You could think that LISASINSON’s frenetic activity had led to Míriam’s solo project, LABORDE, taking a break, but really all of that activity was what let her get back to it. This new single, “No Vull”, started with guitars and has slowly taken the shape Míriam feels so comfortable with. Written together with Dani Martínez, “No Vull” is the first song LABORDE has written in her native language, Valenciano. The song is about that moment when you are starting to get to know someone and everything is new and you feel like your floating on a cloud. It’s an exercise in danceable hyperpop with an epic europop chorus and maximum feeling, with one eye on great contemporary artists like MushkaaVen’nusSandra Monfort and Ariox. As proof of this transition, this single comes with an acoustic version of “No Vull”, more delicate and intimate, closer and more emotional, and a music video directed by Polígono that is pure expressionism, a panoramic image of colors, lights and shadows, with Míriam at the center. Our star is overflowing with creativity right now. Let’s enjoy it.

We were just discovering what Míriam was capable of in her solo career as LABORDE, beyond LISASINSON, when she released her third single with a double A-side where she began to show us her collaboration with the Toxic Pop collective – specifically with CIBERCHICO, LEFTEE and RARE. One of these collaborations was “No Te Vayas Aún”, a playful, super fun and tremendously clever song. From there, it has all been big news, inimitable songs and noteworthy surprises. And now this new release is here and our heads are spinning. Because LABORDE is re-releasing “No Te Vayas Aún” in a new, barely recognizable version. With just one guitar, her voice and subtle cushions of effects with her own vocal lines. This time, TURIAN BOY was in charge of strengthening something we barely knew to make out in the first version: the pain and sadness. The video, directed by Miguel Yubero, places this aspect at the forefront: night-time, at a lost bus stop that looks like it’s in the middle of nowhere, with the bus stop light as the only lighting, Míriam pulls out her guitar and sings the song – pure bare emotions. This release helps build up an artist who until now we have barely been able to measure up in the LABORDE songbook and confirms her as a songwriter and (even more) multi-faceted performer with so much to say, and so many tools on hand to excite us.

Míriam LABORDE is unstoppable. It was just yesterday that we were talking about her latest single with VALVERDINA and RARE, that powerful “Vampirita”, and we already have our hands on a new single, this time with TURIAN BOY, who she wrote the magnificent “Llámame” with. “Flotando” is a song that Míriam and Álex wrote in the middle of the pandemic and that has continued to shape-shift from the initial hyperpop (which has been defined as one of the singer’s trademarks) to a more powerful form, closer to her more recent songs, that somehow connect to the punk-pop of her LISASINSON. The song stands out once again thanks to Míriam’s ability to make perfect, immediate, exciting choruses that are full of energy. It’s spectacular; after listening just once we can’t stop singing it. The song is about people who come and go in our lives, and especially about everything they touch along the way. To top it off, Míriam herself made the cover and the lyric video. She is an artist who continues to show how wide her range is, how versatile she is, and how incredibly fast she works. And best of all is that we can’t help but think about everything that we will see from her in the future.

LABORDE keeps on adding more to that unusual collection of singles full of surprising and diverse collaborations. It is turning out to be quite varied, and full of hits. We have a new one here now, with VALVERDINA (María from CARIÑO) and RARE. All together, they give us a highly addictive cocktail with halos of punk-pop and production work full of surprises from RARE, who is back at the technical controls (production, mixing and mastering) after that collaboration with LABORDE and CIBERCHICO for “Estoy Por Ti”, but this time with a different register, more organic and powerful. There is a catchy chorus, carefree lyrics, and a video that oozes hedonism, parties and freedom, under the direction of Enrique Tarazona, a regular collaborator from Valencia’s Toxic Pop collective and the person specifically in charge of videos for LEFTEE, RARE and CIBERCHICO, among others. LABORDE’s agile and slippery phrasing combines perfectly with VALVERDINA’s sweet tone in a clear and open, direct and burning metaphor. Another bull’s eye. These current times are signaling new ways of working and writing, and LABORDE is keeping a devilishly fast pace, jumping from style to style, combining rhythms, sounding different and unique each time, and putting out a ton of singles and collaborations. Multifaceted collaborations and productions are an identifying mark of the advance releases of new songs from Míriam as LABORDE. Míriam is also the singer and guitarist of LISASINSON, and at the end of 2020 she released her first single as LABORDE, her most personal project. This new Digital Single, the fifth in her discography, stands out with a new collaboration with LEFTEE. A member of the Valencian collective Toxic Pop and with a new album just out (“Al Fondo Del Bar”), LEFTEE does more spectacular production work on this “Quererte Mal”. Somewhere between hyperpop and fancy trap, between brutal honesty and melodic sweetness. The tandem formed by Míriam and Dani has so much chemistry seeping out of every pore; they build generational anthems (like they did before with “No Te Vayas Aún”, their first collaboration), and they establish themselves as a sensitive, emotional, wrenching voice that at the same time is proud, non-conformist and rebellious. “Quererte Mal” is a trip to the hell of toxic, obsessive, possessive relationships, with deep, short kettle drum beats like something pounding in your chest, and ethereal arpeggios like highways to heavens that are a means of escape. Poor Effort, who works with 3D and audiovisuals, is responsible for the cover art and the lyric video.

The singles keep coming, in this surprising collection of songs, called upon to represent a [ Read more ]

Míriam LABORDE, the singer and guitar player from LISASINSON, continues at a frenetic rate of activity, collaborating with figures from the scene in Valencia who are leaders of the vanguard sound, who she lends her marvelous vocal lines to, and her unmistakable voice. This time she is working with NAWAN, who she wrote “Tranqui, No Llores Más” with, and where the producer plays with dense eighties-style and dark synth-pop sounds along the lines of CHROMATICS, CHVRCHES, GRIMES and KAVINSKY, which our star adds a catchy and agile vocal line to. The result is powerful and the barely two and a half minutes are not enough. You have to listen to it again. And again. Let’s see if anyone can resist a song like this.

Pépe, who took care of the mixing and mastering (as he has done on some of the more recent LABORDE songs) from his studios in Alboraia (Valencia), has to be given credit for an important part of the sound. The art on the cover and in the lyric video for the song were handled by NADA DABUTI.

This effervescent moment for LABORDE and her countless collaborations are starting to give shape to a multifaceted figure, capable of assimilating different sounds from different eras, but always with a significant modern filter, raising the flag of current sounds, although the most important thing is that she does it with a huge dose of excitement. Right now, it is impossible for us to predict what an artist in the midst of such a hi [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01 Estoy Por Ti (Feat. Ciberchico & Rare)  02 No Te Vayas Aún (Feat. Leftee)

It feels like just a few days ago that we heard the first solo songs by Míriam, the singer and guitarist for LISASINSON. With these new songs, she has made perfectly clear her intentions to inhabit very different musical parameters. Her alliance for this new Digital Single with CIBERCHICO, RARE and LEFTEE, all members of the Valencian collective Toxic Pop, have made sparks fly and magic happen. Hyperpop, fancy trap, futurepop, europop… The cocktail is being mixed, and out of the shaker, a few radically danceable, generational anthems have been poured. But let’s take it step by step, because there is some back story here.

It all began back in October, when Pablo (CIBERCHICO) met Míriam (LABORDE) on Instagram (it is no less appropriate even though it’s typical). There are musical overlaps and they decide to work together. They have to meet at CIBERCHICO’s house, where Pablo (RARE) and Dani (LEFTEE) also live, and where they have their studio. The chemistry between the four of them is just perfect, and they decide to start working on a song. CIBERCHICO has a brand new baseline under his arm that his producer, RARE, made, and a chorus to go along with it. Míriam loves it. They get together again in Alboraya’s home studio, they talk, they share ideas, they write and play a brutal “Estoy Por Ti” together just l [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01 Nunca Estoy (Mai Estic)

A few weeks ago we discovered a new facet of Míriam (LISASINSON) with the addictive “Llámame”, under the moniker LABORDE, a special project that opens new paths in the singer’s registers. It is a personal initiative, open to much more contemporary references and influences, and as proof we have this cover. Míriam takes C. Tangana’s song, “Nunca Estoy”, to Catalan; she gives it a sad, dreamy air; she locks it up in a room full of naïve sounds and broken dreams, and opens the doors for everyone who is looking for something with a different sound, something that saves us, like music has always done.

With Pépe working on the technical aspects and production, this new digital release comes with a video directed by Victoria Herranz and Mar Espinosa (and yes, María, who completes the initial LISASINSON combo also participates). In the video, with a resolution that evokes older cameras and aims to highlight the songs melancholy, we can see Míriam on the El Saler beach, combing her hair in the waves and letting herself be carried by the sea.

There is no doubt that this is just the beginning of a new, promising, personal, and totally unique proposal. Stay tuned.

TRACKLIST: 01 Llámame

There are multifaceted artists, with many different sides, capable of inhabiting different musical styles with astonishing ease. You all already know the freshness and punk-pop spirit of LISASINSON, but you don’t know Míriam’s other project, that goes by the name LABORDE, where she is one of the members. It is a personal initiative, melancholier and with roots in more contemporary sounds like reggaeton, trap and hyperpop, which she develops with personality, sensitivity and a high dose of inspiration. And we have the first proof of that sound here.

“Llámame” is a song that we could tie to SIA or REBE at the same time. It has magnificent production work by TURIAN BOY (the alias of Alejandro Vidal), full of hidden corners, twists and sounds, that perfectly accompany the innocent sensitivity (but at the same time not any less nasty because of this, clearly) of Míriam’s voice. Sophistication and intimacy. A song full of sounds close to CHARLI XCX, Dorian Electra and producers like Sophie and Dylan Brady, filtered through a candy machine and integrated into very intimate and soft pop songs. Dancehall-cadenced rhythms and industrial sounds mixed with lo-fi synthesizers. It is an amalgam of the new trend coming from hyperpop close to indie, that is the perfect wrapping for the disenchantment and frustration of a song that, lyrically, is not too far from “He’s O [ Read more ]
