and Cristina Quesada’s freshness and sweetness, and the result is a collection of songs that need (and deserve) to be carefully and specifically commented on individually.

To start things off, we have the title track for the album, which puts all the cards on the table. “Think I Heard A Rumour” is a eurodisco hit, with a NEW ORDER bass and a SAINT ETIENNE chorus. Everyone will be playing it. It’s one of those songs that makes your heart beat faster right in the middle of the dance floor without knowing what it is you are falling in love with. Then comes “Hero” and the dance floor is still on fire. Unrepentant rhythms and dreamy melodies. “Hero” is an instant classic that moves between the PET SHOP BOYS’ most danceable hits, the Japanese pop of Tommy February6, the earliest recordings of THE SOUND OF ARROWS and ABBA’s catchiest melodies. The formula in the eighties seemed so simple and so effective… Why have so many people forgotten ití

“Think I Heard A Rumour” is a surprising album in so many ways. First, because of Cristina Quesada’s vocal and artistic development. Second, because of the chemistry that arose in the production with Joe Moore (THE YEARNING) and third, because of the turn toward electronic pop, at the same time as the one Joe Moore himself took on his precious project THE PERFECT KISS. And it is a surprise full of surprises. Like “Estar A Tu Lado”, the song that Ana Fernández-Villaverde (LA BIEN QUERIDA) wrote for Cristina for this album and which is now being used as the second advance Single for this anticipated new album, “Think I Heard A Rumour”. It is a song that clearly shows the mark of its composer and that acquires sweet nuances with the electronic pop base constructed by Joe Moore. But what’s more, this Digital Single is accompanied by a delicious video directed by Daniel Cuenca and a previously unreleased track that brings us back to the topic of surprises. It is nothing other than an italo-disco style revamp of the song “Y Descubrir Que Te Quiero” by the Mexican singer Yuri, belonging to her eponymous album released by Hispavox in 1983. The album was created by the Hispanic label with the participation of various Spanish composers. Specifically, this song is the work of Ignacio Ballesteros (author and producer of songs by Raffaella Carrá, Toquinho and Raphael, among many others) and Rafael Trabucchelli [ Read more ]

It has been close to four years since her first album, “You’re The One” and about six since that unforgettable version of “Pineapple Princess” that got Cristina Quesada’s career at Elefant Records started, with that 7” Single for our “New Adventures In Pop” collection. But time doesn’t pass in vain, and Cristina is back, more mature, with something radically different than that ukulele that so identified her. This time, synth-pop, italo-disco, euro-pop and techno-pop are the parameters that guide her new songs, which this time have a collaborator/producer/arranger/composer to die for: nothing more and nothing less than Joe Moore himself (THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS, Lia Pamina), who is in the process of making the adjective “prolific” sound insufficient.

With this, amidst synthesizers, keyboards and eighties drum machines, we have “Hero”, the first advance Single of her second album “Think I Heard A Rumour”, and a good simple of the focus of the album – disco hits from the end of the 80s and beginning of the nineties, with complex harmonic developments and impossible turns that, according to Moore, “push the choruses even higher”. It’s an instant classic included among SAINT ETIENNE at their most danceable, the Japanese pop of Tommy February6, the earliest recordings of THE SOUND OF ARROWS or PET SHOP BOYS’ poppiest songs. “You Are The One” is a delicacy – moving and enjoyable. Cristina Quesada and her delicious voice give us a good handful of extraordinary minutes on this first album, which is a diverse and incredible collection, with a ton of covers and some original songs. The album is lucky enough to include a fantastic collaboration with Javi and Coral from BAND À PART and Luis Elefant. Cristina uses the songs that she has hand-selected by other artists and creates her own world with them, one that is as delicate as her way of singing is. And that is how she gives us this “You Are The One”, which is beyond a shadow of a doubt a huge delight to even the most stubborn music lovers.

Opening the album with a cover of “Just Like Honey”, revealing the similarities of THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN song with Phil Spector’s “Be My Baby”, is like betting on the winning horse right from the start. The song is two minutes full of intensity and sweetness, arranged with the wisdom of a goldsmith. After that comes “Ya No Puedo Más”, a previously unreleased song by our beloved NIZA, which was recorded along with the demos for that “Canciones De Temporada” and now stands here as an acoustic folk-pop delicacy with delicious arrangements. And since she dared to sing the first song in English, only to jump to Spanish for the next one, the third song on the albu [ Read more ]
