You just can’t explain the phenomenon of AIKO EL GRUPO. They are an incomparable group. Their sense of humor, their irreverent and totally unbiased attitude, their ever-greater taste in melodies and arrangements, and their infinite energy are all ingredients in a recipe that results in something unique and inimitable. And their new album confirms all of this. “Me están apuntando con un arma” includes eleven songs that are over in the blink of an eye, and which make us dance wildly, get angry, laugh and feel excited like teenagers.

And this was all just reaffirmation, because we had already heard that impossibly amazing “Niños furbito y niñas lo que sea”, that pouring out of bile that is “k pesao”, “Sexo Fender (Cenicero)”, the song that gives us the line “Me huele el pelo a cenicero” (My hair smells like an ashtray) to the beat of pounding guitars, or that strange love story (or not) that is “Romantinski”. Their ability to create XXI century anthems confirms hits like “GTA” (or the epic, accord [ Read more ]

There’s no time for rest. Not a second to breathe. We just barely finished listening to “Afong (Mordió La Mano Del Amo)”, the first album from the project “SMHD (Arte Contenido)” (acronym for Seconds Minutes Hours Days) that Chenta put together, and we’re already bringing you an advance single from the second part, “pasadas de moda” (an imaginary album from the artist dadá, child of nepotism, who longs for viral fame and recognition). And the pen is still a sharp sword. “soy un idiota” is a confession, a kind of self-harm that works as a rebound effect from society’s aggressiveness. Based, sound-wise, on blog house, with echoes of DIPLO, CUT COPY and JUSTICE, PUTOCHINOMARICÓN continues to grow their role as an artist, defying stylistic limits, yes, but also defying the listener, pushing them out of their comfort zone, reflecting on all the things that define our lives these days.

In this case, it is fear of being alone, fear of frustration, fear of not getting what you want. In a world of success, of ultra-filtered Instagrams, all the fears that create an existential vacuum disappear and everything is based on image and on pleasures that fill the empty spaces. And that’s when Chenta lets out: “Me alejo de sueños y alejo a quien quiero / Y por miedo a perderlos no quiero tenerlos” (I push away my dreams and I push away whomever I want / My fear of losing them [ Read more ]

CARABALLO’s debut album is a personal album, something from a musician who has already shown us what it is to work together with his group COLECTIVO DA SILVA, but who also embraces a solo project with his own name as an exercise in exploration – both personally and in terms of sound. And Carlos CARABALLO shows us this on “Ratatouille”, the latest single taken from his debut album. An exercise in elegant electronic pop that is extroverted, unbiased, colorful, and also includes the collaboration of rata.deinternet, with a catchy chorus and a pure, pristine melody that goes straight to the heart. This is reflected in the music video (directed by the producer GRAPA), where we can see our stars dancing in the middle of the forest, while two cannons nervously approach them. The resultí You’ll see it soon on your screens. And the delicious cover is designed once again by rata.deinternet.

After a period of change, Carlos and Javier made up for lost time with that powerful and brutally honest album, “cómo un ángel podría romper mi corazón” (2022). They’re back now with a new Digital Single, “Fortuna”, which the band themself produced this time, and with mixing by Pablo Cuerno – DJ HATER (a Los Invernaderos resident), who had already collaborated with them on their previous album. And they take it a bit more to the extreme this time. It has an industrial sound, almost digi-core, desperate lyrics, from a person who is out of luck and addicted to his own misfortune. INTERROGACIÓN AMOR’s music continues to get more radical, and, above all, if we look back, it continues to stand out as a rara avis on the international scene. For of its musical and lyrical language, sure, but also for its inspiration and immeasurable brilliance when it comes to getting down to it.

Sergio Rodríguez and Marta Quintana have made something special with NOS MIRAN. Their music is direct: solid, powerful techno-pop, accompanied by profound lyrics with a philosophical origen, playing at a very specific existential dreaminess. And that contrast works with thousands of different nuances. “No Quiero El Control”, the second advance single from their new album, is radical in this aspect. It is probably one of their more solid songs, a definite and radical hit for the dance floor, catchy and easy to dance to, accompanied by evasive, slippery lyrics, that even have a certain occasional touch of anguish. Further proof of their unique, personal, unpredictable work that eludes all stereotypes. That’s how NOS MIRAN are.

We want you to know that the release date for the highly anticipated debut album from PIPIOLAS is getting close. Those of you who have seen them this summer of the festival scene already know that it’s going to be huge. And in case you didn’t already know, we have a new advance single that will be included on the album. “No Soy Un XoXo”. A punk anthem which, just like “Baby,” (in different musical parameters; it’s amazing how good they are at style-hopping) begs for you to dance until you collapse from exhaustion. A feminist anthem against objectification that is full of glorious lines that will we use on thousands of t-shirts, confessions that need to be shouted out, in the best riot grrrl spirit. Have you ever heard a chorus before that said “Tengo la regla” (I’ve got my period)categoría Well get ready: “Tengo la regla / No estoy en guerra / No todo es por ti, soy una buena cerda” (I’ve got my period / I’m not at war / Everything’s not about you, I’m a good little pig). And get dancing. And then proclaim: “Si a ti tu padre no te quiere / Lo siento mucho, eso duele / Pero no tengo la carrera / De puta enfermera” (If your dad doesn’t love you / I’m sorry, that hurts / But I am not certified / To be a fucking nurse). Because they know what they want. Relax. Release. Feel. Not everyone is going to help you. But don’t worry. PIPIOLAS will write music. And [ Read more ]

“Un Año De Cambios” is already out. It’s LISASINSON’s moment right now. It’s the moment for the best of lists, for world-renowned stages, for recognition on a national and international level, for a fired-up crowd. And to celebrate, we’re releasing a Digital Single with one of the many hits that fill that marvelous debut album, which shows off their energy, their strength, their melodic potential, and also their maturity and evocativeness. “Se Me Ha Muerto Una Flor” is a chorus begging you to singing along, an infinite mosh pit, excitement and poetry, and it is a broken heart just when you get to the end of the song: “Tenías razón, no supe cuidar de ti / Tenías razón, tenía que aprender a cuidar de mí” (You were right, I didn’t know how to take care of you / You were right, I had to learn how to take care of me). And to go along with it, we have a marvelous music video directed by Polígono (the producer who gave us NENAS’ music videos). In the video, we see Míriam and Paula setting up a camping trip in the living room of their house, and once they eat the petals of a flower, they go into a lysergic dream world. Long live LISASINSON.

As proof that 2023 is their year, we want to let you know that “Un Año De Cambios” was released in Japan at the end of August as a special edition that includes two extra tracks [ Read more ]

Three years ago, we got our hands on the first solo songs from Maddie Mae (one of the singers from THE YEARNING, the main project from Joe Moore, who has also been responsible for producing and writing for Lia Pamina, THE PERFECT KISS, JULIE ET JOE, Cristina Quesada and Maddie Mae herself). “Baby, You’re An Angel” and “Stay The Same” brought us something passionate, full of that electronic tension in something close to downtempo that makes Maddie’s exquisite voice shine, in the style of artists like Lana Del Rey, SZA, Billie EilishSuki Waterhouse, Lorde and Arlo Parks. And in the meantime, over a low flame, our two stars have continued to cook up a majestic album, on which Maddie has delved into the feelings and ideas that she wanted to get onto her debut album. A few days ago, we got a taste with “Polaroid Love”, which confirmed that is going to be something huge. And the result is “Wildflower”, an album that is full of elegance, glamour, delicacy and exoticism, thanks to the versatility with which Joe Moore builds the soundscapes that Maddie’s voice fills with thousands of feelings, nuances, and emotions.

Our star has taken inspiration from all forms of art, from poetry to dance, including music, books, and movies that she has discovered over these past three years. And the palette of styles is so wide it moves between the Amy Winehouse-style sou [ Read more ]

It has been a while since we heard from AXOLOTES MEXICANOS (although all the members of the band remain highly active, artistically). But we can finally bring you the advance of what will be their next album. Check out this smash hit from Olaya and her crew. “Amarre” is pure, hyper-melodic punk and it sounds incredible. The sparkling production work from Juan Pedrayes together with the mixing and mastering by Daniel Alcover (LA LA LOVE YOU, DOVER, SEX MUSEUM…) multiplies the group’s already powerful catchiness, adding definition and energy without losing a drop of rage or nuance. The result is glorious, evoking classics of the genre like NOFX and BLINK 182, while at the same time keeping that more current sound that sometimes ties into the Japanese sound, the more punk, fun part of 100 GECS, the ever-present KERO KERO BONITO and even that vocal styling in the choruses like LA CASA AZUL. And Stephen and Olaya with their lyrics, so them, so unique, and this time, with exercises in witchcraft to conquer the object of affection that winds up revealing this, no more no less: “Te quedan sólo dos meses de vida / Ya es muy tarde, esto no tiene salida / Cuando estés bajo tierra enterrado / Yo estaré ahí a tu lado” (You have two months left to live / It’s too late, there’s no escape / When you’re buried underground / I will be at your side). Intense moshing guaranteed.

After “Baby, You’re An Angel” and “Stay The Same” we hadn’t had any more news about the solo album that Maddie Mae, after her journey with THE YEARNING, had started working on with, of course, her inseparable Joe Moore. And today we bring you two big pieces of great news: the album, “Wildflower”, will be here imminently, and as an advance, we are bringing you the third single, “Polaroid Love”. On this song, we can see the influence of Lana Del Rey and her melancholic landscapes where she talks about that love that slowly takes shape, that is cooked over a low flame, the same way colors start to come in on a Polaroid. She explains it perfectly herself: “I always take photos using my Polaroid camera, and when the picture comes out blank at first, nobody knows how it will turn out; you have to be patient enough to wait. Seeing that Polaroid develop from almost nothing, just ink under the film, echoed how I was feeling at the time with this new romance forming right under my skin. When I finally sat down to write, it was so clear that the lyrics came to me in just fifteen minutes. I recorded the first draft and sent it over to Joe to ask him to produce some music to go with it and, as he always does, he understood the essence the song should capture perfectly”. Exciting and heartbreaking, this is a song that, together with its two predecessors, makes us foresee that “Wildflower” is going to be hug [ Read more ]

REISSUE 2023 IN CLEAR VINYL

There are groups who grew up with Elefant Records, who were a turning point for the label and its development, and who fill us with pride when we look back and see their discography and the milestones they have reached. All of this is coming up because of CAMERA OBSCURA, that group that Stuart Murdoch (BELLE & SEBASTIAN) discovered and which he became obsessed with, to the point of producing their third single (“Eighties Fan”), directing the corresponding music video, doing the arrangements on their first album, and so many more things. We fell in love with that song and it made us license their first album, “Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi” for the whole world, and then sign them with Elefant Records and release their following two albums on our label for the entire planet, until they wound up signing with 4AD, the label that groups like COCTEAU TWINS, STEREOLAB, THE NATIONAL, GRIMES and the PIXIES spent time with.

The time has come to re-release those two sought after albums that have been out of print for so long on vinyl, “Underachievers Please Try Harder” (2003) and “Let’s Get Out Of This Country” (2006). The latter was their definitive confirmation, the album that brought them to perform halfway around the world and made them known by a larger audience than the gem hunters who already loved them from their first album “Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi”. “Underachievers Pl [ Read more ]

As we continue to get advances from Soleá Morente’s upcoming album, the one she’s working on together with Guille Milkyway, our prolific artist is filling this empty space for us with a very special single. Two songs, two versions, two challenges and a gorgeous photo by Neelam Khan Vela.

The first song, “Sembré Una Esperanza”, is taken from “Sacromonte” (which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, in November 2022), one of Soleá’s favorite albums by her father, Enrique Morente. The Granada-born singer already includes this song in her live shows with power and energy, and here she gives us an exquisite elegance, with a magnificent instrumentation with Arabic echoes, and marvelous arrangements and an exotic tone – a mix of flamenco, rock, and Arabian sounds. It’s an amazing surprise, produced by Alonso Díaz of NAPOLEÓN SOLO, with whom she already worked in 2018 on her album “Ole Lorelei” – a very important album in the history of pop in our country, which boasts the excellent production work of Alonso and includes “Baila Conmigo”, one of her most famous songs.

The second song, “Se Acabó” is originally by María Jiménez. It is a version recorded for a documentary about the Sevilla-native singer, produced by LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID and Sergio Pérez, where she brings an agile and sparkly rumba t [ Read more ]

In honor of International LGBTQ+ Pride Day, AMOR BUTANO is releasing a very special single, a celebration worthy of its cause. “Planeta Venus” is a powerful lesbian anthem that radiates empowerment and hope, that uses music as a transformative tool. Through their message of acceptance and the reference to iconic figures like

Sonia y SelenaJaviera Mena or the deceased Sophie, the song creates an alternate reality for those who feel discriminated against. The song is an ode to diversity and a call for freedom from those who face discrimination because of their sexual orientation. And of course, to the beat of euro-disco, DiegoRaquel and Sara release a universal message to light up the dance floor.

The song lyrics are an emotional journey, telling the story of a person facing discrimination because of their sexuality. But, over the course of the song, we learn that this person finds comfort and strength in figures that invite them to live on a planet where they can be recognized as they are and feel free. With its overflowing energy and touching lyrics, this song becomes a beacon of hope for the LGBTQ+ community and a reminder of how important diversity and inclusion are in society. [ Read more ]

REISSUE 2023

Some albums are so important in the history of a record label that their identities become intertwined, and in the case of Elefant, we cannot forget about FAMILY’s debut album. Pop fans fell in love with the album from the very first minute, with its precious lyrics and touching melodies which have transcended eras and borne deep into the ears and minds of various generations, and which has become even more legendary as time has passed. This past April was the thirtieth anniversary of the recording of “Un Soplo En El Corazón”, and to celebrate this we are going to rerelease it on vinyl for all those fans who are still trying to get their hands on a copy. “Un Soplo En El Corazón” has continued to soften the hearts of many in recent years and has been used on the soundtracks of movies and TV shows like “Requirements To Be A Normal Person”, “Through My Window”, “Oreina”, “Los Pequeños Amores”, “Cuéntame” and “In Love All Over Again”.
