This year, the Teatro Nacional de Cataluña, led by its director, Sergi Belbel, has decided to dedicate the 2012-13 program of the Nacional’s Grande Room almost entirely to young playwrights. And here at Elefant Records we are celebrating that “La Dona Vinguda Del Futur”, written and directed by Marc Rosich and with Guille Milkyway’s special participation, is among the plays included in the program.

The play is partially conceived as a musical, for adults and children (but especially geared towards children 8 and over), and it begins by showing the morning routine of Albert’s family, who live at the speed the TV commercials set. After a an accident at home that leaves them all covered in stains, a woman dressed in galactic attire comes out of the TV screen: the woman from the laundry detergent commercial comes from the future to help them. But the situation surprises the family so much that, after a series of misunderstandings, the woman gets trapped in the present reality. While Albert tries to find a way to return her to the future, the cybernetic woman grows accustomed to the family and stirs up the peace and quiet of their home.

This play is an important step in Marc Rosich’s career – he is one of the most important young artists on the current theater scene, and the usual playwright of the controversial Calixto Bieito in shows like “Voices”, “Don Carlos” and “Plataforma&rdq [ Read more ]

New release on Elefant’s “Recuerdos que olvidé” (Memories I Forgot) Collection

One of the collections we are treating like our favorite child at Elefant, and the one that has been most well-received by our followers, is “Recuerdos que olvidé” (Memories I Forgot), which collects demos and previously unreleased recordings from some of our favorite and our most representative groups. We inaugurated the collection with AEROLINEAS FEDERALES, continued with NOSOTRÄSH, and now our third release is going to be nothing less than a limited-edition copy of MILKYWAY’s first demos, which were mostly recorded before the start of LA CASA AZUL.

The demo concept has always been associated with an early stage of a song, sometimes even rougher, but always with a special charm, and in which you can trace the essence of the songwriter.  “Up, Up And Away (Home Demos 1993-2002)” is full of great songs and huge hits that are so typical of our songwriter. What’s amazing here is how, in 1993, in a room, with an analog 4-track (for the songs from before 1996) and a digital 8-track (the songs after 1996), there are already songs as incredible as “Over” – the final track on this album – almost 10 years before LA CASA AZUL’s first full-length was released. 14 songs that highlight all the things we now know about Guille: his versatility, his wide range of styles, his unlimited im [ Read more ]

Good news for LA CASA AZUL fans and followers – here at Elefant we’re going to re-release one of their most looked-for releases, the single “Como Un Fan”, a four-song, CD-Single released in June, 2005. In honor of this special occasion, we’re going to release it as a limited-edition, 10” white vinyl with two extra songs that aren’t on the original release.

The original release of the single included, apart from the title track – one of the hymns of Guille Milkyway’s repertoire, taken from his album “Tan Simple Como El Amor” – two previously unreleased songs that so far have only been available on the original single, and which could stand alone on any of LA CASA AZUL’s albums. “Viva (Un Poco Más) El Amor” begins with that hypnotic vocal symphony inherited from Brian Wilson at his most inspired and gives way to a sunny, summery song, nourished and energetic as only our beloved Guille can do. “Debería Plantearme Cambiar&r [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01. Somos De Nesquik 02. Somos De Nesquik (Instrumental) 03. Échale Nesquik 04. Échale Nesquik (Instrumental)

SINGLE 7" [Vanilla Colour Vinyl] [Limited Edition 700 Copies]  Includes a free digital MP3 download [320 kbps]

Many people know the facet of Guille Milkyway as a composer for commercials, television shows (now on televisions all over the world with “Jelly Jamm”), and movie soundtracks (with a Goya for “Yo, Tambien”). That’s why Elefant Records is going to release a very special single with the two theme songs that Guille wrote for the ad campaigns for Nesquik, in both the radio and the instrumental versions. Back in 1979, Jacno, of the duet ELLI ET JACNO (songwriters for Lio’s hit “Amoureux Solitaires”) wrote a song for Nesquik based on his big hit, “Rectangle”, a song that Guille has always liked.

Of the two songs, the first, “Échale Nesquik”, recorded in 2008, has that speedy pop sound so personal to and associated with LA CASA AZUL, and the numerous collection of arrangements that are the house specialty. On the other side, from 2012, “Somos De Nesquik” shows us a more saturated sound that is danceable and modern, with its sights set clearly on the dance floor. Further, the digital version of the single will include versions of both songs in Catalan, and some really curious additional takes, like the “Soft Pia [ Read more ]

We just got to Valencia and we can’t wait to tell you about LA CASA  AZUL’s incredible tour-opening concert . The Mirror club was full with all tickets completely sold out and Guille was exuberant and exultant like we’ve rarely seen him before. He was backed on stage for the first time by two musicians, and they played a selection of the best songs from LA CASA  AZUL’s discography, including a good part of “La Polinesia Meridional”. The stage set was incredible, full of imagination and fantasy, with a light and color spectacle that went beyond a concept and a projection and became an integral part of the concert, thanks to the interaction with the musicians and the songs, something we dare to say is practically unheard of with national groups. Don’t miss a single one of their upcoming concerts!!

Without even enough time to wake up from the dream, we’re bringing you the video, specifically, for “La Polinesia Meridional”, created by Jean-Marie Marbach. He is a respected director in the audiovisual world, and he has won prizes in several festivals in the world with his video for THE GENTLE PEOPLE, “H20”, which is an incredible futuristic hallucination. In this case, we can watch Guille escape from a force-field in order to get to paradise, his Polinesia Meridional. The video delves deeper into the escapist concept that runs throughout the album and ends in a precious, exciting and evoc [ Read more ]

LA CASA AZUL’s concerts always try to transport the audience to a work full of color and fantasy, a visual experience that goes beyond the typical concept of a concert. They are an explosion of energy that is projected from the stage and, like a futuristic medicine, carried through the air like a virus that penetrates the bodies of the audience members and takes them to total ecstatic happiness. “La Polinesia Meridional” is an ode to escapism, and its accompanying tour is trying to be, above all, this: a parenthesis in time, in our lives, a relaxing moment to disconnect from everything and enjoy the songs of Guille Milkyway.

After years of waiting, the new album has arrived, and in March we can finally begin to enjoy LA CASA AZUL’s concerts again, but this time with new scenery and a lot of new things. See you in the Polinesia Meridional!!
