Elefant Records has always had an important presence and recognition in Japan. Bands like LE MANS or LOS FLECHAZOS saw their records licensed there, and were considered as true stars among the many European pop lovers in Japan.
Now, thousands of Elefant Records’ Japanese fans will have the chance to meet and enjoy their favourite pop music by attending the Elefant parties which will be happening this summer at different points of the Shibuya district in Tokyo.
As a part of the activities organized around ExpoAichi 2005, the international Expo taking place in Japan this year, club CAY (at Spiral Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo) will host on July 23rd and 24th two free entrance theme nights dedicated to Elefant Records: two twin parties featuring live shows by LA CASA AZUL and NIZA, plus DJ sessions by DJ Polar and screenings of videoclips from the label’s discography.
As many of you already know, NIZA had recently announced their split, but the enormous success their album has experienced in Japan (where it has been licensed to Rambling Records) has forced this one-off reunion of the couple, which will only do these two important dates in Tokyo. Roberto and Silvia will also attend interviews with the Japanese press in order to promote their record.
Apart from these dates included in the ExpoAichi activities, we will take advantage of our visit and will also organize other parties in the Japanese capital: the first one, already confirmed for July 17th at Shibuya’s clu [ Read more ]

Very soon we’re leaving for Japan, where we will hold a few Elefant parties in Tokyo. As we recently informed, as a part of the celebrations organized for ExpoAichi 2005, club CAY (at Spiral Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo) will hold on July 23rd and 24th two club nights dedicated to Elefant Records: two twin parties in which there will be live shows by LA CASA AZUL and NIZA every night, DJ Polar will DJ, and videoclips from the label’s history will be screened.
Apart from these official parties, included on ExpoAichi’s activities, to make the most of our visit we have organized two other parties in Tokyo: the first one, organized with the help of our friends at the Apple Crumble record shop, will be held on July 17th at club CHU! in Shibuya (the trendiest district in the world), featuring sessions by DJ Polar and DJ Guille Milkyway (LA CASA AZUL) sharing the decks.
The second party will be on July 22nd at club AOI HEYA (a few minutes walk from Shibuya station), and it will take place from midnight until five in the morning. In this party we will enjoy up to five live shows by METRO, APRILS, ADVANTAGE LUCY, MINISKIRT and Dr. USUI (MOTOCOMPO). We are specially illusioned to see a live show by METRO, a Japanese duo of which we have already released a single on Elefant, and who are currently working on new recordings to be released on our label.Along with these shows, before they start and in between shows there will be some DJ sessions by LAS DONETTES (an all-girl ban [ Read more ]

Japanese label Passed Out Recordings will release by the end of June the compilation “This Planets Rolls”, which bears the appropriate subtitle of “International pop compilation: 13 artists, 8 countries, 4 languages”. Among those four languages there’s Spanish, and among those eight countries there’s Spain and Argentina, countries of origin for such Elefant Records artists as LA MONJA ENANA, LA CASA AZUL and ENTRE RÍOS. “Los días de Perky Pat”, “El sol no brillará nunca más” and “Salven las sirenas” are respectively the tracks included of each band in a compilation where they share space with people like Australia’s ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI, USA’s STARLIGHT MINTS or Japan’s ELEKIBASS, among other Italian, Swedish and German outfits. Elefant Records has always been very active and present in the international pop scene, and this is a good example of it. [ Read more ]

Elefant Records presents:
Friday 4 February 2005, Madrid
Video Projection "Como un fan" LA CASA AZULDirected by: Domingo González

Next friday 4 February, Ocho y Medio Club in Madrid presents the official showing of "Como un fan", the new video clip by LA CASA AZUL."Como un fan" ("Like a fan") is nothing but a clear statement coming from a band like LA CASA AZUL, deeply fascinated by pop culture in its most colourful shapes, and this first ever public broadcast means also a great party, a celebration of pop music as a way of life that you shouldn’t miss.
The video, shot during the past summer, starts introducing the five band members, one by one, and then we meet them in different day-to-day situations: playing sports (skating, in the swimming pool, playing tennis); at home (having breakfast, reading, listening to music); at the highschool. Afterwards we will see them perform at an imaginary TV show (Canal HI-FI), surrounded by many crazed fans, mad about their songs, who dance over circular platforms as seen so many times in the footage from the 60’s. The tribute to the aesthetics of pop’s golden age is complete with the wink to the Beatles’ "A hard day’s night", with the band being chased around the city by their fanatic followers.

One of the most successful movies in the Spanish theatres this next Christmas will surely be a comedy entitled "El Asombroso Mundo de Borjamari y Pocholo", especially due to a cast of actors including Santiago Segura and Willy Toledo, two of the most famous current Spanish comedians.
The movie is about two posh kids from the 80´s who don´t want (or don´t know how) to grow up, and so the soundtrack features a selection of the main pop hits in the Spanish 80´s, the years internationally known as the "movida" in Madrid: MECANO, HOMBRES G, DUNCAN DHU, OLÉ OLÉ, UN PINGÜINO EN MI ASCENSOR, LOS NIKIS. Besides from that, the soundtrack includes a few more songs composed for the occasion by musician Miguel Malla (MASTRETTA), and a guest slot by Elefant Records act LA CASA AZUL: the song "Chicle Cosmos", taken from their first album, "El Sonido Efervescente de La Casa Azul". Popland and Cinemaspop are two stores (actually three, because Popland has two different premises) from the Malasaña area in Madrid, but they both provide half Spain and abroad with aesthetic pleasures. In Popland, an enormous variety of accessories, garnishing, furniture, records and pop memorabilia on the whole can be found, whereas in Cinemaspop, pop culture comes on the top of movie going and cinema love. Two colouristic concepts with a passionate interest for pop’s different sides, that were to meet Elefant Records’ music.
Both stores have just released the album "Popland 25 hit parade", including that number of successful songs from Elefant Records catalogue: COOPER, LA CASA AZUL, CAMERA OBSCURA, BERLANGA, LE MANS, HEAVENLY or JUNIPER MOON, among others, playing the perfect soundtrack to the lush aesthetic of this retro consumption’s paradise.

From the origins of pop music, children’s tv shows have often taken the lead absorbing new tendencies and new artists of sparkling and colouristic willingness. From THE MONKEES to SUPERGRASS, along with the legendary Spanish tv show "La Bola de Cristal", kids from all decades have danced, sung and laughed with songs also enjoyed by the adults. Now Guille Milkway, LA CASA AZUL’s composer and producer, have just composed the brand new ZONA DISNEY tv show’s theme (Mondays and Saturdays on TVE1 / DISNEY CHANNEL): "Vente a Zona Disney", which is also the theme in Portugal (with its own Portuguese translation). The theme is performed on its tv version by Yanira, Natalia, Jimmy, Sergio and Gonzalo, the five teenagers who lead this popular tv show, but will also count in a future with another version, performed for its part by another cheerful and bright teenagers: LA CASA AZUL. “Momentos perdidos” shouldn´t be seen as the usual compilation, nor a balance of the most representative stuff from the last years: we only expect to bring you a collection of delightful songs that, due to different reasons, were hidden in a record or never came to be published.

The World was ready. We fell in love, flew, danced, we were happy with LA CASA AZUL. It1s been more than three years. "El sonido efervescente de La Casa Azul" filled our lives and changed them forever. But the fact is that they came like a hurricane. They arrived, struck our lives and left. We never knew if Virginia, Sergio, David, Clara y Óscar would come back one day or if that revolutionary EP would go down lonely (even forgotten) in history. In fact, we even doubted that they had really existed anytime.
So, stop the world again! La Casa Azul returns to certify that they were not just an illusion. In your hand there’s an album that will touch you deeply again. You are going to hear the most beautiful songs you can imagine. This album will lift you up to Venus. Their own lives may have changed, but they still sing and play like an angel: from ye-ye to psych-pop, from folk to hustle, from A&M sound to tambourine sound, but always remaining faithful to the sparkling sound of LA CASA AZUL. If you enjoyed them three years ago, today they’ll [ Read more ]
