Joe Moore continues showing off his unprecedented creative activity. The amount and diversity of the albums he has released and produced for Elefant Records since 2011 is unparalleled. Everything started with THE YEARNING’s “Jukebox Romance” (2012), full of delicacy and painstaking artwork in marvelous chamber pop, reminiscent of those girl groups from the 50s. Since then, he has made music with Lia Pamina; he has produced R’n’B and electronic pop for Maddie Mae; and he has written eighties-style Italo Disco and europop with Cristina Quesada. He has also collaborated with Julie Big (ex-singer from LE SUPERHOMARD) on the Julie Et Joe project, with which he paid a well-deserved tribute to 80s French pop (ELLI ET JACNO, LIO, MIKADO…). He explored electronic pop with Holly Vanags under the name THE PERFECT KISS, and, together with Luci Ashbourne, paid tribute to ABBA, to disco music, and 70s pop in general on his last album with THE YEARNING. And after having visited all these different territories, he’s back with a dream-pop, shoegazing, folk-pop album with certain crooner touches, where melodic elegance, the most profound relaxation, and romanticism are all back in full force. This new delicacy, a heartbreaking gem that will fill you with joy, is being released under the name SUNLIT, and it is new proof that there is no musical ground that Joe Moore can’t inhabit, with marvelous creativity and tremendous resul [ Read more ]

The time is getting nearer, after that 10” vinyl called “No Me Miréis”, for the first full length from MARINITA PRECARIA. We have already advanced “Final Explicado” and “El Mundo No Es Para Tanto”, and now it’s time for “Momento Decisivo”, where she once again gives us a marvelous exercise in vital costumbrism to express that moment of longing, the expectations, the yearning. The ease with which Marina Gómez paints these stories comes from an identity based on a way of seeing the world that is full of love and sensitivity. We can also appreciate Sergio Pérez’s production work in the music, who has worked with LA BIEN QUERIDA, Joe Crepúsculo, LOS PUNSETES, Soleá Morente, MUJERES, CABIRIA and so many more), which gives MARINITA PRECARIA’s music a special strength, elevating the emotional intensity of something that is already created to make you shudder with excitement. It’s everything a “Momento Decisivo” needs. And that moment is about to arrive.

There are songs that were written to be listened to with a broken heart. The daring. Only in that moment when you feel like you’re moving through muddy water, that song is waiting to receive you and keep you afloat. Only the chosen ones, those that were created in similar circumstances (like this italo-disco classic from SAVAGE) can pull it off. Joe Moore gives us this gift of a fourth single, and the last advance from his project SUNLIT’s debut album, which is a revision somewhere between the luminosity of the COCTEAU TWINS from “Heaven Or Las Vegas” and the darkness of THE CURE from “Disintegration”. It takes us to the dark side of the heart. A side we spend a lot of time in, in our lives, and where we need company. “Don’t Cry Tonight” is positioning itself as one of the best versions that you will be able to enjoy this 2024.

The third advance single from Joe Moore’s new project, and something tells us that SUNLIT might be the most special one yet. The sincerity in the lyrics, the close, melancholic emotions in the songs running high, full of tenderness, all lead us to believe this. “Someone So Beautiful” is here as proof. This song is a caress in and of itself, swaying with those reverbs that make us feel like we are in a dream, that evokes some of those incomparable gems that have accompanied us in our most solitary moments: THE FIELD MICE, RED HOUSE PAINTERS, ANOTHER SUNNY DAY, BRIAN and GALAXIE 500. This is a special, unique, inimitable sound, that the British composer transports us to, showing us once again his love of music, his infinite inspiration and his talent with production work. Enjoy.

AMOR BUTANO continues with their non-stop digital news. We are so close to the imminent arrival of the 4-song EP, “Te Noto Cambiada”, from which we are bringing you the advance single “Mágica”. The song once again makes it evident how great the production work of Diego Ferrando (production and keyboards), Raquel Goterris (keyboards and vocals) and Sara Alegre (keyboards and vocals) is for building disco hits with a nihilist spirit and fascinating lyrics. A powerful base, synthesizers that are just in love with the eighties, and a totally delicious, catchy chorus. It takes you straight to the dance floor to feel it to the fullest. To go along with the advance, the single comes with a video directed by Javier Artigas and Óscar Javier. Óscar also appears in this visual document where dance is the clear star, hedonism is the inspirational muse, and Cachofurro’ special appearance brings a perverse sense of humor to the final result, with Valencia in the center as the main stage. Our queens of the dance floor are back!

Every time we come back to this album it brings tears to our eyes. Of course, because each advance single from Joe Moore’s new alter ego makes our heart swell, but also because we are amazed to see how the British composer handles each musical territory he touches so exceptionally. “Back”, the second single from the new project, is a radical example. We know that there will be no more songs from MAZZY STAR, or Julee Cruise, or OPAL. But then we hear “Back”, and it comforts us. It reminds us that music, as much as there are voices and media that try to kill and resuscitate musical labels, never disappears. When the music speaks the truth, it becomes eternal. When it whispers, caresses. When it makes us feel like we’re not alone. Joe Moore is an artist who is a master of all timbers; he pulls all the strings with unusual magic. Take a deep breath. Listen.

They don’t accept definitions or labels. They play at misleading so well that we all know they aren’t interested in that. They are real. Authentic. They are radically different than any other group you know. That’s why their new single is going to blow you away (again). It is a cover of AMARAL’s “Sin ti no soy nada” taken to the range of audio experimentation, where frequencies twist together and the rhythm creates a sonic trance somewhere between industrial music and Ibiza nights. As if Björk decided to remake Chrissie Hynde songs. That’s where the musical extasy lies, the catharsis, the freedom and the love. And no, this isn’t about deconstructing or about posturing. Javier and Carlos went into this cover with this position: “Covering “Sin ti no soy nada” is an exercise in nostalgia and adaptation of one of our earliest references, revisiting a classic that is emotional, fragile and powerful through the way it experiments with sound”. This song was played a major role in their concerts in 2022, and which ultimately, after the response it received, has turned into this new single. We will never get tired of saying it: INTERROGACIÓN AMOR is a rara avis, an exception, an infinite quantic accident on the music scene. We need them. And the best part is that we don’t even know how much yet.

It was one of the most-requested songs. “Mira Chico” is definitely one of the great songs from “Un Año De Cambios”. The album definitively catapulted Míriam and Paula: the release in Japan of a gorgeous edition, selected as an Amazon Music ROMPE group, absolutely sold-out release parties, interviews, and national and international coverage… And now this is finally here. The new single from LISASINSON, the last one taken from their album “Un Año De Cambios”, and with a music video by Polígono that’s as good as the song. Those nineties guitars playing and then it explodes, the brazenness, the punk, the riot spirit. The beginning of the video throws you off; it’s a kind of pseudo-documentary where our protagonists talk about what’s behind LISASINSON, and suddenly it shifts toward a story about two girls who race through a desert in their car, in search of the treasure of their lives. And the treasure is ours, because we have a whole year of concerts, hits, amazing songs, and so many new things ahead of us. A year that will change things, but in which we will be with LISASINSON, more than ever.

This beautiful story begins on November 19, 2022. In the bullring arena in Murcia. PIPIOLAS and Rigoberta Bandini share a stage. They are nervous. They admire the author of “Ay Mamá”, “Canciones de Amor a Ti” and so many others. It is a magical night. They meet, they become mutual fans. An online friendship begins.

Fast forward to today. This friendship grows, feeds on itself, and finally, gives musical fruit. “La Niña Bonita” is a collaboration, a space of perfect juxtaposition between two artistic universes that understand each other perfectly. The story of a girl who feels sad and undeserving of love. A tour de force to the beat of electronic pop with lines that will definitely be screamed endlessly at concerts: “Dice que tiene pena / Que no vale la pena / Que ya no es quien era / Y yo no quiero esta suerte de mierda” (She says she’s sad / That it’s not worth it / That she isn’t who she used to be / And I don’t want that shitty luck). Because “La Niña Bonita” brings together with incredible skill the delicacy and heartbreaking spirit of a woman whose dreams are broken and who has the strength of those who wanted to teach her that love should never hurt.

An event like this needs a music video worthy of its stature. Raquel Calvo makes it clear once again that her exercises in animation are absolutely marvelous, and she takes children [ Read more ]

REISSUES 2023 IN VINYL

“La Revolución Sexual” LP [Clear Blue Colour Vinyl – Limited Edition – Updated Cover]

“La Polinesia Meridional” DOUBLE-LP [Gatefold Sleeve – Orange Colour Vinyl – Limited Edition] /

For Elefant, talking about LA CASA AZUL is like talking about a dream that came true right before our very eyes. We have always been right alongside Guille Milkyway, arm in arm, enjoying the trajectory of a musical genius that has broken barriers with that personal, unique way of seeing music, turning it into a mass phenomenon, an incredible group, an unforgettable project within the pop panorama. That’s why we like to look back every so often and bring back one of their grand moments. Like this new reissue of “La Revolución Sexual”, on a gorgeous clear blue vinyl. We’re also re-releasing its immediate successor, “La Polinesia Meridional”, this time on an orange-colored double vinyl with a gatefold sleeve. Because “La Revolución Sexual” is an anthem that belongs, in its own right, to the collective consciousness and the history of pop music in this country. It is one of those works of art that transcends time and has been out of print on vinyl for ages. We know that many fans have been anxiously awaiting the chance to have these vinyls in their collection, and that’s why we have put so much care into every detail of these releases for yo [ Read more ]

Christmas singles are a tradition that has grown over many decades, when artists make the most of the special conditions of these important dates. But there is no question that nothing compares to the Christmas singles released in the sixties and seventies. And within that category, the album produced by Phil Spector called “A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector” is clearly a magnum opus. This single that Lia Pamina and Dario Persi have just composed for the Christmas season would deserve to be included on that magnificent collection. It’s just incredible. The bells, the harmonies, that change in key, the jangle guitar, the kettle drum, that percussion that sounds like pure Motown, pure wall of sound. The magic between Dario and Lia’s voices makes us feel all of the warmth of the Christmas spirit that THE RONETTES, THE CRYSTALS and Darlene Love sang for us back then. The incredible sound work on this track by Marco Alberto Matti of Casemate Studio (Italy) is absolutely remarkable, with the most meticulous recording, mixing and mastering. Dario Persi handles percussion, plays the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar, and the 12-string guitar; Alberto Matti adds more percussion; Paco Orsi plays the drums; Carlo Matti is on the keyboards and xylophone; and the incredible production work is by Dario and Marco. The finishing touch is that Christmas cover, that house sheltered from la [ Read more ]

There are circumstances in life that are curiously random, magical, and sadly inexplicable. Like the new we bring you today. We are releasing a single from CHAVALES, of a song that was the first one they released, as part of the Jeanne d’Arc Christmas compilation “Villancicos, Vol. 2” in 2019. And it will also be the group’s last, since we are taking advantage of their upcoming appearance on the movie soundtrack and the Christmas season to close this stage. “Ya Na Va Se Como Ante” is the beginning and the end of Daniel and Javier’s project. With cover art, of course, by Neelam Khan Vela. This song shows their solid work with the synthesizers and surprises with the vocal quality, some trap arrangements and autotune. Although nothing will ever be the same again, we still have their songs, their concerts, and so many good memories. Merry Christmas!

TRACKLIST: 01 De la Navidad al Neoliberalismo

With Christmas coming up and the appearance of this song on the soundtrack of an upcoming film on Netflix, we are recovering this AMOR BUTANO’ song that was originally released on the 2021 Jeanne d’Arc Christmas carol compilation “Villancicos Vol. IV”. This time, the trio from Valencia make a critique of the consumerist spirit of these dates, with juicy production work full of the usual, aligning themselves sound-wise with the typical classics of the Christmas season. The contrast between the sweetness of the arrangements and the sharpness of the lyrics is incredible. This is how DiegoRaquel and Sara wish us a Merry Christmas from Benimaclet. And the cover as a postcard is a work of Raquel Calvo.
