The complete renovation of the mythical venue Siroco is big news. The venue is located on San Dimas, 3 in the legendary quarter of Malasaña in Madrid, an area which has always been a symbol and reflection of the music scene in the capital city. We are ecstatic to announce that in October, Elefant Club will be born inside of this distinguished environment. The first Saturday of each month we are organizing special nights where we can enjoy live acts and special guest DJs with set-lists filled with various pop gems, starting at 9:30 p.m. and ending at 3:00 a.m.

The inauguration will take place on October 1st with live acts from the Welsh group, THE SCHOOL, the duet from Madrid, BAND À PART. THE SCHOOL has been recording their new album this past summer and we are sure they are going to present a promising set with the inclusion of these new songs from their second album, along with some of their hits from their last album, “Loveless Unbeliever.” BAND À PART has been one of the best groups to come out of the Contempopránea Festival this year and their performance at the Indietrack Festival in England was an event in itself. Carlos Valderrama and crew gave us one of the most marvelous pop discs we had heard in a long time last year; taking influence from the great Italian pop singers of the sixties and seventies, and combining it with modern influences like BELLE & SEBASTIAN and LA CASA AZUL, the made a fierily lit disc, full of dreamlike arrangements, tremendously immediate and inevitable melodies. Now we get two compositions in green color vinyl, limited edition format as a continuation of that great debut album. On side A we have “Mondo Fitness”, a song that reminds us of the Italian group’s ability to make indubitable hits while, at the same time, filling them with elegance and delicacy. Hello Everyone!Another year has passed, a special year for us as we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the label, and we did it the best way we know how: releasing a ton of good music. We put out 22 new releases in total – 13 albums and 9 singles. It was an intense year in every way it could be and a year in which a little bit of everything that can happen, happened. And despite all of the problems that the music world is going through we managed to survive another year and we are full of hope and excitement about 2010.

We are aware of the requests and the things that fans of the label are most worried about and we are working hard on all of it in order to try to have everything organized and updated in the first few months of the new year, so that it is easier to be up to date with everything that’s happening with our groups and our label. We’ve been working on the new Elefant website for the last few weeks, a new website that will maintain a similar design to the old website, but that will be much easier to use, much more intuitive, faster, and clearer. Yes, we are getting rid of Real Audio and you’ll be able to listen to the songs without having a player installed, and you’ll be able to change quickly and simply from the site in Spanish to the site in English from any page. ELEFANT RECORDS TURNS 20 [1989-2009]

We’re going to England to celebrate our 20th anniversary at the Indietracks Festival, and the same weekend in Spain the ContemPopranea Festival will also be celebrating our birthday by paying homage to our label!

The Indyspensable festival in Madrid gave us the incredible gift of dedicating an entire day to Elefant this past June 12th, and other festivals like Fuengirola Pop Weekend or Lemon Pop will pay special homage to our label in their next editions of the festivals.

We want to thank everyone for having always been behind us! We feel really happy to have lasted all these years with our philosophy and way of understanding the music world, helping groups that excite us, who are on the sidelines of trends and the industry.
