Christmas singles are a tradition that has grown over many decades, when artists make the most of the special conditions of these important dates. But there is no question that nothing compares to the Christmas singles released in the sixties and seventies. And within that category, the album produced by Phil Spector called “A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector” is clearly a magnum opus. This single that Lia Pamina and Dario Persi have just composed for the Christmas season would deserve to be included on that magnificent collection. It’s just incredible. The bells, the harmonies, that change in key, the jangle guitar, the kettle drum, that percussion that sounds like pure Motown, pure wall of sound. The magic between Dario and Lia’s voices makes us feel all of the warmth of the Christmas spirit that THE RONETTES, THE CRYSTALS and Darlene Love sang for us back then. The incredible sound work on this track by Marco Alberto Matti of Casemate Studio (Italy) is absolutely remarkable, with the most meticulous recording, mixing and mastering. Dario Persi handles percussion, plays the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar, and the 12-string guitar; Alberto Matti adds more percussion; Paco Orsi plays the drums; Carlo Matti is on the keyboards and xylophone; and the incredible production work is by Dario and Marco. The finishing touch is that Christmas cover, that house sheltered from la [ Read more ]

Her songs have always been a breath of fresh air for the ears, with her delicate, sweet, elegant voice. And now she’s back, along with one of her musical companions, Dario Persi, with whom she wrote the single, “So Far Tonight”, with two songs written by Lia Pamina and produced by Dario himself along with Marco Alberto Matti. The went into the Casemate studios in Piamonte (Italy) with Paco Orsi (drums), Carlo Matti (pianist, classical composer, and orchestra conductor) and Marco Alberto Matti (RADIO DAYS’ regular technician) with an arsenal of vintage material from the 60s and 70s to record “Encriptado” and “Fluorescent”. The first is an exercise in brilliant, addictive sixties pop, in Spanish, with a powerful chorus and pristine melodies, and echoes of Margo GuryanLynsey de PaulJudee Sill and Françoise Hardy. It is about the transcendental reason we cross paths with certain people. There is always something we can learn from them, even if we can’t perceive it on the surface. A story, a lesson, an experience. The production has influences from the 60s, elegant pop melodies, clean guitars, and a touch of vibrant craziness. THE BEATLES, Phil Spector and BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD.

Then we have “Fluorescent”, this time in English, which has more of a folk-pop spirit, with touches of psychedelia, a twilight feel, in line with Bill [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01 Follas Novas  02 ¿Por Quecategoría  03 Lúa Descolorida  04 Paz Desexada

After that precious Christmas collaboration in 2019, the combination of Lia Pamina’s delicious voice and Charlie Mysterio’s and Roger Arias’ (OS PEREGRINOS) elegance and inspiration is back, to give us this small, exquisite gem. This limited-edition vinyl Single is inspired by the work of the Galician poet and novelist Rosalía de Castro, where once again folk sounds, Brazilian music, and infinitely exquisite arrangements come together. The singer from Castellón lifts the Galician writer’s words to the heavens, and the result is, yet again, a dream for even the most hard-hearted music lovers.

“Follas Novas” could be used to define what beauty is. It is so simple it’s disarming. Delicate arpeggios, dream-like harmonies, a pristine chorus that perfectly crowns the whole song’s meaning. Which is nothing other than the beautiful idiosyncrasy of living. It is a lucid and magisterial demonstration that when poetry and music come together hand in hand, their association can be as powerful as that of image and sound. But the triumvirate reaches even higher levels with the animated video by Raquel Calvo, who once again makes a statement in sensitivity, esthetic fantasy and creativity. The perfect images for “Follas Novas”. It is impossible to escape the excitement.

The singer and composer from Castellon, Lia Pamina, continues cultivating an extremely interesting discography, full of collaborations with inspired producers and song writers, like Dario Persi (RADIO DAYS) and Joe Moore(THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS, Cristina Quesada). This time, she has joined forces with OS PEREGRINOS, Charlie Mysterio’s and Roger De Flor’s band, to bring us this precious Christmas song, while they prepare an EP of songs based on poems by Rosalía de Castro, which will be released on Elefant in 2020.

For these special dates, they are giving us a cover of a song by the singer Dana, of a Single released in 1975 under the title “It’s Gonna Be A Cold Cold Christmas”. And on it, we discover a Lia Pamina who multiplies her enthralling capacities with her sweet voice in Spanish, accompanied by exquisite harmonies and minimal but extremely effective arrangements, capable of transporting us to the melancholy that so many of us associate with the Christmas holidays. The glockenspiel, the tambourine, the memories, the loneliness… It is so precious!

This advance in the form of a Christmas present gives us a glimpse of what is going to be another unforgettable collaboration, with special magic and chemistry. In the meantime, the music will continue to help make Christmas be a little less melancholy, or at least a little less lonely.

We have a really special release in our hands. A 7” Single arising from the collaboration of two artists who make different sounds, but who have the same references and inclinations. Something like the two sides of the same coin, maybe in its most potent version. And on “So Far Tonight”, a numbered, limited-edition, orange-colored vinyl, Spain’s Lia Pamina and Italy’s Dario Persido an absolutely marvelous exercise in sixties sounds, with each of them contributing their own vision and qualities.

Dario Persiis the singer from RADIO DAYS, one of the most important power pop and sixties sound groups in Italy and all of Europe. They released 3 albums, 2 EP’s and 2 vinyl Singles shared with bands like THE RUBINOOS and PAUL COLLINS BEAT. They have given more than 300 concerts in Italy, Japan, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary and the Czech Republic, with stops at international festivals like Purple Weekend in Leon (Spain), International Pop Overthrow in Cavern Club in Liverpool, Fuengirola Pop Weekend in Málaga (Spain) and Festival Beat in Salsomaggiore Terme (Italy). And our Lia Pamina is building her fan-base, spread out all over the world, even bigger, and is still accumulating a list of the most respected producers and collaborators, release after release.

On this Single, Dario, other members of RADIO DAYS like Mattia Baretta, the regular producer for RADIO DAYS, Marco Alberto Matti andL [ Read more ]

This Single closes a small circle. It is clear that Joe Moore will continue moving forward with his overflowing creativity, but this Digital Single is the last song from the debut albumof Lia Pamina, which is one of his most important song-writing associations so far. The sweet, silky voice of the artist from Castellon has strengthened the romantic facet of Joe’s songs, bringing them closer to the muses of the French chanson and making “Love Is Enough” one of the most beautiful, precious albums released in recent months.

The final proof is this “The Boy I Used To Know”, included on the album and which breaks our hearts, reminding us of some of the most melancholic moments in Jacques Demy’smovies. Delicateness, emotions rising to the surface, unforgettable arrangements, out of this world chamber pop. For the cherry on top, we have a previously unreleased track, “Cards On The Table”, which maintains the elegant, baroque spirit with a light touch of bossa and lounge.

We told you a few weeks ago about the new digital single by Lia Pamina, “Better Off Without You”, and now we’re here to introduce, as we told you we would, another new single. This time, it’s in 7” (500-copy numbered-limited-edition, transparent vinyl) format, starring the song “Sycamore Tree”, one of the best songs on her fantastic debut album “Love Is Enough”, and backed by three previously unreleased songs composed – like the majority of the album – by Joe Moore (THE YEARNING, THE PERFECT KISS).

“Sycamore Tree” is exquisite. The evanescent keyboards remind us of bands like THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and BROADCAST, while the classic spirit, the percussive bass and the clavichord take us to the psychedelic period of THE BEACH BOYS. Marvelous. “Nobody's Baby” fits into the sadder, more melancholic part that was already present on the album. Again, the clavichord and the piano take the lead on a song with baroque airs, which could perfectly be sung by a saddened, solitary Sylvie Vartan, while she sits by the window on a rainy evening. Once again, the elegance of Joe Moore’s arrangements takes things to the highest emotional levels. The B-side opens with spirit and pluck with “Wrap Your Love Around My Heart”, a pop-soul song with clear echoes of Dusty Springfield. And to wrap things up, “One Step” returns to the psychedelic, spacey airs of the first song [ Read more ]

These are good times. Lia Pamina’s first single is already a collector’s item. Joe Moore is super inspired with THE YEARNING’s and THE PERFECT KISS’ new releases. And Lia Pamina’s “Love Is Enough” album was the perfect communion of those two anxious spirits, creating an air of romanticism and delicacy, which has won over fans of Claudine Longet,Françoise Hardy and Astrud Gilberto. And the singles aren’t going to stop. For now, we have a digital single with two songs – the already known “Better Off Without You”, included on the LP, and the previously unreleased “Record Collection”, with both the lyrics and the music written by Lia herself.

“Better Off Without You” is a song that takes part in the best tradition of Scottish folk-pop, with CAMERA OBSCURA as a reference, and with her trademark delicious chorus and exquisite arrangements. “Record Collection” is an example of fifties pop where Lia Pamina pays her own homage to music, the love of music, and vinyl records. It is an agile and direct pop song, likeable and delicious.

The video, as before, is directed by Coraland Javiof the group BAND À PART, which is a total guarantee for these musical parameters. And this won’t be the last news about Lia Pamina and releases related to her debut album. Keep an eye out on your digital media.

The songs released so far by Castellon’s Lia Pamina have been marked by, on the one hand, the influences of female voices like Claudine Longet,Astrud Gilberto andFrançoise Hardy, and on the other hand, collaborations with important song-writers and producers who have dressed her songs and lyrics. That’s what happened on her debut single with Robbie Leff (Johnny Winter, Alice Cooper, THE CRABS), Roger Gunnarson (PUSHY PARENTS, THE GARLANDS) and Le Prix (PUSHY PARENTS, Kylie Minogue, Sally Shapiro). Her first full-length is sponsored by one of our most-loved names currently on Elefant Records’ roster: Joe Moore (THE YEARNING).

Lia Pamina’s voice and Joe Moore’s songs seem like they were destined to find each other. The sweetness and freshness of the former, and the imagination and fantasy of the latter, all poured into the evocation of a certain sound – music from the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s – where we follow them as they visit some of their favorite names, on an album that seems like it was conceived as a journey. Though this album is really conceived as a tribute to love. But let’s take this step by step. Or, better yet, song by song.

“Better Off Without You” begins with the trademark details, so close to other groups that work within the same parameters, like THE SCHOOL and CAMERA OBSCURA: an effective melody, a catchy chorus, and an exquisite result. “Walking Away” is o [ Read more ]

We have had the pleasure of hearing her debut single, but what Lia Pamina has done with her first album has exceeded all expectations. “Love Is Enough” is probably one of the most romantic and beautiful albums in years: delicate, sensitive, fragile… With strong influences from the French chanson and artists like Astrud Gilberto, Nancy Sinatra and Claudine Longet, it perfectly blends a mix of elegance and pop spirit. And to help her achieve this, she counted on Joe Moore, founding father of THE YEARNING, for production, arrangements and compositions.

So that you can get a little taste now, we are offering this advance single, “Walking Away”, where we can see Joe Moore’s chamber pop push Lia’s sweet voice, creating innocent, tender textures. The clavichord and the strings move the acoustic guitar notes over an emotional journey that is reflected in the bucolic landscapes that decorate Lia Pamina’s body in the video, filmed by BAND À PART.

This is an invitation to what is probably the best way to get a little closer to this album: looking patiently into one of those incredible landscapes that decorates our dreams, while we let the notes of “Love Is Enough” slide into our ears. Both things make us feel what it means to be human: so big, so small.

After a brief period of time which we put to good use by checking out new talent on the music scene (both nationally and internationally), we’ve returned with our New Adventures In Pop, where we give voice to those artists who are relatively unknown to the general public, some just starting out, and others who have spent years holding on to prodigious treasures. In this release we have two very different stories. The Lia Pamina single features some impressive background figures of music history joining forces around a sweet-voiced singer to form an amazing single of europop and soft pop. And we also have the Filipino-American quintet, MARINE LIFE, giving off the luminous energy of their native California, where they write unbeatable pop songs. Join us and discover the two new releases in our New Adventures In Pop collection.
