We love introducing new groups. For us, it’s like giving you a present wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper, with an incredible surprise inside.  And SOFT REGIME is one of the best presents we could give you right now. They are an European band, consisting of a French woman (the singer Astrid Rostaing), a German (the producer and songwriter Christian Flamm), and an Englishman (Tim Benton, songwriter, lyricist, and once-frontman of BAXENDALE), their first single is named after an Italian artist, which they are releasing on a Spanish label. These curious circumstances truly represent the paradigm of a band without borders, but with a clear focus on togetherness and polished dance floors. The line that summarizes the group’s concept says it all: “To be strict on softness, but soft on strictness, to make hot emotional pop in a glacial synthetic frame”.

“Michelangelo” is the lead song on their first single – a true ode to europop, with vocoders, luminous melodies, and super-danceable choruses. The total dancefloor-filler will definitely be played on european walkmen for a long time. “Pedestrian Sunset” comes in a curious format – the song is divided between the A and B-sides on the physical single, maintaining high levels of energy. To wrap things up, the statement of intent that is their cover of “The Queen Of Seville” by THE CLIENTELE (a British group with a cult following, one of whose first sing [ Read more ]

After touring Italy and the UK, our beloved Italian composer and producer, GIORGIO TUMA, is heading to Japan for a tour that consists of 9 concerts in various Japanese cities, for the release of his fabulous album, “This Life Denied Me Your Love”, released on Dessinee, like his other previous releases.

After how incredibly the island in Asia received ALPACA SPORTS and IKO CHÉRIE, Tuma is taking over the country and releasing an exclusive single, specifically for the tour. His recent, unhurried, relaxed, and tremendously precious songs feel like they are tailor-made for Japanese spirituality, and the country has received all this Italian’s releases really well.

After their new line-up and the magnificent album “El Fin Del Mundo”, COLA JET SET continue giving us presents in the way of singles, in this case it is a total statement of purpose. “Lo Mejor Está Por Llegar” is the latest digital single from the album, which includes two previously unreleased songs (both written by Alícia, who continues to prove herself as a stronghold in the current version of the Catalan band) and a really fun video. The title track gives us one of the best pop-punk moments on the album, reminding us of some of the best moments from the group’s beginnings. “Escríbeme A Mí” coincides with one of the most successful lines of work in recent times: a precise soul-pop track that, through a wink to BLONDIE, creates a tribute to the music and all the bands we are fans of, to that indescribable feeling that only music can give us. “Septiembre”, the closing track, talks about all the heartaches and bitter feelings that the end of summer leaves, all together in the month that brings the start of school with it. Especially and above all if we leave our summer love behind.

The video is directed by Ángela Ulloa again, and it takes us through a fun sort of Groundhog Day with reality repeating itself over and over. It stars Joan Pernil, the group’s old drummer, with appearances by Felipe and the rest of the members of the group, and it holds a hilarious and unexpected end [ Read more ]

The songs released so far by Castellon’s Lia Pamina have been marked by, on the one hand, the influences of female voices like Claudine Longet,Astrud Gilberto andFrançoise Hardy, and on the other hand, collaborations with important song-writers and producers who have dressed her songs and lyrics. That’s what happened on her debut single with Robbie Leff (Johnny Winter, Alice Cooper, THE CRABS), Roger Gunnarson (PUSHY PARENTS, THE GARLANDS) and Le Prix (PUSHY PARENTS, Kylie Minogue, Sally Shapiro). Her first full-length is sponsored by one of our most-loved names currently on Elefant Records’ roster: Joe Moore (THE YEARNING).

Lia Pamina’s voice and Joe Moore’s songs seem like they were destined to find each other. The sweetness and freshness of the former, and the imagination and fantasy of the latter, all poured into the evocation of a certain sound – music from the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s – where we follow them as they visit some of their favorite names, on an album that seems like it was conceived as a journey. Though this album is really conceived as a tribute to love. But let’s take this step by step. Or, better yet, song by song.

“Better Off Without You” begins with the trademark details, so close to other groups that work within the same parameters, like THE SCHOOL and CAMERA OBSCURA: an effective melody, a catchy chorus, and an exquisite result. “Walking Away” is o [ Read more ]

This is the beginning of a new adventure, which will be just as exciting as the previous ones, all of which we, the fans of LA CASA AZUL, have experienced.

This song is for all of you. Thank you for your infinite patience and welcome to “La Gran Esfera” by LA CASA AZUL.

For many of us, unconditional fans of LA CASA AZUL, the wait has been almost endless and our need has been great. We have been waiting with you and like you – desperate and longing for that feeling to come back of listening to a new song by one of the most inspired, emotive, and fascinating artists that the music world has known in recent years.

As often happens in these cases, all this time we have had to wait is more than made up for by listening to just the first few seconds of “Podría Ser Peor”; it is the essence of LA CASA AZUL, that liquefier of styles and sounds that mixes to perfection all the ingredients that these Pop songs need to have in order to become instant, eternal hits. The luminous melodies, the love that is once again the main attraction with its joy for unhappiness and the pain of failure, songs to be played on starry summer nights, brushes of house music, disco arrangements, the emotive stops, the vocoders, all the strength of europop… This is all the definitive magic of Guille’s songs – a magic that goes straight to our hearts and moves us to extreme happiness despite the fact that we are singing at the top of ou [ Read more ]

We are moving forward with our special collection of re-releases to celebrate Elefant Records’ 25th anniversary. In 2014 we turned 25, and we announced our plans to release a collection of 25 editions with a focus on vinyl, on attention to every detail in every release, some extra tracks and many surprises both for fans and for newcomers who weren’t able to buy the albums by THE SCHOOL, TREMBLING BLUE STARS, LE MANS, JUNIPER MOON and LOS FLECHAZOS, among others, when they were first released. We’re back to new re-releases from LA CASA AZUL, from the magnificent “Tan Simple Como El Amor” (in black, 1000-copy, numbered, limited-edition vinyl), and their big hit, “La Revolución Sexual”, with a special double-vinyl release, which will have the album’s original songs and the extras, covers of other groups and songs from the album in other languages with special collaborations, which were included on that second part of the album that was “Lo Que Nos Dejó La Revolución”. In this case, the release will be on transparent vinyl, with a different colored album cover and sleeve by Gregorio Soria, the original designer of the first edition of the album, as a numbered,1000-copy limited-edition.

We are continuing with the re-releases for Elefant Records’ 25th anniversary collection. This time, we’re back with a small gem that turned out to be the only full-length from the group formed by Roberto Martín and Silvia Sanz, or as they were also known, NIZA. Their moment on the Spanish pop scene was as fast and bright as a shooting star, and with only one LP and two singles their music was heard in France, England, USA, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan… Their releases sold out at the speed of light, and the rarities, B-sides, and lesser-known work that were scattered by labels half the world over turned them into collector’s items. “Canciones de Temporada” (2002) was such a special album, marked by those two solstices – summer and winter – that closed each of the sides of the vinyl. In hindsight, we have the feeling it was an unpredictable incident, an exquisite earthquake, something inimitable.

Mark Radcliffe played them on the BBC; LAMPCHOP had them as special guests in three concerts in Spain; the first edition of their album sold out in less than a month; they were at the top of best-seller lists in FNAC after being named “Talento FNAC”; they participated in the Gira Soft Pop Tour in Madrid; they performed with Britain’s TREMBLING BLUE STARS, HARPER LEE, and LOVEJOY; their albums were licensed for sale in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan… What they did worked so well it seemed simple, [ Read more ]

This October, it has been one year since Elefant Records released “When You Need Me The Most”, the fantastic 10” Mini-LP by our beloved ALPACA SPORTS. It is a precious album, that makes it clear how good the Swedish group is at crafting eternal, delicious, enjoyable pop songs, like “There's No One Like You”, “Just Like Them”, “Need Me The Most” and “I Love You”. And, in honor of the occasion, we are celebrating the anniversary with the release of a new video, the fourth and final one taken from this Mini-LP. This time, the featured song is the wonderful “Where'd You Gocategoría”, and the video shows us the band’s recent tour in Japan, interweaving concert scenes with diverse Japanese experiences.

ALPACA SPORTS are currently working on songs for their new LP, which is expected to be released in 2017, and which we will have more news about soon.

Giorgio Tuma is going to Britain this October to present his fourth album, “This Life Denied Me Your Love”. Tuma’s arrangements and compositions on this album unleash an elegant nocturnality. This leg of the tour will take him to six British cities, including Nottingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester and London. That last concert, which will take place at The Lexington, will be really special, thanks to the presence of Iko Chèrie, DEERFUL, and Laetitia Sadier. The once-singer from STEREOLAB will be joining Giorgio on stage to sing. We tremble with just the thought of seeing Sadier and Tuma together on stage singing marvelous songs like “Maude Hope”, “Release From The Center Of Your Heart” and “Anna, My Dear”.

In November, he will present the album in his own country on an extensive tour that will take him to 9 different Italian cities.

Dates for Japan and Spain will be announced soon. For all dates confirmed so far, go to:

Another Elefant Records artist will be on tour in Japan very soon. Iko Chérie is going to support their first album, “Dreaming On”, on the Asian island. This first album by Marie Merlet, after her adventures in MONADE (with Laetitia Sadier), ZOOEY, and LISBONNE, is a model of elegance and love of music, great melodies and sweet arrangements influenced in equal parts by French singers like France Gal and the refined soul of Irma Thomas. From the 22nd to the 30th of October, the French artist will visit several Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Kyoto and Sendai, where she will undoubtedly leave her mark with her marvelous songs.

We are still sifting through some of the biggest moments from LINDA GUILALA’s new album, “Psiconáutica”, an album spiritually connected in equal parts to MY BLOODY VALENTINE and LOS PLANETAS, full of immediate hits infected with noise and feedback. And now we have “Accidente”, a song that lets us get a glimpse of their most urgent spirit, a link to Iván and Eva’s past in JUNIPER MOON, though the main thing that differentiates them from the ancestors is this: JUNIPER MOON would have made 8 songs in the 42 minutes of this album, whereas LINDA GUILALA, in that same amount of time, have 20. Urgency and noise, psychedelia and ambiance, but above all, melodies.

All of this is clear on this digital single, which will include a previously unreleased track – a cover of “Sé Girasol”, a song that was on the SILVANIA’s first EP, released in 1992, and who were one of the first shoegaze groups that existed in Spain. To top it all off, there is a new video filmed by Javi Camino (Magnetova), where the color filters play and increase the hallucinogenic feeling, but also clash with the realism of the car scrapyard where the action takes place. For sure, this is another dose to help us keep going in the daily grind, with an album that is set up to be an important reference in the history of the noisiest, most enveloping pop.
