TRACKLIST: 01 Lo Que Te Falta  02 Imposible

This is a song written by Ana Fernández-Villaverde that burns in the voice of Soleá Morente. It is a video directed by Paco León and that includes the presence of Pilar Albarracín and the gymnast and acrobat Laura Díaz. It is quite a landmark, and we need to break it down bit by bit, for the release of the last Digital Single from the album that this song is the title track of.

“Lo Que Te Falta” was the first album Soleá Morente released with Elefant Records, and it could not have had a better response from the press and public. The album was supported by and involved the majority of the top brass of the indie scene, like J (LOS PLANETAS), David Rodríguez (LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID) and Ana Fernández-Villaverde (LA BIEN QUERIDA), who all write and play with some of Soleá’s regular collaborators. Specifically, Ana wrote the title track for the album, the star of this single, and probably one of the songs that has made the biggest impact we have heard in a really long time (we would have to go back to some of her father’s more vanguard and noise-styled music). Capable of uniting the flamenco quejío (a way of singing pain) in all its intensity, with the noise of indie-noise, making way for a highly charged, emotional cocktail that is tough to beat.

TRACKLIST: 01 La Casa De Tus Sueños

TRONCO is not your regular music group. Their personality is so natural and direct that it is completely unique and overwhelming. It is one of those things that makes life seem easy, beautiful, and fun. Like a game. Listening to them and enjoying their music is nothing less than a privilege, as we saw with “Tralará” and “Abducida Por Formar Una Pareja”. But their new album, which will be released in 2021, is a qualitative leap, and at the same time more of the same. We can detect the same sensations, but there is more maturity as well: in the lyrics, where Conxita was especially inspired; in the production, where Eloy Bernal’s work (NELEONARD, DIE KATAPULT) has been key in giving TRONCO’s sound the diversity and richness they needed.

So, to whet your appetites, we are bringing you one of the new songs that will be on “Nainonai”, that upcoming new release from this very special duo. And curiously, “La Casa De Tus Sueños” is a song that was already prepared for the live show from the “Tralará” era. TRACKLIST: 01 Hacer El Amor

There are some unions that are just stellar (play on words intended). You can imagine how incredibly excited we are that David Rodríguez and Maria Rodés have decided to do a project together, and that this project is going to be put out on our label. MARIA RODÉS Y LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID is their own special twist on pop, full of personality, excitement, identity and imagination. And we can expect nothing less, coming from two of the most important musicians on the independent scene in this country. Let’s take a quick look at what they’ve done:

Maria Rodés began her musical trajectory with the folk project ONIRIC, to soon after begin a solo career, with great albums like “Una Forma De Hablar” (BCore, 2010) and “Sueño Triangular” (BCore, 2012). In 2014, this active artist released “Maria Canta Copla” (Chesapik), a selection of Spanish folk songs presented in a unique and personal way. This work won over the prestigious singer and composer David Byrne, who signed her up to play the well-known Meltdown Festival in London. She has worked with Ramón Rodríguez (THE NEW RAEMON), Nacho Vegas and Raül Fernández (REFREE). TRACKLIST: 01 Tardes De Sol  02 Esto No Es Serie

We still feel like time has been standing still since discovering the first eponymous Mini-LP by FRED FREDBURGUER. And “Tardes De Sol” is going to be the last Digital Single taken from that release. It is a luminous song (the intention is clear with the title), probably the song with the purest pop spirit on the release: clear and universal. Throw in a handful of pretty chords, a precious melody, charming lyrics, a few choruses, and those guitars that we like so much. We don’t need anything more. Or anything less. In the video that accompanies the release, directed by Daniel Cuenca, we can see our protagonists enjoying an afternoon in the park, among picnics, bicycles, and music instruments. And to soften that “see you soon”, there is a previously unreleased track. Specifically, it is the theme song for the podcast “Esto No Es Serie”, dedicated to television series, which Alba, the singer of our beloved FRED FREDBURGUER, (along with her podcast mates Andy and Leti), participates in. Every new song from rebe is a shock. We are not surprised that, beat by beat, she is turning into one of the most important names on the new national pop scene. And here you have more proof. “jamon” maintains all that irreverence and that iconoclastic spirit. It has one of her most incredible melodies so far, and has especially precious production work. It is delicate, fragile, seductive, even turbulent at times. And with a surprise musical twist halfway through. rebe is pure fantasy and dreaminess. We have no doubt that when her new full-length gets here, it is going to be miraculous.

Once again, she gets a little help from Victoria Martín, and her sister Virginia, to make it clear again in the corresponding video how extremely careful she is with the esthetic, how important it is for her, that decadent, decaying nineteenth century elegance that she knows so well how to transgress. It is incredible to see this kind of thing in the XXI century. But it is even more incredible to realize that this is only just getting started.

“Tu Foto En El Techo” has been one of the greatest discoveries in recent months. The thing is, CHAVALES use a clearly eighties-styled techno-pop, with fresh lyrics, solid choruses, and tremendously catchy songs. And as proof, we have this latest Digital Single that is taken from that limited edition 10” Mini-LP. “Dame Veneno” is a new cause for celebration for fans of THE HUMAN LEAGUE, Bobby Orlando, WAQ and UN PINGÜINO EN MI ASCENSOR. Syncopated sequencers and synthesizers under a melody that immediately begins to sound familiar. Total intimacy. And to top the edition off, there is a video directed by Silvia Coca, where Super 8 textures are used, along with neon ambiances, while our protagonists run around the big city. And we are loving it, having fun and dancing along. We hope their effervescent attitude continues, and that we have more news soon of the duo consisting of Daniel Rodríguez and Javier Paredes.

There are multifaceted artists, with many different sides, capable of inhabiting different musical styles with astonishing ease. You all already know the freshness and punk-pop spirit of LISASINSON, but you don’t know Míriam’s other project, that goes by the name LABORDE, where she is one of the members. It is a personal initiative, melancholier and with roots in more contemporary sounds like reggaeton, trap and hyperpop, which she develops with personality, sensitivity and a high dose of inspiration. And we have the first proof of that sound here.

“Llámame” is a song that we could tie to SIA or REBE at the same time. It has magnificent production work by TURIAN BOY (the alias of Alejandro Vidal), full of hidden corners, twists and sounds, that perfectly accompany the innocent sensitivity (but at the same time not any less nasty because of this, clearly) of Míriam’s voice. Sophistication and intimacy. A song full of sounds close to CHARLI XCX, Dorian Electra and producers like Sophie and Dylan Brady, filtered through a candy machine and integrated into very intimate and soft pop songs. TRACKLIST: 01 La Chica Vampira 2K20 (Feat. Maria Daniela Y Su Sonido Lasser)

PAPA TOPO has always had a weakness for horror, bloody, and science fiction themed songs, so Day of the Dead (or Halloween) has always been a very appropriate moment to listen to their songs. That is why we have chosen this specific date to commemorate the tenth anniversary of “La Chica Vampira”, one of the group’s most memorable hits.

Ever since PAPA TOPO went on tour in Mexico, Adrià has been completely in love with the country, and has been spending some time there lately. On one of his trips, a fan that knew how much liked MARIA DANIELA Y SU SONIDO LASSER’s music, gave him her entire discography, signed, and put them in touch. A year ago, Adrià was in Mexico City the weeks leading up to Day of the Dead, and he was fascinated with the festive and also gloomy ambiance that filled the city: the street alters for Santa Muerte, the markets crowded with people buying candy skulls and mortuary-themed knick-knacks, the bakeries full of Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead)… It was a totally Papa Topo-style scene and it was clear that Adrià had to take advantage of the moment and make a video there. TRACKLIST: 01 Cara De Idiota

A few weeks ago, we received “Uwu”, the first advance from the new AXOLOTES MEXICANOS album, which will arrive next year, after the band members have spent some time developing successful paths with their other projects (CAROLINA DURANTE, CONFETI DE ODIO, TEMERARIO MARIO, Stephen Please, NO FUCKS etc). And now we have this second advance from that highly anticipated new album that will be called “:3”, an appetizer that just makes us, if possible, even more excited and anxious about a release that promises to be one of the most important releases of 2021. “Cara De Idiota” is an exercise in pop with acoustic guitars and a clearer, more pristine focus, but with those distorted guitars doing their thing in the background. At Elefant Records, we have always had a weakness for Asian pop groups. And we have taken in groups from Japan, China, Korea, the Philippines… METRO, THE PANCAKES, MY LITTLE AIRPORT, MARINE LIFE, VENUS PETER, MAYLOVE, PHOTO JENNY, Edine, COLOR FILTER and THE PENELOPES are just a few of the names that comprise an indelible part of our catalogue.

That is why we are so proud of being able to add STILL DREAMS, a Japanese duo made up of the couple Maaya and Ryuta, with widespread tendencies toward indie-pop, synth-pop, and shoegazing. Their introduction on our label is this advance Digital Single for their upcoming Mini-LP for our collection “New Adventures In Pop”. The star of this single is “Ultra Doomed”, an exercise in synth-pop, evocative, with great melodies, and which could fit somewhere between SAINT ETIENNE, NEW ORDER and THE HUMAN LEAGUE. What’s more, we have “Envy” as the exclusive song of this single, with its clear echoes of THE CURE’s “Just Like Heaven”. It lays its indie-pop spirit with remnants of melancholy out for us, which STILL DREAMS makes shine.

Joe Moore is like Elefant’s Brill Building. But the whole building in just one person. We have seen him move through chamber pop, sixties pop, techno-pop, French pop, lounge… So, we gave him a few albums by ELLI ET JACNO, LIO, MIKADO, MATHÉMATIQUES MODERNES, BRAQUE and above all, Jacno’s first album(who this album is dedicated to), and now here we are with a 10” in our hands. Eight songs stupendously sung by Julie Big (who was the voice of LE SUPERHOMARD on the album “Meadow Lane Park” and the other singles released by Elefant) that are a paragon of fun, fantasy, freshness and an authentic invitation to never leave the dance floor. This project came about unexpectedly, and has given us a handful of catchy, exciting songs, using codes that, unfortunately, are not often seen in music these days.

Ultra-danceable techno-pop super hits, full of playful, dance-y synthesizers, like “Marelle” itself or like that “Single (Game Over)” that takes us back to a naïve NEW ORDER or the DEPECHE MODE of “Dreaming Of Me”, but with those totally bubblegum spirit choruses. We are still pulling out the gems that have made “Been Around” one of the albums of the year. “Finest Actor” is one of those exercises in which Erin Moran proves herself to be a master at managing melancholy and sadness, with elegance and strength, conjuring a combination of absolutely exquisite details (that guitar with tremolo, that clavichord, the piano), making her a unique figure in the current music scene. To go with the release of this Digital Single, we have a new video, in which a woman in the autumn of her life goes to the movies to submerge herself in memories of the great Hollywood classics: Gary Cooper, James Dean… There is only one other person in the audience in the whole theater. And at the exit… That thing that happens in life in the big city happens. For the second time on this album, Tom Gagnaire directs the video, once again using the effect of cameras like the PANASONIC NV-M5EP, distorting colors and creating special textures, and even more so considering the cinematic tribute of this audiovisual work. The trio from Madrid continue to shape and define their unique sound somewhere between trap, post punk and shoegaze in their newest Digital Single. “Nada Me Importa” is an important leap toward pop melodies for NEVVER, bringing them significantly closer to groups like NEW ORDER and THE CURE, but with the poetic incentive of their wrong-side-of-the-track lyrics, that at the same have a certain dream-like feel. This combination of qualities is visible in the video directed by David Vega, who was recently responsible for the audiovisuals for “Un Gatito” from LA BIEN QUERIDA.
