We have been waiting impatiently for new songs from LA CASA AZUL to arrive. And it clearly wasn’t going to be an easy album. After having reached larger audiences, after having reached mainstream levels with their independent proposal, far from what the mainstream was used to, after having been heard both in small independent festivals as well as the return of Operación Triunfo, after having remixed Camilo Sesto’s “Vivir Así Es Morir De Amor” or having masterfully reconstructed and reinvented Nino Bravo’s whole album. From composing and producing FANGORIA’s latest hits, from writing songs for TV shows and movies, from being a judge on the talent show “Oh Happy Day” on TV3 or the teacher in the Operación Triunfo academy, from continuing with radio collaborations, from writing for different media, from writing and producing five songs for the children’s cartoon show “PINY: Instituto de Nueva York” (which Ali Howard of LUCKY SOUL sings on), from winning a Goya with a rumba, from DJing in the most important clubs in the country or making the latest version of “Sálvame” (made popular in Spain by Bibi Andersen in 1980) to headline the popular show on Tele 5. There have been so many things, and with so much variety, and above all they have all been created from the most independent spirit with the deepest love of music, that Guille Milkyway can be defined as unique and incompara [ Read more ]

LA CASA AZUL: “El Final Del Amor Eterno” video

Text by Juanma Carrillo

When I started working on “El Final Del Amor Eterno”, the first thing I thought was that it was a new challenge and also a huge responsibility to put images to what is clearly going to be one of LA CASA AZUL’s greatest hits. I got a bit of vertigo and a bit of writer’s block, faced with such a complex song, because when a song is this big, the feeling of not being able to measure up is very real. After a lot of thought, I decided to look past the “up-tempo” that was causing me to freeze up, and focus on the darkness of the lyrics, since at the time I was also going through something similar to what the song talks about. The complicated mix of a dance song that talks about a romantic crisis forced me to maintain a balance between the narrative and the rhythm. Ultimately, the micro-stories about characters that are going through different kinds of crises took over, as I didn’t want to only focus on the heartbreak. That’s why there are characters who don’t feel comfortable in their own skin, or who have lost faith in their family; it seemed like they could make up a group cast, once again led by a magical and special girl and an antagonist just as luminous, but at the end of her life’s trajectory.

I felt like this song was letting me show some of my soft spots; characters that are waiting for a miracle while they feel lonel [ Read more ]

It is clear that LA CASA AZUL’s new album, “La Gran Esfera”, is going to mark a before and an after in Guille Milkyway’s discography. It is a leap of faith in every sense. That puzzle that we were slowly putting together, and that has been revealing a composer who has taken a giant step forward, taken a suicidal turn. And nothing on this album is a better metaphor, to represent this new stage than this fourth advance, the fourth piece of the puzzle. “Nunca Nadie Pudo Volar” is a song about vital anxiety, about human stubbornness challenging scientific laws and even about our own stupidity. To this end, he uses the story of Franz Reichelt, an Austrian tailor who, in his obsession with overcoming the laws of gravity, jumped off of the Eiffel tower dressed in an impossible flying suit that he designed himself based on the drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci, to ultimately fall to his instant death, in a sadly famous moment that was filmed on February 4, 1912.

But this raw and heartbreaking story clashes with the dreamy spirit of the music, somewhere between Italian disco and dream, between Moroder and Rozalla, between style and hit, between the merciless four-four time signature and the unforgettable melody. Yes, Guille once again turns on the stylistic mixer and plays with that stylistically slippery effect again, making music that excites you and lifts you up, while the lyrics take you closer to hell or set you free. Nuances, readings, a wh [ Read more ]

The third advance Single of "La Gran Esfera", the new album by LA CASA AZUL.

Ataraxia (from ancient Greek ἀταραξία). F. phil.: State of mind characterized by tranquility, serenity and freedom from emotional disturbance with respect to the soul, logic and feelings. The human being, through reducing the intensity of passions and desires that can alter their mental and physical balance and strength in the face of adversity, reaches a balance and, ultimately, happiness.

Juanma Carrilo [Director of the  A T A R A X I A video]: I wanted to try to express in images the inexplicable feeling and chemistry that comes from desiring a person for the first time, as if you needed that person’s air to breathe. I decided to capture a simple story of love and encounters, but letting myself go with the flow in the dreamy moments, like the levitations that the ataraxic desire itself produces in the stars of the story. More than just trying to show, without being shy about it, sexual encounters that were full of passion and at the same time a certain pleasure in provocation and the possibility of being seen in public places, I decided to record it using primarily wide angle lenses as a small tribute to the grandiosity that the director Terrence Malick infuses in his movies, especially “The Tree of Life”. For the final scene, I had John Cameron Michell’s crazed “Shortbus” in mind, since the “lov [ Read more ]

What better way to start off this new year than with a new LA CASA AZUL songcategoría “La Gran Esfera” is taking shape, the puzzle is coming together piece by piece and soon we will be able to enjoy it as a whole. “El Momento” is the second advance single from LA CASA AZUL’s highly anticipated new album after the huge success of “Podría Ser Peor”, and it is a masterpiece – proof of Guille Milkyway’s endless talent and his ease for turning bitter lyrics into an immense ray of light and joy that pierces our heart and freezes it on the spot. This song sounds more contemporary than any of the group’s other songs, reinventing “synth-wave” and bringing it closer to “future disco”. It stirs Kavinsky’s spell and embellishes the disco melancholy of Luke Million and Fred Falke into a mix between the unease of the traditional and a futuristic fantasy. The vocals shine like never before and all the small vocal arrangements that accompany us through the song are so magical and suggestive that it’s like a light, fine summer rain where it seems like you’re not getting wet but in the end it soaks you to the bone, filling your body with freshness and life. This is LA CASA AZUL’s doctrine; this is the sound of 2018 – DAFT PUNK making futuristic Italo Disco; this is the true strength of the system, that feeling of a lost summer where you could have stayed forever, the announ [ Read more ]

This is the beginning of a new adventure, which will be just as exciting as the previous ones, all of which we, the fans of LA CASA AZUL, have experienced.

This song is for all of you. Thank you for your infinite patience and welcome to “La Gran Esfera” by LA CASA AZUL.

For many of us, unconditional fans of LA CASA AZUL, the wait has been almost endless and our need has been great. We have been waiting with you and like you – desperate and longing for that feeling to come back of listening to a new song by one of the most inspired, emotive, and fascinating artists that the music world has known in recent years.

As often happens in these cases, all this time we have had to wait is more than made up for by listening to just the first few seconds of “Podría Ser Peor”; it is the essence of LA CASA AZUL, that liquefier of styles and sounds that mixes to perfection all the ingredients that these Pop songs need to have in order to become instant, eternal hits. The luminous melodies, the love that is once again the main attraction with its joy for unhappiness and the pain of failure, songs to be played on starry summer nights, brushes of house music, disco arrangements, the emotive stops, the vocoders, all the strength of europop… This is all the definitive magic of Guille’s songs – a magic that goes straight to our hearts and moves us to extreme happiness despite the fact that we are singing at the top of ou [ Read more ]

PRE-ORDERS already available on our website!

In honor of our twenty-fifth anniversary in 2014, we told you that we were going to celebrate it by re-releasing some of our most representative albums from these first 25 years of Elefant Records, as well as offer some exclusive releases. There will be 25 releases, including a documentary about the label, as well as a book. The re-releases of FAMILY’s “Un Soplo En El Corazón” and LA BIEN QUERIDA’s “Romancero” have already come out, and we’ve also released a very special homage to FAMILY’s legendary album. Now three new releases have arrived from this unique collection that, little by little over the next few years, will be completed.

First, that masterpiece, the beginning of a legend. In October, we are releasing LA CASA AZUL’s first album, “El Sonido Efervescente De La Casa Azul”, again. But we’re not just releasing it, we’re pulling out all the stops: on this double vinyl, we are including all the demos and takes that we included in the previous re-release on CD, and on top of that we’re adding six live songs recorded at a party for the radio program “Viaje A Los Sueños Polares” in Madrid’s Aqualung club in May, 2000. That’s 27 songs total for a really juicy re-release that also celebrates the 15th anniversary of the original release of an album that made so many things happen. In November, we ar [ Read more ]

ORDERS here!

Elefant Records, in its constant search for new ideas and projects, is beginning a new collection of limited-edition Singles called “Reworked By Series”. The main idea is that groups on the Elefant label appropriate, play with, and remix each others’ songs. It’s an explosive mix that can create (and has, in fact, already created) really exciting cocktails. We’ve already got our hands on the first two releases from this collection, Guille Milkyway and LA CASA AZUL’s remake of ATTIC LIGHTS, and THE PRIMITIVES songs that MODULAR “perpetrated”. The Argentinian group MODULAR has once again created a cosmic, spacey world based on Paul Court’s guitars and Tracy Tracy’s vocals, making “Purifying Tone” and “Lose The Reason” theirs. And Guille does his thing, making a few new Eurodisco hits from “Future Bound” and “War Years”, two songs from the Scottish band fronted by Kevin Sherry.

Could you say the re-mixers have made their own songscategoría Almost, but also not at all. Those riffs, the vocals, the arrangements, and the melodies that belong to the original versions are special raw material, practically unprecedented, for the “re-constructors”, creating an alloy that is unprecedented, surprising, different, and most important of all, highly enjoyable. The Singles from this new adventure will be released in 500-copy limited-editions o [ Read more ]

“Los Anillos De Alcyone (21-12-2012)” is LA CASA AZUL’s contribution to our first Christmas album, “A Christmas Gift For You From Elefant Records”. Guille wanted to give Christmas a spacy sound, and he created a science-fiction Christmas adventure that includes an exterrestrial visit, in which the visitors bring us cosmic light. Now, from “El Laboratorio de Band À Part" (Band À Part’s laboratory) we travel to 1953 to enjoy the video that Guille wanted to be, above all, an homage to the science fiction movies of the 50s and to the era of extraterrestrial phenomena; alien abductions, visits from beings from other planets, and stories full of fantasy and mystery were on the rise due to a generalized interest in the future and its scientific and technological advances. Javi and Coral have gone through some of the classics from that time (“It Came From Outer Space”, “Invasion of the Saucer-Men”, "Earth vs. The Flying Saucers", "The Man from Planet X", "The Day the Earth Stood Still"…) to create this little story that reveals that Guille first visited the earth at the beginning of the 50s!!!

In 2003, “Un Soplo En El Corazón”, the FAMILY album that definitively shifted the evolution of pop music made in Spain and that became a landmark of a cult group like few we will enjoy in this lifetime, had its 10-year release anniversary. To celebrate that sweet heart attack, Elefant Records, in collaboration with Rockdelux magazine, released an album in homage to the original, with diverse artists, both new and renowned, giving brave, daring, revered versions of the songs that made up such an inimitable album.

Now that the album has reached its twentieth anniversary, so that it is available to everyone, everywhere, especially to the new generations, Elefant Records is rereleasing it in digital format, where we will once again be able to enjoy these daring and curious versions. Like the arid poetry of ANA D, the immense sweetness of LA BUENA VIDA, FANGORIA’s double homage, or the dreamy melancholy of the versions by LOS PLANETAS, AMA, PARADE, APENINO, and CHUCHO.

ASTRUD, the most daring with their priceless live vocal revision of “El Bello Verano” adorned with the eternal melody of “The Pink Panther” soundtrack, and LA CASA AZUL’s powerful version with a fun, imaginative Shibuya-Kei rhythm, also participated on the album. The homage, made with all the love in the world, went beyond the concept of homage and became a part of the mood of the moment, with songs that are key to our way of understanding music toda [ Read more ]

Roughly one year ago, on a day just like today we published the "La Fiesta Universal" video-clip. To celebrate this first anniversary we are pleased to share the new and improved "Full Version" of this audiovisual production with the supporters and fans of LA CASA AZUL. We think it’s amazing. Because of the times we live in, where everything goes at such a fast pace, there was no time to follow through with all of the ideas that Jean-Marie Marbach had bouncing around in his head. Over the past year this genius of the audiovisual world has managed to incorporate all the details and create the new scenes without which he thought the first version of the video-clip was just a little incomplete.

The new version features three kinds of changes: changes that are purely visual, changes linked to sound effects and changes that have a significant impact on the storyline, which are the most appreciable.

The purely visual changes are:

• A lot of set elements were added throughout the entire first scene where Guille wakes the android up. Before, the set was very dark and empty. Now there are blinking light tubes scattered around to fill up the empty space.• The Polynesian mountains are completely new.• The rest of the changes are corrections to Guille's helmet reflections, corrections to incorrect framings for some of the android shots and color timing corrections to enable a better color palette.

As regards sound effects: a proper mix of the [ Read more ]
