To continue with our support of the 10” format, we at Elefant Records are releasing a Mini-LP from one of the groups that have just recently become a part of our team – the British group, THE SILVER FACTORY. A few weeks ago they released their debut single, with four splendid songs, on our collection New Adventures in Pop.

The band fronted by Fran Feely formed in the summer of 2008 with the intention of showing off their shared love of music from the sixties and indie-pop. They named the group in homage to Andy Warhol’s work studio, where he had countless events and parties. After several changes in the group’s line-up, with even Fran’s brother, Peter Feely, forming part of the group at one point, THE SILVER FACTORY settled into their definitive line-up when lead vocals were handed over to Marc Johnston (formerly of THE JUNIPERS, he was also partially responsible for the same tasks on the songs of that delightful release, “The Sun Shines Over You”). Currently, alongside Fran (rhythm guitar) and Marc, the band’s line-up consists of Matt Vinall (lead guitar), Luke Headland (bass) and Paul Hobbs (drums).

“If Words Could Kill” is the Leicester band’s grand entrance into music society, with seven songs that offer a more complete and open image of a group that is loyal to its sound. Starting with that inevitable indie-pop hit full of precious arpeggios and guitar arrangements that is the title track, vi [ Read more ]

In anticipation of the upcoming release of their first 10” Mini-LP, THE SILVER FACTORY is giving us the video for the album’s title track: “If Words Could Kill”. The band from Leicester already debuted on the Elefant Records single collection, New Adventures in Pop, with their first single, “The Sun Shines over You”.

The video has a clear sixties-styled esthetic that shows us the development of a relationship in three scenes in which three different colors rule – green, red, and violet. All the while Fran Feely’s band demonstrates their talent with pristine arrangements, their love for indie pop and their melancholically romantic lyrics.

And since we couldn’t expect anything less, soon we will be able to enjoy their concerts in our country – on Friday, May 4th they will play in the EbroPop festival and on Saturday, May 5th they will be at Elefant Club with COLA JET SET and LOS BONSÁIS. Those are two fantastic opportunities to see one of the bands that has done the most to recover the indie-pop tradition, and put it together with the sounds of the sixties that you just can’t miss!

After a brief pause in April because of Easter week, Elefant Club is back with a new, huge party in Siroco club. Three groups that represent Elefant’s current musical line-up and one famous DJ will get on stage and make sure everyone has an unforgettable night, like they’ve done in previous editions of Elefant Club.

COLA JET SET are more than just Elefant’s current music. They are one of the groups who best represent the recent history of our label, and who are currently doing promotion for their new English-language single “Listen and repeat” at important international events like the Glasgow Popfest (UK) or the NYC Popfest (USA), where they will also perform a semi-acoustic concert to introduce their new line-up: Ana, the group’s vocalist, is leaving, as is Estel, the group’s other bassist; both want to focus more on their careers and their families. In their place, Alicia will step in as the lead vocalist, without leaving behind her guitar and keyboards. This concert will be a special occasion that will include new songs as well as part of their old repertoire. LOS BONSÁIS will perform in our club for the second time, to present new songs and their second video, “Temporal”. The video is for one of the songs from their debut single for our New Adventures in Pop collection, a song that clearly marks their punk-pop spirit, sprinkled with distortions and fuzz, with echoes of bands like MARINE GIRLS and S [ Read more ]

As many of you already know, the first Saturday of every month is the day we celebrate Elefant Club in Madrid’s legendary bar, Siroco, located on 3 San Dimas Street. Siroco has been totally remodelled, to better suit their fantastic concerts and unforgettable DJ sessions, which are becoming more and more popular. Groups like THE SCHOOL, BAND À PART, FITNESS FOREVER, PAPA TOPO, LOS BONSÁIS, SINGLE, CORAZÓN, GUATAFÁN, CAPITÁN SUNRISE and DJs like Guille Milkyway, Pepito Prieto, Bob Stanley, and our very own Luis Elefant have already made stops on Siroco’s stage, making every single person in the audience twist and shout, in events that are already basically obligatory for anyone who loves the best pop. Nights like these get written indelibly in one’s memory.

We now have new, confirmed dates for the upcoming months. To start, on March 3rd we have the “Mad Madrid 5×25” party, where 5 groups from the capital city will play for 25 minutes each, with a range of groups from established ones that have already put out albums, like BLA, to Belén and Luis from L-KAN’s parallel project, to others that will soon form part of our “New Adventures in Pop” collection – as is the case with TEACHER TEACHER (a super new band formed by María (CHARADES), Cristina (WILD HONEY) y Guille (WILD HONEY, THE MITTENS) – and including some who already form a part of that collectio [ Read more ]

Song: Los Chicos Hoy Saltarán A La Pista (LA CASA AZUL)

It took many months of work but we can finally announce, with much joy and satisfaction, the release of “L-FUN 45 (Summer of love)”, the first independent musical videogame for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, a fun application that will get all of the label’s fans excited. The videogame is full of the Elefant universe and our groups. It was created and developed by Dolores Entertainment, a young and promising company that develops mobile phone applications and videogames, and that shares Elefant’s spirit of independent work and passion for music. Dolores Entertainment, who recently celebrated their first anniversary as a company, started their voyage with more classic-styled games with a more direct dynamic, like “Vectron” or “Spanish Chiringuito”. Now, they are official providers for TV3 and they are working on some different, very interesting projects that we’ll be hearing about soon, but L-FUN 45 is their most ambitious project so far.

L-FUN 45 is an interactive musical, a game where the music isn’t just an excuse to smash buttons, but instead it tells us a love story. The love story begins with a break-up, and includes friendship and summertime adventures. The game, which we are launching today, is the first part of a four-part series, since there were so many ideas at the beginning of the project, plus all of the [ Read more ]
