Mexican label Molecula Records is ready to release by the end of June two new references by Elefant recording artists who have already a big fanbase in that country. NOSOTRÄSH and LA MONJA ENANA will release there their most recent albums, both with some surprise bonus for good luck. “Cierra la puerta al salir”, NOSOTRAS most recent album, will be released in Mexico featuring the same number of songs as its Spanish release (featuring songs that are already classics in the band’s discography, such as “Dicen” or “Completamente sola”), but to these they will add up to four videoclips (“Dando vueltas”, “Gloria”, “Arte” and “Maldito espejo”). This Mexican release will also feature additional tracks with pictures of the band, cover artwork of all their records and the band’s biography.

As for LA MONJA ENANA, the album due to be released in Mexico by Molecula Records is the compilation “Un secret terrible”, just released in France by La Bulle Sonore (an album which features the songs from their singles, plus rarities, songs from compilations, demos and even songs from the “¡Qué mutada!” project, as well as the videoclip for “Amor cuántico”), but it will also feature two extra tracks: remixes of “Por amor al arte” (Monjatron mix) and “Números” (remixed by British artist DJ Downfall). Last year, Taiwanese label Avant Garden Records released several selected record from Elefant’s recent catalogue: “Satélite 99” by Ana D (in a similar edition to that released by Argentinian label Índice Virgen some years ago, featuring extra songs from the live album Grimsey Records released in the States), “Idioma suave” by ENTRE RÍOS, “Popemas” by NOSOTRÄSH, “Canciones de temporada” by NIZA, “Underachievers please try harder” by CAMERA OBSCURA…

The results of this collaboration has proved very satisfactory for all the parties involved, and it’s going ahead now with new releases from our catalogue in Taiwan. Next july, Avant Garden will release there “Cierra la puerta al salir” by NOSOTRÄSH (with the addition of the videoclip for the song “Dando vueltas”) and “Onda” by ENTRE RÍOS, also with a video and two extra tracks: “Si fuimos” (song taken from the “This is my country” compilation, formerly released on the Jabalina label) and “Por ti”, one of the first songs ever composed by the Buenos Aires trio, previously released on the first vinyl single the band did on Elefant.

The exchange between Elefant and Avant Garden isn’t over yet. Later on in time, our Taiwanese friends plan to release a compilation by NIZA, which will include songs from their singles, unreleased tracks, live takes [ Read more ]

The fourth album by NOSOTRÄSH, “Cierra la puerta al salir”, is a proud statement dedicated to anyone who has new plans on sight. The opening track, “Dando vueltas”, maintains the lyrical precision they perfected in “Popemas”, the previous album, but going back to the poppier arrangements that made their second long player, “Mi vida en un fin de semana”, such a lovely record. And this opening track, “Dando vueltas”, has been chosen for the first video shoot from the new album: simple footage featuring the foursome playing together, directed by Juan Ugarriza, a young director who has shot other videos for Spanish independent bands as Tachenko or Garzón, as well as two short films (“Imprevistos”, in 2001, and “La piscina”, in 2004) and other television films and commercials. All this previous experience has surely helped him putting into images the excellent and catchy song that opens the new and expected album by NOSOTRÄSH.

After the fantastic POPEMAS’s splendid welcome, NOSOTRÄSH are at the moment recording the new songs of their eagerly awaited fourth album "Cierra la puerta al salir" (expected to be released next spring). Ibon Errazkin collaboration in the previous albums gives way on this next one to Pedro Vigil’s production (a musician from Gijón, old member of PENELOPE TRIP and main head of EDWIN MOSES and VIGIL). The album is being recorded in Gijón, slowly but only to guarantee a perfect result.

Popland and Cinemaspop are two stores (actually three, because Popland has two different premises) from the Malasaña area in Madrid, but they both provide half Spain and abroad with aesthetic pleasures. In Popland, an enormous variety of accessories, garnishing, furniture, records and pop memorabilia on the whole can be found, whereas in Cinemaspop, pop culture comes on the top of movie going and cinema love. Two colouristic concepts with a passionate interest for pop’s different sides, that were to meet Elefant Records’ music.

Both stores have just released the album "Popland 25 hit parade", including that number of successful songs from Elefant Records catalogue: COOPER, LA CASA AZUL, CAMERA OBSCURA, BERLANGA, LE MANS, HEAVENLY or JUNIPER MOON, among others, playing the perfect soundtrack to the lush aesthetic of this retro consumption’s paradise.

We´re happy to bring you “Momentos perdidos” a collection of rarities, b-sides, wrong hits and a bunch of previously unreleased gifts. Lovely souvenirs from such different harbours as Japan, Germany, United States, France, England and, of course, Spain.

“Momentos perdidos” shouldn´t be seen as the usual compilation, nor a balance of the most representative stuff from the last years: we only expect to bring you a collection of delightful songs that, due to different reasons, were hidden in a record or never came to be published.

Text written by Covadonga de Silva [NOSOTRÄSH]

It´s difficult to write about a handful of songs that I‚ve been involved in so far, and that I hope to keep on being involved in as days go by: by promoting them and playing them live; by humming them at work, over my pillow, or into the van where we spend a great deal of our weekends. It´s difficult but equally tantalizing. How to be objective in this hard task and not being found guilty of practising the wildest form of onanism -with all my respects to such a healthy activity-categoría One way to get this done is to temporarily adopt the shape of a fan: those amazing people that follow us with their hearts and souls, sometimes only with the latter, to every gig or every step forward in our career. We truly admire the ability of admiration that fans posess; this enables us to be more and more able to discover ourselves and keep on writing songs; they notice things we would hardly notice; their appreciations and constant support is the perfect feedback in the circle of our artistic production. I thought it was essential to comment on this.

Once adopted the form of a NOSOTRÄSH fan, I can start off by talking about the new songs, leavin‚ aside the album tracks "Gloria" -and its daily scenes of emotional survival- and what I consider a personal definition or a self-portrait song, "Corazón colilla"; both built upon upbeat rhythms by Mr Ibon Errazkin. There we find "S [ Read more ]
