Elefant Records continues to be a source of sound material for filmmakers, and the latest proof is “La Amiga De Mi Amiga”, the debut film of Zaida Carmona (yes, the one who sang “La Llamada” with PAPA TOPO in Marc Ferrer‘s film “La Maldita Primavera”), which celebrated its presence on 1 February at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, as part of the Bright Future section. Two days later, on 3 February, and coinciding with the premiere in commercial cinemas in Spain, we are releasing the soundtrack just with the Elefant songs that appear in the movie, which in this case features SOFT REGIME, AIKO EL GRUPO, LISASINSON, JULIE ET JOE, BAND À PART, Giorgio Tuma, NOS MIRAN and FITNESS FOREVER. What a great selection! And as a gift we include in our edition the original version of “Lady Dilema” by Carlos Berlanga, which in the film is covered by Aroa Ay, from SHEGO. The film also features songs by MALAMUTE, MASONIERÍA (the solo project of Sonia, from PAPA TOPO), Rocío Saiz and CHRISTINA Y LOS SUBTERRÁNEOS. In fact, Christina Rosenvinge herself makes a cameo in the film.

“La Amiga De Mi Amiga” is a generational story, as Zaida herself says: “a five-way lesbian comedy of entanglement”, a story about women who love a lot, but love badly. A project that arises from the need to consolidate and reaffirm positive queer and/or feminist references, filmed in eleven days, wit [ Read more ]

We are moving forward with our “Reworked By Series” collection, where two Elefant artists collaborate to give us a very special result. One artist composes and the other reconstructs. This series has produced many curious and passionate challenges like ATTIC LIGHTS and LA CASA AZUL or THE PRIMITIVES and MODULAR. This fourth release is starring LINDA GUILALA and SOFT REGIME. The group residing in Vigo, who already starred in the third release (that time in collaboration with APENINO) put “Mucho Mejor”, one of their best songs, on the table. Pure intensity and emotion, a wall of guitars, psychedelia, shoegazing, kraut rock… The feeling of your feet being lifted off the ground.

Christian Flamm of SOFT REGIME takes the song in the opposite direction. He rescues the melodies from the noise and synthesizes LINDA GUILALA’s analogue sound, resulting in an addictive and disarming synth-pop hit, euphoric at moments and that sometimes seems to let out a few drops of the evocative capacity of the original. And yes, it is going to be played on dance floors everywhere. The colorful lyrics and ambiguity work perfectly with the drum machines and dreamy keyboards. Food for the spirit.

It is absolutely spectacular, the way a composition can mutate, just by changing the hands who handle its tracks and melodies. The “Reworked By Series” is back with more solid proof of this. More than a curiosity, it’s a fantasy. [ Read more ]

Surrender to the SOFT REGIME. Is it the sound of the underground, or is the sound of the overground going undergroundcategoría Either way, SOFT REGIME is a pan-European group of musicians intent on exploring the glorious electronic pop sounds that pump through their hearts and grease their gears.

Christian makes the music and production, Tim (previously leader of electropop band BAXENDALE) writes the words and melodies, and Astrid sings the songs, bringing it all together. Astrid first met Christian in the Bavarian Forest, soon switching the conversation from flora to pop, discovering a shared love for dancing, and recruited Tim to join forces to help things take shape.

Ever since then, there was no looking back. This 8 track "Hard Feelings" 10” Mini-LP follows their continental disco hit from 2017 "Michelangelo", with its huge chorus and controversial banned video.

Over the course of the year, they added studio crack Nomen Nescio to the mix and delivered this all new set of songs for 2018.

As you'd expect, they had yet another explosive europop cocktail on their hands: think Lio, Icerink Records, GIRLS AT OUR BEST, LA BIONDA, MIKADO, LA CASA AZUL, Kim Wilde, only different.

Eventually, the takes have been sent to Ian Catt's (ELIZABETH CITY STATE, THE FIELD MICE, ALPACA SPORTS) studio down in Croydon for extra mixing and mastering.Et voilà! Europop at its fizziest, ideal for dancefloors and walkmen.

We love introducing new groups. For us, it’s like giving you a present wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper, with an incredible surprise inside.  And SOFT REGIME is one of the best presents we could give you right now. They are an European band, consisting of a French woman (the singer Astrid Rostaing), a German (the producer and songwriter Christian Flamm), and an Englishman (Tim Benton, songwriter, lyricist, and once-frontman of BAXENDALE), their first single is named after an Italian artist, which they are releasing on a Spanish label. These curious circumstances truly represent the paradigm of a band without borders, but with a clear focus on togetherness and polished dance floors. The line that summarizes the group’s concept says it all: “To be strict on softness, but soft on strictness, to make hot emotional pop in a glacial synthetic frame”.

“Michelangelo” is the lead song on their first single – a true ode to europop, with vocoders, luminous melodies, and super-danceable choruses. The total dancefloor-filler will definitely be played on european walkmen for a long time. “Pedestrian Sunset” comes in a curious format – the song is divided between the A and B-sides on the physical single, maintaining high levels of energy. To wrap things up, the statement of intent that is their cover of “The Queen Of Seville” by THE CLIENTELE (a British group with a cult following, one of whose first sing [ Read more ]
