Elefant Records continues to be the protagonist of the soundtracks of many of the new releases on video-streaming platforms. And this time in style. “In Love All Over Again” is the new series by Carlos Montero, creator of series such as “Élite” (which has more than 30 Elefant songs on its soundtrack), “The Mess You Leave Behind” (with 11 Elefant songs in its only season) or “Física Y Química”.

The first season of “In Love All Over Again” has eight episodes and has been released on Netflix last February 14th with the participation of Georgina Amorós, Franco Masini, Carlos González, Guillermo Toledo, Silvia Abril and many more actors and actresses that complete an incredible cast, and the direction of, among others, Carlota Pereda (currently on the front page for the award-winning “Piggy”) or Mateo Gil (“Nobody Knows Anybody”, “Blackthorn”, “The Minions of Midas”). On “In Love All Over Again” we can listen to up to 19 songs that have been released on our label, making up a soundtrack that features artists such as FAMILY, LA CASA AZUL, LA BIEN QUERIDA, JUNIPER MOON, LA MONJA ENANA, NOSOTRÄSH, LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE, COOPER and many more. The perfect musical backdrop for a funny, gentle and down-to-earth romantic comedy, with two protagonists who display superb chemistry. A joy to see and hear.

A timely retreat is always a victory. After 35 years dedicated to pop music, my life’s greatest passion, the time has come to say goodbye. It’s time to change paths now, to start new projects and enjoy each day in a different way. Not even a drop of sadness; the only thing I feel is grateful. To Luis and Montse at Elefant Records, for having treated my work with so much affection and passion. I am so proud to have been a part of this great label. Grateful to Cristina, Julia and my mother, strong women and a constant inspiration. Thank you also to all the musicians I have shared the road and a blanket with in LOS FLECHAZOS and COOPER. Especially to Mario Álvarez and Dani Montero for their unbreakable loyalty and their unlimited generosity. Thanks to all the media – the music press, the digital media, and radio broadcasters that have supported my career. Very especially to Radio 3. And eternal thanks to our loyal fans, the only reason for having put off this decision until now. We have had the best fans and audiences possible and I hope that my songs play in your ears for a long time. I am going to miss you so much (come see me in Leon!)

We are keeping our current concert schedule, playing what we already have scheduled and anything else that comes up, until November 9, when we will play our last farewell concert in Madrid, at Ochoymedio Club (Sala But).

Until we meet again,

Alex Cooper

On October 5, two COOPER albums are being simultaneously re-released, two albums that were originally separated by nearly 14 years. Is this further confirmation that Alex Diez is a legendary musician who is timeless in the national pop scene, even beyond his career with LOS FLECHAZOScategoría Here, first of all, and due to how quickly the vinyl release of the last album, “Tiempo, Temperatura, Agitación”, sold out, and because of the tour that will soon begin in national territory, Elefant is going to put out a special re-release of that album, as a limited edition black vinyl.  It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity for those who didn’t get a vinyl copy of the first edition, and at the same time it lets us celebrate a new opportunity to enjoy the band’s stunning live show. On October 5, we will also release COOPER’s new video, starring the song “Dos Grados Bajo Cero” – the most danceable and hallucinogenic song from “Tiempo, Temperatura, Agitación” – directed by Juan Marigorta (Estudios Tripolares) and in which we find the ecstatic dances of Lady Secuela and Alex’s acting, bathed with psychedelic brushstrokes from the group’s universe and from the album’s graphic design.

On the other hand, and with the excuse of a series of re-releases we announced in 2014 for Elefant’s 25th anniversary, a new vinyl version of what was COOPER’s second album, “Retrovi [ Read more ]

Tiempo, Temperatura and Agitación are the three key parameters to keep in mind when you’re dealing with traditional film developing in photography. The developing process requires an artisanal meticulousness with the use of these factors, and they can change depending on the type of film, the maker, etc. and they can make a big difference in the final result. We imagine that fans of Álex Diez understand this perfectly. Because the three variables that give this new album its name (the fifth full-length with COOPER), reflect key aspects to his way of understanding music and, why not, the world: details, craftwork, passion and being careful with everything analogue and vintage.

But let’s take this analysis a little further. What does photography have to do with all thiscategoría What is Álex trying to tell us with this concept of the instantaneous image that is developed slowlycategoría We’re going to explain our own personal theory. Álex is a huge fan of photography, and it’s also possible that the message hides the idea of an album as a snapshot of an artist at a specific moment in time, a reflection of what he is personally and artistically, here and now. And maybe the message is about how difficult it is to achieve a final result you’re satisfied with; it’s the same as with traditional film developing – there are so many different factors that need your closest attention in order to get the desired resu [ Read more ]

The song that has been selected to be the first advance single of the album is “Infinito”, which is an instant classic in the group’s repertoire right from the first listen, and comes with a fantastic video by AfterliVeplagued with images of Barcelona, the “new city” the song’s lyrics allude to. Just like on the rest of the album, “Infinito” drinks from the waters of the sonic fountain of youth. Fresh, impetuous, passionate, energetic. The return of the New Wave spirit, updated and brought into our time.

Our 25th anniversary year has come and gone, but our collection of re-releases to celebrate such an important moment still has a lot to offer. We have already included artists like LA CASA AZUL, FAMILY, LA BIEN QUERIDA, TREMBLING BLUE STARS, LE MANS and JUNIPER MOON, among others, and old and new fans alike have quenched their thirsts. Álex Diez himself participated with COOPER, but now we have some fantastic new re-releases, at a very special moment. There have been diverse celebrations for the 30-year musical career of one of the most respected musicians on the national scene (not only among the mods): from the release of the album-book “Popcorner: 30 Años Viviendo En La Era Pop” (Popcorner: Thirty years living in the pop era) which was an entusiastic review of different moments in the discography of both LOS FLECHAZOS and COOPER, right up to that concert that took place in La Riviera (Madrid) in February (and they already have several more dates planned) – an emotional, exciting concert that brought the discographic review to life. And we have another little grain of sand to offer the celebrations, with the re-releases of LOS FLECHAZOS’ albums on the Elefant label between 1995 and 1996: “Alta Fidelidad” and “Días Grises”. Both will be released as LP + CD format, up to 1000 numbered copies of each, on color vinyl with extra tracks. “Alta Fidelidad” has two extra tracks, “Stop! In T [ Read more ]

We couldn’t let the date pass. With the label having just turned 25, with a collection to commemorate it containing names so far like LA CASA AZUL, TREMBLING BLUE STARS and LE MANS, and with the celebration of the 30 years of Álex Diez’s musical career, we couldn’t resist making a re-release of LOS FLECHAZOS material that was released on Elefant Records. Both the Mini-LP “Días Grises” and “Alta Fidelidad” will see the light again, in LP + CD format, on color vinyl, 1000-copy, numbered, limited-editions, with extras.

“Alta Fidelidad” was the grand entrance of the group from Leon to Elefant, the sixth full-length in their career, and ultimately their last. They were a group who carried the banner of so many of the precepts and ideas that define the way Elefant Records understands music, acheiving a lot without having to sacrifice their influences and their personality. The group at the time consisted of Francisco Vila (bass), Miguel Manero (drums), Elena Iglesias (keyboards) and Álex Diez (guitars), and they wrote what is undoubtably one of the best albums of their discography, which contains many of their regular qualities: great melodies, highly effective harmonies, and respect for pop, soul, and garage sounds. The album contained some of the biggest hits of their repertoire, like the perfect bullseye that is “En Tu Calle”, the rock’n’rolltouches of “Pussycat”, or th [ Read more ]

We’re moving forward with our collection of re-releases for Elefant Record’s 25th anniversary (which has already included names like LA CASA AZUL, TREMBLING BLUE STARS and LE MANS), and along with the re-release of LOS FLECHAZOS’ “Alta Fidelidad”, celebrating Álex Diez’s 30-year musical career, we are also releasing another of their great albums from Elefant Records, the Mini-LP “Días Grises”, which pushed the group from León onto the international stage. The re-release is in LP + CD format, on white vinyl, with a limited run of 1000 numbered copies, and extras.

Songs like “Cansado”, “Solo En Casa”, and “Fiebre” maintain the high level of their song writing, and confirm that their songs evoke a sound and an esthetic from the golden era of pop (beat sounds, mod esthetic, echoes of garage, northern soul, and sixties-pop), but they also add a current, renewed touch. In that period, the band’s line-up consisted of Elena Iglesias,Francisco Vila,Miguel Manero andÁlex Diez, and it would be the last release of their career.

And as if you were expecting anything less, we’re including a ton of extras. In addition to the six songs that made up the Mini-LP, on the B-side we’re including the single they put out on the British label Detour Records. There are two original songs, and two covers: “One More Try”, “Dream In My Mind” (a [ Read more ]

No te [ Read more ]

PRE-ORDERS already available on our website!

In honor of our twenty-fifth anniversary in 2014, we told you that we were going to celebrate it by re-releasing some of our most representative albums from these first 25 years of Elefant Records, as well as offer some exclusive releases. There will be 25 releases, including a documentary about the label, as well as a book. The re-releases of FAMILY’s “Un Soplo En El Corazón” and LA BIEN QUERIDA’s “Romancero” have already come out, and we’ve also released a very special homage to FAMILY’s legendary album. Now three new releases have arrived from this unique collection that, little by little over the next few years, will be completed.

First, that masterpiece, the beginning of a legend. In October, we are releasing LA CASA AZUL’s first album, “El Sonido Efervescente De La Casa Azul”, again. But we’re not just releasing it, we’re pulling out all the stops: on this double vinyl, we are including all the demos and takes that we included in the previous re-release on CD, and on top of that we’re adding six live songs recorded at a party for the radio program “Viaje A Los Sueños Polares” in Madrid’s Aqualung club in May, 2000. That’s 27 songs total for a really juicy re-release that also celebrates the 15th anniversary of the original release of an album that made so many things happen. In November, we ar [ Read more ]

"UHF" will be available in specialized shops on Record Store Day [April 18]. You can also make your order from April 19 on our Online Store

Álex Diez has always been a fan of all things vinyl, and the latest proof of this is from just a few weeks ago, with his latest Mini-LP, “UHF”, which was released on 12” format and CD. The release proved that our beloved mod icon has not lost even a drop of inspiration and good taste, which the wonderful, lively songs like “Entre Girasoles” and “Ideal” make perfectly clear. The fans’ answer was, once again, immediate, selling out the 750 copies in that first print in just a few days. That’s why, here at Elefant Records, we are going to make a special edition of the album for Record Store Day: 500 new purple-vinyl copies to celebrate a day that all music fans should celebrate effusively, and which Elefant is collaborating on with this small contribution.

In the meantime, Álex continues making his way across the Spanish map, thanks to this new handful of marvelous songs, which he is alternating between his successful night-time shows and “La Gira Del Aperitivo”, which has brought him to new venues and new audiences during the daylight hours. Who can resist COOPER’s songscategoría [ Read more ]

It was already announced with that marvelous single “Entre Girasoles”, and now it’s here. “UHF” is COOPER’s new Mini-LP, to be released on a fantastic limited-edition 12” vinyl + CD. This release brings a more luminous and vital Alex Diez back to us, with lyrics that look with sunny melancholy on those subtle stories that make our day-to-day lives richer.

And to start things off, “Ideal” shows just how in prime form he is. The exciting lyrics about chance meetings are home to 12-string guitars swaying with echoes of LOS PLANETAS, or, what is basically the same thing, the magical dialogue between sixties-pop and power-pop. “Entre Girasoles”, as we mentioned before, was already released as an advance 7” single, and is a summery song with a marvelous melody somewhere between LOS ÁNGELES and LA BUENA VIDA. “Bengalas” closes the first side with a rockier accent at a melancholic medium tempo that is, at the same time, full of electricity.

“Hipsters” opens the B-side, and it’s a direct connection with Brit-pop from the 90s, with songs by BLUR or SLEEPER, with that explosiveness that reminds us of ELASTICA. “Hipsters” goes back to the energy levels of his more energized songs, like “Ruido” and “Rabia”. “Brick Lane” is full of his passion for London, starting with the reference itself to Brick Land and those [ Read more ]

Alex Díez is back on the music scene, and he comes bearing innumerable gifts and surprises, which we will reveal little by little.  For now, all we can say is that it’s a good time to be a COOPER fan, because we are entering a new creative stage of the man who was once the frontman of LOS FLECHAZOS.

So far, may this white, 500-copy limited-edition, 7” serve as a taste of what’s to come. “Entre Girasoles” is an advance from their upcoming Mini-LP “UHF”. It has a delicious pop melody, with marvelous arpeggios and harmonies that remind us of LA BUENA VIDA and LOS BRINCOS and of the golden era of Spanish pop. The single’s B-side, however, shows COOPER’s power-pop side, with a cover of the American group, LOLAS. And the thing is, their “Silver Dollar Sunday” here becomes el “Dolar De La Suerte” (The Lucky Dollar), and it is taken to more electronic grounds than the original, without compromising its pop spirit, somewhere between SLOAN and TEENAGE FANCLUB. Pure enjoyment.

We know this single is going to make a lot of people impatient for what’s coming. We promise you that your expectations will be met and surpassed.
