Elefant Records continues to be the protagonist of the soundtracks of many of the new releases on video-streaming platforms. And this time in style. “In Love All Over Again” is the new series by Carlos Montero, creator of series such as “Élite” (which has more than 30 Elefant songs on its soundtrack), “The Mess You Leave Behind” (with 11 Elefant songs in its only season) or “Física Y Química”.

The first season of “In Love All Over Again” has eight episodes and has been released on Netflix last February 14th with the participation of Georgina Amorós, Franco Masini, Carlos González, Guillermo Toledo, Silvia Abril and many more actors and actresses that complete an incredible cast, and the direction of, among others, Carlota Pereda (currently on the front page for the award-winning “Piggy”) or Mateo Gil (“Nobody Knows Anybody”, “Blackthorn”, “The Minions of Midas”). On “In Love All Over Again” we can listen to up to 19 songs that have been released on our label, making up a soundtrack that features artists such as FAMILY, LA CASA AZUL, LA BIEN QUERIDA, JUNIPER MOON, LA MONJA ENANA, NOSOTRÄSH, LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE, COOPER and many more. The perfect musical backdrop for a funny, gentle and down-to-earth romantic comedy, with two protagonists who display superb chemistry. A joy to see and hear.

This coming October 20th, the film festival Mostra de Valencia will open with the Valencian film “El Que Sabem”, produced by Pegatum Transmedia and directed by Jordi Núñez, author of the shorts “Píxeles” (with more than 11 million views on streaming), “Amor De Dios” and “Cachitos”. It is a daring generational portrait about a story of first love, acceptance, and forgiveness, dressed up as a hymn to friendship, desire and the youth that slips through our hands. It is a movie in which, according to the people who made it, “music plays a fundamental role in building emotions and feelings, whether it’s to intensify them or to fill them with irony”. A large part of the movie’s soundtrack consists of songs by groups from Elefant Records.

TRACKLIST: 01 Resistiré (Banda Sonora Original “Élite”)

Ana Fernández-Villaverde continues to grow her repertoire beyond her albums, and like any good inquisitive mind, there is always some ulterior motive, there is no work of inspiration (be it her own initiative or required) that does not surpass all expectations. And now it’s the DÚO DINÁMICO’s turn, and that Netflix show “Élite” that has blown up the viewing charts. In the fifth season, which is coming out now, there is an episode full of little references and homages to the inimitable Spanish film maker Pedro Almodóvar. And at one point, the protagonists are watching “Átame”, a movie which ends with “Resistiré” by Manuel and Ramón. The original version melts into LA BIEN QUERIDA’s revisiting, which weaves the downtempo with flamenco, creating a mantra of mystery and introspection, of roots and contained outbursts.

The idea came from Paulina Márquez, musical supervisor for the show, who saw in Ana the perfect protagonist for this special moment of the season, and the result of it is a Digital Single that will be released this coming April 6, the same day that “Romancero” celebrates the 13th anniversary of its release. And in 13 years so many things have happened, there have been so many songs, so many surprises and so many changes. And [ Read more ]

Ana Fernández-Villaverde continues to grow her repertoire outside of her albums, with collaborations, special orders, television and marketing campaigns. After that incredible cover of “Llorando Por Ti” she did for the HBOmax show, “Todo Lo Otro”, now she is giving us a song of her own that will play at the end of the episodes of “Express”, the first Spanish show on the Starzplay platform. Starring Maggie Civantos and created by Iván Escobar (“Vis A Vis”), “Express” has an explosive plot line about express kidnapping. And LA BIEN QUERIDA wraps up every episode with this incredible hit, “Río De Enero”, with one of those choruses that gets branded into your brain and that gives you chills – epic and exciting in equal measure. It is a hundred percent inspiration, versatility, creativity. LA BIEN QUERIDA is having a tremendous moment. But then again, she always has been, hasn’t shecategoría

Ana Fernández-Villaverde continues to give us a trail of gems in the form of collaborations, singles, and appearances on TV shows, movies and ads. Now she is going to be on “Todo Lo Otro”, the new show on the HBOmax platform, directed by and starring Abril Zamora. And as always, she does not cease to surprise us.

Abril Zamora asked Ana to make this very special cover (in the purest LA BIEN QUERIDA style), for one of the episodes of her new show, and Ana took that anthem that came from Minerva, (yes, that “Llorando Por Ti”), under the influence of Spain’s greatest clubbing movement – Ruta del Bakalao – and brought it into the range of the downtempo, of lyricism and the deepest sadness. Strings, deep bass, underlying rhythms, and that “Estoy llorando por ti / Estoy llorando por cosas de ayer” (I’m crying for you / I’m crying for yesterday) that transmits so many different feelings, so intense, playing along with the show’s imagery, which shows us stories of fallings out, of lies, of deceptions and regrets. In the heartbreaking video from HBOmax, we can see Ana interacting and getting into bed with the stars, almost literally putting herself in their shoes. Rain, tears, and emotions running wild.

We still have more surprises coming from LA BIEN QUERIDA, more special collaborations that we will let you know about in the coming weeks. But for now, it’s time to enjoy “Llorando Por Ti” a [ Read more ]

Vinyl collectors have been searching desperately for copies of LA BIEN QUERIDA’s albums for a long time now, since they have been out of print for years. Here at Elefant, we are going to put an end to this situation, in reverse chronological order, in March, April and May, and with copies worthy of such a situation.

So, the first to come out, skipping over the recent “Brujería”, will be “Fuego”. Fire corresponds to the south, to the color red, to summer, to the heart. The fire of passion, of love and cholera, fire of the spirit and intuition. As Ana herself said: “It’s an album that talks a lot about a desire that reaffirms life, pleasure, self-realization, freedom. The process of living established by desire. A desire that is not dark or confusing but luminous and clear”. As with the original release, the album will be double black-color vinyl with a fold-out gatefold album cover. Songs like “Dinamita”, “7 Días Juntos”, “Recompensarte” and “Los Jardines De Marzo” make it clear just how great this album is.

This will be followed by “Premeditación, Nocturnidad y Alevosía”, which will be released for the first time all together on vinyl, as the last release in this format was limited to just three Maxi-Singles of four songs each, which later comprised the final CD. It is a major work of art – complex, multi-faceted, dark. The perfe [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01 Soy Rebelde

LA BIEN QUERIDA is one of the most well-respected artists on the national panorama. Her incessant activity, her own work, her collaborations with or compositions for others (the most recent with Soleá Morente) have worked to develop a very special aura around her persona. And with this song she takes her next step. It is a dark and epic version of JEANETTE’s “Soy Rebelde” which will be included in the ad campaign for La Prohibida, a new cider from the Mahou brand. The ad, produced by Canada, really makes an impact, constantly pushing the limits of social conventions and taboos in the most provocative way, with an elegant esthetic that grows with astonishing intensity thanks to Ana’s cover, a recording produced by Luis de las Heras along with Yuri Méndez (PÁJARO SUNRISE). We would never have thought that the song by Manuel Alejandro (one of Ana’s favorite songwriters) would reach such special forms, while holding onto the delicacy of her voice, but heightening the epic and lyric qualities to unsuspected heights. Don’t wait to listen to it.

TRACKLIST: 01 Un Gatito

Ana Fernández-Villaverde is back and this is the first song she has released since her most recent album, “Brujería” came out (September 2019). Moving easily from one genre to the next, she is here with this new single, “Un Gatito”, an instant anthem that also serves as an appetizer for her new album, which she is already working on. The song talks about loving someone for who they are, with all their faults. Twisted nuances and foggy ambiance surround the completely uncensored description of a person – but without leaving out the sweetness. She leaves us with verses like: “Un oasis en el desierto / Un calendario de adviento / Un niño perdido en un aeropuerto / Un día de fiesta y un bar abierto / El caminito que me lleva al huerto / Con la verdad al descubierto” (An oasis in the desert / An advent calendar / A lost child in the airport / A holiday and an open bar / The path that leads me to the garden / With the truth exposed). It is impossible to say so much with so little. It’s one of those songs that gets stuck in your head and never goes away.

Produced by Alizzz and LA BIEN QUERIDA, mastered by Álex Ferrer, and with a cover designed by Mario Rivière (who already worked on the cover of “Brujería”), the song also comes with a stupendous video, by David Vega (RAYDEN, Paula Cendejas, ST. PEDRO, ABHIR, MAKA, Eva Ruiz), in which, in a kind [ Read more ]

The year-end lists and the sold-out shows all over Spain confirm that “Brujería” is a huge new success for Ana Fernández-Villaverde. With a pristine trajectory, LA BIEN QUERIDA has been collecting hits with each step, but this last period has had especially notable repercussions: the songs have appeared on Operación Triunfo, the music has been chosen for the Valentines’ Day lottery ad, it spent several weeks on the best-sellers list… These are clear signs that a definite line has been crossed, and recognition is now massive. And now we have “Domingo Escarlata”. That song that puts the clouds (the kind that cover the sun and warn of storms) over the relationship that the last LA BIEN QUERIDA album talks about, where, along with J (LOS PLANETAS), she sings about that melancholic and painful moment of accepting separation and distance.

And to illustrate it, we have a video directed by Diego Jiménez (CARIÑO, AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, CAROLINA DURANTE…) starring two girls in the 80s taking a mysterious drug that takes them to the future. It is an evocation of the time that has passed, of the symbols that meant something to us at one point and then got left behind. And we can see J and Ana themselves singing the song in a dreamy scene, along with the stars of the video (including Catalina Sopelana, who is at the top of her game with the release of the TV show “El Vecino”). By now, we are not surprised when a LA BIEN QUERIDA album is so well received by both the media and the public in general. After “¿Quécategoría” and “Me Envenenas”, “Miedo” adds another stone to the album “Brujería”, which projects a strange, ambiguous shadow. The album is a treaty on love based on all things esoteric and magical, and the horror stories gain more and more of a starring role. The video for “Me Envenenas”, directed by Carlos Vermut, was a three-minute exercise in horror, and “Miedo” is here to surpass this idea, bringing to the table the very spirit of a large part of the album. This time, the video is directed by Santi Capuz, who has directed some of the videos for RUSH WEEK, Soleá Morente, THE LAST DETAIL, NEVVER… It shows us the evolution of a relationship: from the happy moments to the break-up. And this is where the good stuff comes in. In impressive synchronization with this tremendously intense, epic mid-tempo, the break-up is portrayed as if it were a process of exorcising ghosts, with infinite references to horror classics like “Nightmare On Elm Street” and “Evil Dead”. The video is a key piece of the puzzle to get inside the universe LA BIEN QUERIDA is showing us here on this “Brujería”, and discovering it is a tremendously exciting exercise.

After have made that trilogy that was “Premeditación, Nocturnidad Y Alevosía”, and her last album, “Fuego”, it should not come as a surprise that the sixth album of Ana Fernández-Villaverde‘s career is called “Brujería”. But the game of mirrors is radical. Because, “Brujería” is probably the most open and direct about emotions, where the songs touch tangentially on the mystery to dive in more deeply lyrically and epically. It is an album about love, brutal and raw, without metaphors, as is her style. Darkness and light, and each song leads unequivocally into the next.

“Love and falling in love with something or someone is full of witchcraft. When we fall in love we feel like we are under a spell cast by the object of our affection. The effect is similar to a highly addictive drug; it creates strong ties in our mind between pleasure and the thing we desire” Ana says. Titles like “La Verdad”, “¿Quécategoría”, “Te Quiero”, “La Fuerza” and “Miedo” make a point of this direct and impressive concept, which is challenging at times.

This is an album where mid and slow tempos abound, songs that turn into instant classics like only Ana knows how to do. After “Hechizo Protector” which leads us into the first track, the wall of sound of the highly cinematographic “La Verdad” makes a chill ru [ Read more ]

“Me Envenenas” is a special song in LA BIEN QUERIDA’s discography: it’s a tour de force, a brief crescendo, full of anguish, agonizing and sickly. It is a fundamental piece within the album “Brujería”, the sixth album in Ana Fernández-Villaverde’scareer. That is exactly why it needs to have a special release. And, the thing is, the video that goes with this Single is directed by none other than the multiple-award-winning film director Carlos Vermut, who is the author of movies like “Diamond Flash” and “Magical Girl”, which already form a part of the history of film. The video has left us speechless, distraught, excited… But no one can explain it better than the director himself:

“The music video for the song “Me Envenenas” comes from an idea that I began to think about a few years ago. It was the idea that a Japanese woman, an office worker, tired of having to hold back and perform the role assigned to her by her job and by society, decided to dress up as a ghost at night and scare people, and get some release that way.

The idea (which still interests me now) had to be pushed aside because of other projects I was working on, and sometimes I fantasized about the possibility of being able to do something with it somehow.

When I talked to Ana about the video for “Me Envenenas”, we were very clear that we wanted it to tell a story. It was important that it had [ Read more ]

If we tell you that LA BIEN QUERIDA’s new album is called “Brujería” you won’t be surprised, after that trilogy called “Premeditación, Nocturnidad Y Alevosía”. But don’t be fooled – what is coming is a change in direction. Tear up your bets and free yourselves of all your expectations. We’re going to give you some slippery proof with “¿Quécategoría”

Produced by Carlos René (AXOLOTES MEXICANOS) and with the collaboration of Diego Ibáñez (CAROLINA DURANTE), the advance single for the sixth album from Ana Fernández-Villaverde talks really directly about the state of isolation that comes with being in love (the most powerful witchcraft of allcategoría), and the beginning of the song is a clear tribute to two of her most significant references – THE CURE and NEW ORDER. With a chorus that is destined to be sung over and over, and a euphoric energy that is perfectly reflected in the video directed by Diego Jiménez (LA CASA AZUL, CARIÑO, NEVVER, AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, CAROLINA DURANTE), and in which, by the way, Ana plays a psychic. “¿Quécategoría” could be the central theme the whole new album by LA BIEN QUERIDA is based on and developed around. It’s a concept that has been illustrated by Mario Rivière, who has created an illustration for each song and each spell; in this c [ Read more ]

LA BIEN QUERIDA’s fifth album, “Fuego”, marked a turning point in Ana’s career. Musically speaking, it meant going back and travelling forward at the same time. The impeccable collection of songs is captivating both the press and fans all over the world. “Dinamita” is the album’s opening track, and the star of this new video. Once again, directed by Juanma Carrillo, LA BIEN QUERIDA’s music takes on a new dimension through the images, as Juanma himself explains:

“Is it possible to hope to know the world from a lost corner of the universecategoría From the first moment I heard “Dinamita” I imagined the opening scene, I visualized an adolescent on the edge of puberty, so many questions, and a strict, authoritarian father. The idea of a girl stepping out of a straight line of adults and escaping through a door bathed in light filled my head for months. Seeing things so clearly is good, but it is also painful and complicated to visualize something for so long; it makes things more difficult. That’s why, when I saw that image take real shape with one of the actors I pushed for, the young Alejandra Bittini, and the decorated set, I couldn’t believe it. “Dinamita” is a love song, a hymn to freedom and romanticism. So even though one of the clearest references that had been knocking around since a few videos ago was the pureness of adolescence from the young Sophia Coppola’s “The Vir [ Read more ]

Ana and David have done it again: “Fuego” has been a new reinvention of LA BIEN QUERIDA, and it has proven to be another success for critics and fans alike. Tremendous singles like “7 Días Juntos”, “El Lado Bueno” or this “Recompensarte” have made media like Jenesaispop already put it on the year’s “best of” lists, which are about to be released. And while their tour to promote the album with the band’s new line-up is getting ready to start, we are releasing a new Digital Single, which is a new version that the Madrid-based US artist, Aaron Rux, has made of “Recompensarte”. This version is different, with production that moves between ambience and shoegaze, between echoes and reverb that explode in a final rhythmic burst. This passionate mutation with new vocals lets us enjoy one of our favorite songs from the album from a totally different point of view.

LA BIEN QUERIDA will be presenting “Fuego” live on December 15 in Madrid (OchoyMedio Club) and December 16 in Barcelona (Sala Apolo). These will be their first concerts with the new line-up: Nieves Lázaro: Synthesizers and backing vocals, Manuel Cabezalí: Bass and guitar, David Rodríguez: Keyboards and guitar,Juan Manuel Padilla: Drums, and Ana Fernández-Villaverde: Lead vocals and acoustic guitar.
