Elefant Records continues to be the protagonist of the soundtracks of many of the new releases on video-streaming platforms. And this time in style. “In Love All Over Again” is the new series by Carlos Montero, creator of series such as “Élite” (which has more than 30 Elefant songs on its soundtrack), “The Mess You Leave Behind” (with 11 Elefant songs in its only season) or “Física Y Química”.

The first season of “In Love All Over Again” has eight episodes and has been released on Netflix last February 14th with the participation of Georgina Amorós, Franco Masini, Carlos González, Guillermo Toledo, Silvia Abril and many more actors and actresses that complete an incredible cast, and the direction of, among others, Carlota Pereda (currently on the front page for the award-winning “Piggy”) or Mateo Gil (“Nobody Knows Anybody”, “Blackthorn”, “The Minions of Midas”). On “In Love All Over Again” we can listen to up to 19 songs that have been released on our label, making up a soundtrack that features artists such as FAMILY, LA CASA AZUL, LA BIEN QUERIDA, JUNIPER MOON, LA MONJA ENANA, NOSOTRÄSH, LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE, COOPER and many more. The perfect musical backdrop for a funny, gentle and down-to-earth romantic comedy, with two protagonists who display superb chemistry. A joy to see and hear.

In 2003, “Un Soplo En El Corazón”, the FAMILY album that definitively shifted the evolution of pop music made in Spain and that became a landmark of a cult group like few we will enjoy in this lifetime, had its 10-year release anniversary. To celebrate that sweet heart attack, Elefant Records, in collaboration with Rockdelux magazine, released an album in homage to the original, with diverse artists, both new and renowned, giving brave, daring, revered versions of the songs that made up such an inimitable album.

Now that the album has reached its twentieth anniversary, so that it is available to everyone, everywhere, especially to the new generations, Elefant Records is rereleasing it in digital format, where we will once again be able to enjoy these daring and curious versions. Like the arid poetry of ANA D, the immense sweetness of LA BUENA VIDA, FANGORIA’s double homage, or the dreamy melancholy of the versions by LOS PLANETAS, AMA, PARADE, APENINO, and CHUCHO.

ASTRUD, the most daring with their priceless live vocal revision of “El Bello Verano” adorned with the eternal melody of “The Pink Panther” soundtrack, and LA CASA AZUL’s powerful version with a fun, imaginative Shibuya-Kei rhythm, also participated on the album. The homage, made with all the love in the world, went beyond the concept of homage and became a part of the mood of the moment, with songs that are key to our way of understanding music toda [ Read more ]

NOSOTRASH “La Primera Maqueta” (1995)

A few months ago we started the collection “Recuerdos Que Olvidé” (Memories I Forgot), which is set up to recover the lost songs and recordings of some of our favorite groups. The first release on the collection was a double 10” that gathered various demos and previously unreleased songs by AEROLINEAS FEDERALES.  We’re moving the collection forward with a magenta-colored, limited-edition vinyl single that recovers the very first demo of our beloved NOSOTRÄSH, who are undoubtedly one of the most representative bands of Elefant Records.

Recorded in 1995, with a line-up that, at the time, included Natalia, Bea, Montse, Eugenia and Cova, before the release of their first EP, this demo includes two original takes of their legendary “Voy a Aterrizar” and its unforgettable parapapapas. The second of these two takes is the “Vojtyla Mix” version, like a terrorist attack, opening with a sample of THE JACKSONS’ “Can You Feel It”. The previously unreleased song on this release is “Marie Lu”, sung in English, which would never make it onto any albums. The song notably takes pleasure in the noise echoes of that era, with a bridge full of dissonances but a verse that already points to the pop abilities of these Asturians. “La Felicidad Es Un Alegre Ritmo Moderno”, which was also included on their “Aterrizar EP” for RC [ Read more ]

After more than twenty years on the musical panorama, Elefant has released a few albums that have been marked as “special”, “unique” and “inimitable” in the history of Spanish pop. One of those albums is, without a doubt, “Popemas”, the third album by the Asturian group NOSOTRÄSH. Their one-of-a-kind perspective about song writing, like small snippets of half-finished songs, stripped of bridges, choruses and verses, reduced to their most essential condition, the melody, with lyrics written on loose scraps of paper, notebooks, napkins, even bus tickets, dazzled us all. That album released in 2002 is today a point of reference for so many artists, and of course, for the public and the critics, both here in Spain and elsewhere (John Peel played “Arte”, “Gloria”, and more of the group’s songs on his historic BBC program and always declared himself to be an unconditional fan of NOSOTRÄSH). It was the best album of the year for numerous specialized publications and even the prestigious RockDeLux named it the tenth best album of the decade, in a special edition of the magazine in which David Saavedra highlighted “a work of art that, for its bravery, clarity of ideas and inspiration, seems very hard to beat”. They solidified all of that on some of the most prestigious stages, from the Festival Internacional de Benicàssim to Primavera Sound.

What’s more, the album had an ex [ Read more ]

We’re finally opening our own YouTube channel! There was tons and tons of material to put up (and really, there’s still so much more), and Internet users can finally subscribe to the Elefant Records page on the most famous and visited video website in the world, which can be accessed from this web address: http://www.youtube.com/elefantrecords

For the channel’s official inauguration we’ve put up various new videos, some previously unreleased. You can enjoy the exclusive new video-clip of CORAZON’s “Nuevo Futuro” or SPEEDMARKET’s newest single, “No Drama”, which will be released in July and which we’re releasing the splendid new video-clip of in advance. There are a ton of LA CASA AZUL videos, plus interviews, live videos, reports… but the most exciting thing, for the moment, is definitely the video-clip of the English version of “La Revolution Sexual”. You can also find reports and interviews with COOPER that you most certainly haven’t seen, as well as three songs recorded live for the MySpace special, including the song “Mi Universo”, which is a completely new song not even included on Alex‘s latest work, “Aeropuerto”.

We have more than 100 video-clips from Elefant groups available (yes, all the videos from LA CASA AZUL, COOPER, CAMERA OBSCURA, NOSOTRÄSH, SINGLE, HEAVENLY, LOS FLECHAZOS, LUCKY SOUL, LA BIEN QUERIDA …) and a ton of extra pr [ Read more ]

One of the first references on Brooklyn based new label Hugpatch Records, is this limited edition of 500 7" vinyl copies by Spanish all-girl band NOSOTRÄSH, which we are also selling through our mail order service.

The single, with cover artwork by Pedro Balmaseda, has four soungs. Two of them ("Pez globo" and "Visita") are taken from "Cierra la puerta al salir", the most recent album by NOSOTRÄSH, produced by Pedro Vigil and Xel Pereda. The other two songs come from the sessions of the previous album, "Popemas", and were produced by Ibon Errazkin (LE MANS, SINGLE): "Tanga" had already appeared on the "Momentos perdidos" compilation we released a few years ago, and "Sólo soy una persona" is a previously unreleased cover version of Spanish 80’s legendary synth-pop band MECANO. Four gorgeous songs in glorious 7" vinyl, and a very limited edition. Don’t be too late or we’ll run out of them!

The first nonsense-pop movie

On March 23rd has been premiered in Spain the movie "The Svensson’s Syndrome", the first full length movie by Spanish filmmaker Kepa Sojo, who had already been awarded many times with his previous short movies, "100 maneras de hacer el pollo al txilindrón", "Looking for Chencho" and "Cuando puedas".

Defined as the first nonsense-pop movie, "The Svensson’s Syndrome" is a nonsensical, surrealistic, underground film with music as its background. The main characters travel in an absurd epic trip to Xàtiva, where there’s a pop megaconcert by the hype band of the moment, the KU-3. Music is a very important part of the movie, and on it we can listen to such important names in the independent music scene as FAMILY, LA CASA AZUL, TENDER TRAP, NOSOTRÄSH, JUNIPER MOON or MOGUL.

The original soundtrack has been composed by Basque composer Fernando Velásquez, who has been awarded with the Best OST Award at the Mostra de Valencia. In the movie’s music it’s specially remarkable the music composed for the fictitious bands appearing on it: "Los Balones" and "KU-3". Other genres like hip-hop and death metal are also mimicked in several moments of the score.

"The Svensson’s Syndrome" is starred by Adrià Collado, José Sancho, Lluvia Rojo, Eulalia Ramón, Secun de la Rosa, Alejandro Garrido, Fele Martí [ Read more ]

This next fall and winter, NOSOTRÄSH will play live the songs on their fourth album, “Cierra la puerta al salir”; in order to do this, the band has joined Malela, former member of the band (currently playing bass in GARZON and also on her solo project LE MOT), Mar Álvarez, a member of PAULINE EN LA PLAYA and former guitar player in fellow all-girl band from Xixon UNDERSHAKERS, and Xabel Vegas, member of MANTA RAY and singer guitarist with his own band LAS UVAS DE LA IRA.

NOSOTRÄSH have dedicated this summer to rehearse the show they will tour all over Spain, and will take advantage of the addition of such gifted musicians to surprise us all with a repertoire featuring songs from all their discography and new versions of their classic tunes, which make clear the intentions and renewed illusion of this new period for a northern pop band that has already arrived (in may 2005) its first ten years of existence.

After the excellent outcome of their video "Dando vueltas", NOSOTRÄSH have worked again with film director Juan Ugarriza on the second videoclip taken from their fantastic fourth album, "Cierra la puerta al salir". The song they have chosen for this new video is "Completamente sola", and the images they filmed to set it to images are the most beautiful postcards to illustrate with a melancholic beauty the feelings behind many of the songs in the album: the members of the band come out alone -completely alone, "completamente solas"- at their homes, preparing some tea or some coffee, reading, playing guitar or sharing their solitude with other lonely souls over the internet. The video has been shot in their hometown, Gijón, and as the song goes by they stop being alone: they meet the others at the Librería Paradiso in Gijón, one of those magical places where one can get lost in a world of wonderful books and records (they choose a Nabokov paperback; they look over the cover of a record by Serge Gainsbourg: solitude is more easily bearable with a good book and a good record).Juan Ugarriza, the director, has filmed other videos for independent Spanish bands such as TACHENKO (with whom he won the national contest Cinemad 2004) or GARZÓN, apart from two short films ("Imprevistos", from 2001, and "La piscina", shot in 2004) and other jobs on TV and commercials.

On October 24th, NOSOTRÄSH visited Madrid to record some live songs for several TV shows. Among others, NOSOTRÄSH presented their new live line-up playing several songs with the full electric line-up for the MTV show "Fiber", for which they also recorded an interview. The songs they played on MTV were "Dando vueltas", "Completamente sola" and "Puta conciencia".

Besides of this, the band played some acoustic tracks and answered an interview for another nationwide TV show, "Miradas 2", which is broadcasted daily on TVE’s second channel. [ Read more ]

Japanese label Rambling Records, which released in Japan NIZA’s “Canciones de temporada”, is well known and respected by its excellent editions of soundtracks (of such geniuses as Ennio Morricone), as well as deluxe compilations in diverse styles as easy listening or international pop. In fact, Rambling has used plenty times many songs from the Elefant catalogue for its compilations.

Since last year, Elefant and Rambling have started a collaboration which reflects in a series of compilations based in songs taken from Elefant’s big catalogue, chosen by both Rambling Records and ourselves. In 2004 came out “Amapola”, a compilation of quiet, relaxed atmosphere, which was very well received in Japan. In july this year, making the most of our visit to Japan for the Elefant parties with NIZA and LA CASA AZUL, Rambling will release a new reference on this series of compilations: “Candy Box”, in a much poppier and melodic style.

The tracklists from both compilations are as follow:

CANDY BOX01. Si me alejaste [ENTRE RÍOS]02. I love my Jean [CAMERA OBSCURA]03. Ups to you [ANNA & THE SPECTORS]04. Parasol [NIZA]05. Una mañana [ME ENVENENO DE AZULES]06.
