Ever since we announced the release of “La Revolucion Sexual” a true revolution has broken out amongst LA CASA AZUL fans. The tickets to both of the Madrid concerts in Sala Sol (Nov. 16th and 17th)  have been sold out since last week, clearly demonstrating the excitement this new album is causing .  We felt the fever rise with the number of LA CASA AZUL fans when the album was released in FNAC in Madrid and Barcelona, with lines of people cueing for Guille Milkyway to sign their copy of the new release: the cds quickly sold out, and Guille ended up autographing until the stores closed their doors to the public. The same positive energy ignited at the Elastico Club in Madrid where fans were waiting patiently outside before the club even opened: it’s clear that the LA CASA AZUL phenomenon would not exist without the faithfulness and enthusiasm of fans. Without you, none of this would be possible. Although we were ecstatic with the ticket sales this weekend in Madrid, we’re left with a bittersweet sensation for those of you who were not able to purchase tickets. Do not be discouraged and do not throw out the possibility of seeing upcoming concerts in other cities (and sharing the experience with fans from other parts of the country).

Throughout this week you can hear Guille presenting songs from the album on the radio program Siglo 21 on Radio 3, read interviews in various national newspapers such as: Tuesday Nov. 13tth (PÚBLICO Newspape [ Read more ]

If you have been as excited as we were when we told you there is a new album by LA CASA AZUL, you will even more surprised by the ultra-modern, hyper-exciting approach the band will give to their new live act. The new shows will be very different to what producer Guille Milkyway used to do until now: it will be an audiovisual, technological experience, a total performance designed to surprise. The shows will be full of unexpected actions with a concept that’s very different to what you’re used to see in a pop concert. You can believe us when we we tell you that no one will be deceived by these shows, and people will talk very much and very long about them.

Before this groundbreaking and spectacular staging, Guille will perform acoustic concerts in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as sign copies of his CDs.

In Madrid, a record release party will take place in Club Elástico where the video “La Revolución Sexual” will be projected (hint-hint as to the direction ofhis show) and Guille will be spinning his favorite tunes with give-aways and lots of other surprises!

After these parties have passed, whenever you see an ad for a concert by LA CASA AZUL you have to make sure you take good note of this information: you will be pleasantly surprised and, most probably, will end with your mouth wide-open.

We were so anxious for this moment to arrive: at least, new album by LA CASA AZUL! It will be named "La revolución sexual" ("The sexual revolution"), and it features thirteen new songs where Guille Milkyway makes a big step forward in the evolution of his sound and the concept of one of the more successful records we have ever released in Elefant Records. This album is not only awaited in Spain, but also in many other countries where LA CASA AZUL is a much beloved name, as Japan, Mexico, Korea, Singapore and many others.

On this new release we will discover one of the best kept secrets of our age: the boys and girls in the band… are not human! They are humanoids, programmed by Guille so that they can perform his hyper-tech, super-vitaminic, heavily Nippon influenced pop songs! Soon we will let you know more about this, but you must also know that in the new songs by LA CASA AZUL both sound and the themes they sing about evolve towards new landscapes, without losing the direction they have always followed: love and despair are not the only axis on the songs anymore, but we find other feelings as frustration, failed relationships or personal fears; but the music does not lose its chirpy, effervescent qualities at all: this goes to the extreme and the new songs sound even more technological, more Made in Shibuya than ever.

We will soon have a videoclip of the title track (directed, of course, by house director Domingo González), and you wi [ Read more ]

Many months have passed ever since HELEN LOVE was signed onto Elefant Records and put out their first single on our label and the endless waiting for the arrival of new songs has been far too long for the group’s fans. We have anxiously awaited for this moment and are finally able to announce the release of the new single, a splendid and explosive appetizer of the imminent brand-new album, “It’s My Club and I will Play what I want to, “ the fifth album of their musical journey, which will be out at the beginning of 2008. Is there any better way to start out the new yearcategoría

“It’s My Club” (the new single and the tune which will open their full-length) is an absolute hit and a declaration of principles which perfectly define the spirit of HELEN LOVE; Bubblegum-indie-punk-rock-disco fast and catchy; a boundless night dancing under the stars until sunrise in a dreamy club with amazing dance floors, gigantic video screens (with the RAMONES live in 1976, of course), laser rays, strobe lights, multicolour light shows and the best pick of music, courtesy of our hostess Helen, just to enjoy the magnetism to the fullest on a great summer night in a special Club. Two exclusive songs are also included on this special limited edition single; “Boots On” with a tribute of the classic late 70s song “Video Killed the Radio Star” by THE BUGGLES and “Jennifer Hanley” a rock star which every adolescent kid on th [ Read more ]

"The last holy writer" -the sixth album by TREMBLING BLUE STARS, the second one to be released worldwide through Elefant Records- is the proof that one of the most influential bands in indie-pop is at its most creative, daring and inspired, now more concentrated than ever in writing the most beautiful pop songs you’ve heard for ages. On this sixth long-player, Bobby Wratten‘s writing climbs to its highest peaks, free of any stylistic ties and ready to explore new territories, without leaving aside his sensitive ambient-pop, evocative melodies and the eternal reference to the sound of the early 80’s/ post punk. The album has received excellent reviews worldwide, and it is doing very well everywhere, specially in France, USA, Great Britain and Germany.

The stand alone "Exploring the shadows" EP features, as always, many previously unreleased tracks. Both in its CD and 7" formats, this EP is again a deliberate attempt by the band to stand up for the single in an age when they can be little more than trailers for the album, which is seen as the main event. We think that, in the age of the internet and digital downloads, it’s the song that is important again; and we have always loved singles anyway, so this release is for us as dear as the forthcoming album (to be released by the end of April). So, the "Exploring the shadows" EP features on its CD format four exclusive songs that were recorded as part of the album sessions [ Read more ]

You will be glad that summer’s over: Elefant Records takes you back to school. If you like other bands on the label like CAMERA OBSCURA or LUCKY SOUL, you will surely enjoy this very new British band everybody will be talking about very soon, THE SCHOOL. An adorable band that combines a charming indie-pop spirit with the production tricks they learnt after compulsive listens to the records by Brian Wilson and Phil Spector, fronted by Liz from THE LOVES. Its members are all from Cardiff (Wales), except for drummer Rob, who also plays with THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO. After only four gigs they have already signed to Elefant, and in september they record their first single, "All I wanna do", produced by Ian Catt (SAINT ETIENNE, TREMBLING BLUE STARS, NOSOTRÄSH). A limited edition vinyl single that will give way to their debut full-length, full with sunshine-pop gems that will make you think about summer when you hear THE SCHOOL.

In October it will be ten years since we released one of the most unique records that have ever been done in Spain and, we dare say, elsewhere. A kind of cosmic-melodic chanson that had never been done before and has not been done ever since. Ana D has become since then a legendary name to whisper to each other’s ears, and we want to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her only official album as it deserves: with a full re-release that rises to its condition of lost classic album, joining an extra bonus album that enhances even more the new release.

Today, "Satélite 99" sounds as fascinatingly weird and beautiful as it did the first day. As if a more sophisticated Martin Rev collaborated with a tattooed, black-haired Nancy Sinatra, or with a mysteriously distant Astrud Gilberto, on this album Ana D and her companions, producers and arrangers (Ibon Errazkin and Javier Corcobado) used vintage instruments and forgotten beat boxes to create their own kind of "acoustic synth-pop", with references that ranged from Kurt Weill and Serge Gainsbourg to SUICIDE themselves.

Since ten years ago, "Satélite 99" is a secret pleasure that has not stopped bewitching new followers with a formula that is as simple as it is effective: a voice that’s always on the verge of breaking, and minimal arrangements that don’t try to do anything else than enhancing the timeless beauty of the songs. Since the very moment when it was released, the [ Read more ]

Music by bands on Elefant Records has been used very often as the perfect dressing for movies, TV series and several commercials. Many music advisors and publicity executives are fans of the label and its bands, and obviously a big part of the music we release is ideal for this task. The last experience we’ve had on this note is the ad for the new Samsung mobile telephone, where two songs from our catalogue have been chosen as soundtrack to its images: "Avalon" by BEEF (already used in the US on a "Summerland" episode) and the new song by LA CASA AZUL "Un mundo mejor" (which will be included on their next album, "La revolución sexual"). Besides, the ad has been directed by a longtime friend, director Domingo González (who directed the short film "Las superamigas contra el Profesor Vinilo", and videos by LA CASA AZUL or CAMERA OBSCURA). So get ready to watch daily on TV an ad with pop aesthetics and delicious music in the background. We wish all TV would be like this. Click here!

On the day they were finishing their successful series of shows at El Sol in Madrid, presenting the EP "Días de cine", Alex Diez said jokingly that COOPER were "Spanish pop’s best kept secret". The game continues, because the band’s seventh single is actually titled "Guárdame un secreto" ("Keep a secret for me"). We can find some on this new EP that adds up to COOPER’s already brilliant list of small format records. Four songs that follow up from the previous one from the very cover, with Catherine Deneuve starring again, and introducing the band’s new drummer, Nacho García (WINNERYS).

"Canción de viernes" opens the EP with the classic COOPER sound, self-referencing their own repertoire as in songs like "Vértigo" or "Nudo en la garganta" (in fact the repetition of words from these songs is absolutely conscious). "Diario" is about emotional instability -a secret to keep, hidden from the rest-, in a power pop style. "Steph" is a precious song, poetic and very moving, with a different sound to the band’s previous efforts: as if SHAZAM would play a BEATLES song with Evan Dando. If anything. The last song (the last onecategoría), "Flea market", is a comeback to Alex‘s anglophile roots, a danceable instrumental number lead by Carlo Coupé‘s marvelous organ. With this guest musician COOPER travel to pl [ Read more ]

Almost one year ago we already told you about CAMERA OBSCURA’s successful entry in one of the most famous web communities in the world. On their six first months on Myspace, the band’s page received more than 75.000 visits and more than 300.000 listens of their songs. One year later, the numbers have sky-rocketed and reflect the unstoppable way up the band’s experimenting in these last few months: when we write this note, there’s more than 315.000 visits and, notice this, more than a Million listens! In fact, way over one hundred thousand more than a million.

Now that’s what we call popularity, of the kind only a chosen few can achieve. Only bands like CAMERA OBSCURA can.

The music by CAMERA OBSCURA is perfect to go with images reflecting sensibility, elegance, simplicity. The proof lies in how many times their music has been synchronized on movies and TV series, some of them as popular as The Gilmore Girls or Grey’s Anatomy. The world of publicity has also noticed this characteristic in the music of Tracyanne Campbell’s band: from the last month of April, the song "Country mile" (taken from the band’s successful third album, "Let’s get out of this country") has been used as the soundtrack to an exclusive clothing ad from British chain Tesco. The ad, a minute long, is shown on TV and cinema, internet and the chain’s outlets. Click here! [ Read more ]
