Just a few weeks ago we were enjoying the start of a new era for LISASINSON with “Salgo A La Calle”. Now we are here with the confirmation that this new era is going to be important. We have the recognizable energy and strength here, but we also see an extra level of power, of solidness in the sound, of lyrics that look a little deeper. It’s a song about the need to run away, about the stupid things we see through the window, about that absurd feeling that sometimes takes over when we see the society we live in. More than anything, we love to hear those great, epic choruses, the feeling of wanting to sing their songs, of those counterpoints that come with the bridges, the piano overture… Here at Elefant Records, in these decades we have been operating, we recognize that one of the things we like the most is when we see groups grow, challenge themselves, find new goals. And it is LISASINSON’s time right now.

The vocals, bass and guitars were recorded again with Marc Fernández in Lluerna studios. Drums were recorded by Rodrigo Hernández, mixing was done by Antoni LagunaJuanjo Muñoz did the mastering at Catmastering and Marc Fernández was in charge of production.

LISASINSON a blowing through stages like sacks of gunpowder. “Un Año De Cambios” marked the decisions and the path for the duo to definitively establish their concept and line-up, culminating in a successful tour in Mexico, in addition to multiple dates all over Spain, festivals, television appearances, excellent reviews and so many really special moments.

“Salgo A La Calle” is the beginning of a new era, where they give us a glimpse of a more mature sound, just as energetic, a bit less urgent in this first single (although the bpm is still high), more melodic, where the pieces start to fall perfectly into place and where the lyrics go one step further and the songwriting is more convincing than ever.

The thing is, “Salgo A La Calle” begins with a solid bass, as if Simon Gallup (THE CURE) had gotten a group together with DRY CLEANING or COACH PARTY. It’s a tour de force that begins with a contained, agile, danceable tension that builds up with one of those choruses that needs to be shouted, and ends in an epic explosion, the kind that makes the voltage seep in through every pore. But Míriam’s lyrics are an invitation, with two different layers of interpretation that complement each other perfectly: “I wrote it in a period of reflection about myself and about everything I have been going through these past few years and the truth is that the lyrics came from somewhere deep within m [ Read more ]

It was one of the most-requested songs. “Mira Chico” is definitely one of the great songs from “Un Año De Cambios”. The album definitively catapulted Míriam and Paula: the release in Japan of a gorgeous edition, selected as an Amazon Music ROMPE group, absolutely sold-out release parties, interviews, and national and international coverage… And now this is finally here. The new single from LISASINSON, the last one taken from their album “Un Año De Cambios”, and with a music video by Polígono that’s as good as the song. Those nineties guitars playing and then it explodes, the brazenness, the punk, the riot spirit. The beginning of the video throws you off; it’s a kind of pseudo-documentary where our protagonists talk about what’s behind LISASINSON, and suddenly it shifts toward a story about two girls who race through a desert in their car, in search of the treasure of their lives. And the treasure is ours, because we have a whole year of concerts, hits, amazing songs, and so many new things ahead of us. A year that will change things, but in which we will be with LISASINSON, more than ever.

“Un Año De Cambios” is already out. It’s LISASINSON’s moment right now. It’s the moment for the best of lists, for world-renowned stages, for recognition on a national and international level, for a fired-up crowd. And to celebrate, we’re releasing a Digital Single with one of the many hits that fill that marvelous debut album, which shows off their energy, their strength, their melodic potential, and also their maturity and evocativeness. “Se Me Ha Muerto Una Flor” is a chorus begging you to singing along, an infinite mosh pit, excitement and poetry, and it is a broken heart just when you get to the end of the song: “Tenías razón, no supe cuidar de ti / Tenías razón, tenía que aprender a cuidar de mí” (You were right, I didn’t know how to take care of you / You were right, I had to learn how to take care of me). And to go along with it, we have a marvelous music video directed by Polígono (the producer who gave us NENAS’ music videos). In the video, we see Míriam and Paula setting up a camping trip in the living room of their house, and once they eat the petals of a flower, they go into a lysergic dream world. Long live LISASINSON.

As proof that 2023 is their year, we want to let you know that “Un Año De Cambios” was released in Japan at the end of August as a special edition that includes two extra tracks [ Read more ]

This is the fifth advance single before the arrival of “Un Año De Cambios”, the first full length from LISASINSON. We have been hearing a more powerful, solid, potent sound on recent singles like “Cuchillos”, “Canción De Entretiempo” and “No Sé Muy Bien”. But “Mochi” has something that makes us understand the reasoning behind the album title. Yes, there are ferocious guitars and overflowing energy. But there aren’t only songs driven by anger, there is melancholy from lived and missed experiences these last few months: “Quiero que estés a mi lado / Cuando el verano se acabe / Y tenga ganas de llorar” (I want you to be by my side / When summer ends / And I feel like crying), although with a trademark gesture at the end. It’s the story of a long-distance relationship that almost sounds dreamy. And the melodies are open, even precious. As if THE BREEDERS or BIKINI KILL had wanted to make a radically pop song, with a more dynamic structure, and more playful harmonies.

And we also have a new music video to go with it, this time directed by the production company GRAPA, where Teresa and Bárbara from AIKO EL GRUPO are, along with their friend Jorge Pesquera. In the video, we see Míriam and Paula doing everyday things in a house, enjoying the different spaces, and of course, eating mochis. Once again, the camera shows us the magn [ Read more ]

“New Adventures In Pop” has been one of the collections from Elefant Records that has brought us the most joy. Included in this collection, we have seen groups like AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, PAPA TOPO, KOKOSHCA, BAND À PART, RENALDO & CLARA, TRONCO, Cristina Quesada, and many more, grow. A few weeks ago, we told you about the imminent arrival of the LISASINSON’s upcoming new album, and as a new teaser we presented “Últimamente”. Now, we’re back with a new advance single – the fourth so far – for “Un Año De Cambios”, a highly anticipated album that will be here very soon.

“Cuchillos” gives us the very essence of LISASINSON: energy, immediate melodies, distortion, punk spirit… But we also have more detailed production work (thanks to Carlos Hernández), more complex guitar layers and more meticulous arrangements. The resultí A new, furious hit, with lines like “Últimamente me parezco a Lucifer / Capulla, orgullosa y difícil de querer” (Lately I am just like Lucifer / A jerk, proud and hard to love), powerful, immediate, and it comes with a “Visualizer” directed by Miguel Yubero. Eloquent and straightforward, knives in the air, knives on the floor, knives stabbed in tables and chairs, and the deadpan stare of our protagonists, tension that could be cut with a knife and a chorus like a mortal wound.

Elefant Records continues to be a source of sound material for filmmakers, and the latest proof is “La Amiga De Mi Amiga”, the debut film of Zaida Carmona (yes, the one who sang “La Llamada” with PAPA TOPO in Marc Ferrer‘s film “La Maldita Primavera”), which celebrated its presence on 1 February at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, as part of the Bright Future section. Two days later, on 3 February, and coinciding with the premiere in commercial cinemas in Spain, we are releasing the soundtrack just with the Elefant songs that appear in the movie, which in this case features SOFT REGIME, AIKO EL GRUPO, LISASINSON, JULIE ET JOE, BAND À PART, Giorgio Tuma, NOS MIRAN and FITNESS FOREVER. What a great selection! And as a gift we include in our edition the original version of “Lady Dilema” by Carlos Berlanga, which in the film is covered by Aroa Ay, from SHEGO. The film also features songs by MALAMUTE, MASONIERÍA (the solo project of Sonia, from PAPA TOPO), Rocío Saiz and CHRISTINA Y LOS SUBTERRÁNEOS. In fact, Christina Rosenvinge herself makes a cameo in the film.

“La Amiga De Mi Amiga” is a generational story, as Zaida herself says: “a five-way lesbian comedy of entanglement”, a story about women who love a lot, but love badly. A project that arises from the need to consolidate and reaffirm positive queer and/or feminist references, filmed in eleven days, wit [ Read more ]

After a few very busy months, with an intense performance schedule, we have discographic news from LISASINSON. In 2023, they will release a new album, “Un Año De Cambios”, and we have here a new advance, “Últimamente”. The song shows greater maturity in the guitars, in the way the dynamic works, but is just as furious and full of spite as always, speedy, aggressive, with lyrics that leave little room for metaphor:“Sería genial que mi gato no oliese a muerto como tú” (It would be great if my cat didn’t smell like death like you). Fury. Rage. Punk. The production is once again handled by the magical Carlos Hernández (CAROLINA DURANTE, AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, AIKO EL GRUPO, TRIÁNGULO DE AMOR BIZARRO).

And for the occasion, Miguel Yubero has prepared a video like a kind of visualizer, a loop with long shots in which a voyeur serves as a vehicle and a metaphor for all the negative emotions the song expresses. This advance predicts that our LISASINSON still have energy to keep on burning it up on the road.

After hearing LISASINSON’s renewed sound with the new era that their previous single, “No Sé Muy Bien”, opened, the group from Valencia is back with another big hit, one that makes you want to immediately sing along, where pop overwhelmingly triumphs. “Canción De Entretiempo” opens the path to tenderness, to poetry, and the most appealing costumbrismo, with a solid, agile, nervous sound with small echoes of post-punk (that bass) and, once again, with stratospheric choruses. LISASINSON’s concerts are for singing non-stop, and these new songs take it to the next level, both for volume and for the urge to dance. Danceable, so ephemeral that it needs to played on a loop, with those guitars with the delay that are so well recorded by Carlos Hernández (CAROLINA DURANTE, AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, AIKO EL GRUPO, TRIÁNGULO DE AMOR BIZARRO), and melodies that really hit the mark.

And Miguel Yubero is in charge, once again, of finishing off this Digital Single with a video that makes that “Canción De Entretiempo” (song for between seasons) an exercise in contrasts and textures: hot and cold, day and night, blues and oranges. And our protagonists giving life to one of those songs that hits deep, enjoying themselves while they sing and play, making us feel their love of life, the urgency to enjoy every second. These two singles so far from LISASINSON – just wow. And you don’t even kno [ Read more ]

After a 10” Mini-LP that has given punk rock fans and Riot Grrrls so much to talk about, LISASINSON are back on the music scene with an even more powerful sound and those addictive choruses they know how to make so well. The first look (of the many to come) is this “No Sé Muy Bien” where their usual references continue to pop up in the group’s lyrics: rejection, failed relationships, spite, and being fake. “Ya no quiero ser moderna / Ahora paso del post punk / No me invites a tu puta fiesta / No soy parte de ese club” (I don’t want to be a hipster anymore / I’m over post punk / Don’t invite me to your fucking party / I’m not a member of that club). Really fun rhymes, relentless distortion, catchy melodies and a new show of their ability to create immediate hits. And a more solid and aggressive sound, aided by the production work of Carlos Hernández (CAROLINA DURANTE, AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, AIKO EL GRUPO, TRIÁNGULO DE AMOR BIZARRO).

And specifically, moving away from the typical, this first Digital Single after “Perdona Mamá”, gives us a video by Miguel Yubero that goes beyond all stereotypes, an original idea from LISASINSON in tribute to Valencian pilota (a traditional sport in the Community of Valencia, similar to handball). Miguel puts our protagonists on a court (called a trinquet), where they play a game and also unleash their hit in one clean [ Read more ]

“New Adventures In Pop” collection [Issue 052]

It is finally here. After many advances that have only made us hungry for more – with songs like “Barakaldo”, “Atasco”, “Volverte A Enamorar” and “Canción Para Mi Crush” – we finally get to enjoy this Valencian group on this limited-edition Mini-LP (as part of our New Adventures In Pop collection, of course). It has nine songs that make it clear they meant what they were saying and doing on all of those advances, with that attitude that has gotten us so hooked on their sound: youthfulness, spontaneity, rebelliousness and overflowing energy. The album liner notes say it too: “These songs are about us. Getting a group together has been one of the best decisions we ever made”.

To open the release, we have “Atasco”, their song with the clearest echoes of the sixties, and a chorus that is like an epic poem: “En esta negra ciudad no bailarán / Las chicas ya no volverán / No volverán a bailar jamás” (In this dark city they won’t dance again / The girls will never dance again / Will never dance again). An anthem. It is clear that they are incredibly capable of cre [ Read more ]

With every step they take, LISASINSON stand out. Yes, they are all about furious guitars, the riot grrrl spirit. But their musical language transcends that formula. Their confidence and ease, how naturally they can incorporate details of the most current sounds, the youthful hurricane their songs unleash, all create an addiction that is hard to define. Something like the fountain of youth in the form of an audio drug. Their latest Digital Single, “Tú Y Yo”, is excellent proof of this. Catchy, hummable, radically contagious, with those Latin touches. “Me caes mal / No te puedo mirar / Me entran ganas de vomitar / Ya no puedo fingir que me haces reír” (I don’t like you / I can’t look at you / It makes me want to throw up / I can’t pretend you make me laugh).Visceral, immediate and direct.

What’s more, the audiovisual artifact thought up by the Videoclub collective (who have already made the latest LABORDE with CIBERCHICO and RARE) is just incredible. The four members take all their hatred out on a kind of pink bunny (Luisito Pleureur) and make a show of their attitude for the camera, making for a tremendously fun video. The artistic, photographic and stylistic work by LayeclaLagreco, Jorge Esparza y Alfonso Gavilán stands out again, with Emma Sánchez’s directing. And to top things off, the B Side contains a previously unreleased song – a cover of AEROLÍNEAS FEDERALES&rsq [ Read more ]
