Elefant Records continues to be the protagonist of the soundtracks of many of the new releases on video-streaming platforms. And this time in style. “In Love All Over Again” is the new series by Carlos Montero, creator of series such as “Élite” (which has more than 30 Elefant songs on its soundtrack), “The Mess You Leave Behind” (with 11 Elefant songs in its only season) or “Física Y Química”.

The first season of “In Love All Over Again” has eight episodes and has been released on Netflix last February 14th with the participation of Georgina Amorós, Franco Masini, Carlos González, Guillermo Toledo, Silvia Abril and many more actors and actresses that complete an incredible cast, and the direction of, among others, Carlota Pereda (currently on the front page for the award-winning “Piggy”) or Mateo Gil (“Nobody Knows Anybody”, “Blackthorn”, “The Minions of Midas”). On “In Love All Over Again” we can listen to up to 19 songs that have been released on our label, making up a soundtrack that features artists such as FAMILY, LA CASA AZUL, LA BIEN QUERIDA, JUNIPER MOON, LA MONJA ENANA, NOSOTRÄSH, LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE, COOPER and many more. Every year comes with new challenges, with new hopes and excitements, new albums, new groups. But it is also comforting to look back at the end and see if we did everything we planned, and if all our plans met our expectations. And of course, they did. Albums that should have really taken off and others that did unexpectedly. But above all, one-of-a-kind artists, the kind we believe in so deeply, and who continue to surprise and excite us. 2022 was the year when PUTOCHINOMARICÓN went above and beyond all the limits of a conceptual, philosophical and anti-philosophical, and stylistically groundbreaking album. The year when Bobby Wratten, with his LIGHTNING IN A TWILIGHT HOUR, reached the skies again and was recognized by critics and audiences the way he deserves to be recognized, with a series of very special, very limited-edition releases. The year when MARINITA PRECARIA and AMOR BUTANO released full-lengths that proved how special and unique what they do is. The year we danced to the beat of Italo Disco with Cristina Quesada (with the blessings of Joe Moore). And when Maria Rodés broke our hearts with her trembling voice and indescribable delicacy. We just finished celebrating 25 years of Elefant Records and we are already on the verge of turning 30. Time flies, but luckily, but not for nothing. Really exciting new groups, like CARIÑO, TRONCO, PUTOCHINOMARICÓN, THE LAST DETAIL, RUSH WEEK, LE SUPERHOMARD, Lia Pamina, AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, SOFT REGIME, NELEONARD, NOS MIRAN and so many more have enriched a catalogue that is still a celebration of important releases by LA CASA AZUL, LA BIEN QUERIDA, PAPA TOPO, LINDA GUILALA, THE SCHOOL, COOPER, THE PRIMITIVES, Cristina Quesada, BMX BANDITS, SINGLE, HELEN LOVE, THE YEARNING, LOS BONSÁIS, FITNESS FOREVER, ALPACA SPORTS, BAND À PART and Giorgio Tuma, to name just a few.

And it has been such a pleasure to look back in these five years with that collection of re-releases that let us relive the feelings we had when we released some of the songs that still make up the label’s – and, luckily, a lot of people’s –

collective imagination. We look back with the conviction that we are still maintaining intact that young, fresh spirit that led us to release, in those first years of the label, bands like: FAMILY, CAMERA OBSCURA, LE MANS, LOS FLECHAZOS, NOSOTRÄSH, TREMBLING BLUE STARS, SPRING, HEAVENLY, Carlos Berlanga, VAINICA DOBLE, NIZA, JUNIPER MOON and so many other that it would be nearly impossible to name them all in these few lines.

We are almost finished with the series of re-releases we have been putting out for many months now, in honor of our 25th anniversary in 2014. The series has included such distinguished names as FAMILY, LE MANS, LA CASA AZUL, CAMERA OBSCURA, NIZA, TREMBLING BLUE STARS, THE SCHOOL, JUNIPER MOON, LOS FLECHAZOS, COOPER and LA BIEN QUERIDA, among others. To almost bring things to a close, we are simultaneously releasing a series of exquisite rereleases.

To start with, we are going to release that FUGU Single again that we originally released in 1998, and it is especially relevant because Mehdi Zannad has just released a marvelous album on Elefant in collaboration with Erin Moran (A GIRL CALLED EDDY) under the name THE LAST DETAIL. This Single has been a collector’s item for a long time now, and we are releasing it this time as a 300-copy numbered-limited-edition white 10” vinyl, and it will include the songs that were on the Split that FUGU released in 1997 with STEREOLAB as well as their first EP from 1996. There are 12 songs rereleased for the occasion. It’s wonderful.

What’s more, the first album, now out of print, from the Italians, FITNESS FOREVER, will also be re-released – where we will remember their orchestral pop and Mediterranean airs – on a transparent red vinyl, 300-copy numbered-limited-edition, which will also include the two songs that appeared on that also out of print “Mondo Fitness EP”.

As many of you already know, the first Saturday of every month is the day we celebrate Elefant Club in Madrid’s legendary bar, Siroco, located on 3 San Dimas Street. Siroco has been totally remodelled, to better suit their fantastic concerts and unforgettable DJ sessions, which are becoming more and more popular. Groups like THE SCHOOL, BAND À PART, FITNESS FOREVER, PAPA TOPO, LOS BONSÁIS, SINGLE, CORAZÓN, GUATAFÁN, CAPITÁN SUNRISE and DJs like Guille Milkyway, Pepito Prieto, Bob Stanley, and our very own Luis Elefant have already made stops on Siroco’s stage, making every single person in the audience twist and shout, in events that are already basically obligatory for anyone who loves the best pop. Nights like these get written indelibly in one’s memory.

We now have new, confirmed dates for the upcoming months. To start, on March 3rd we have the “Mad Madrid 5×25” party, where 5 groups from the capital city will play for 25 minutes each, with a range of groups from established ones that have already put out albums, like BLA, to Belén and Luis from L-KAN’s parallel project, to others that will soon form part of our “New Adventures in Pop” collection – as is the case with TEACHER TEACHER (a super new band formed by María (CHARADES), Cristina (WILD HONEY) y Guille (WILD HONEY, THE MITTENS) – and including some who already form a part of that collectio [ Read more ]
