A few weeks ago, we told you about the release of LISASINSON’s “Un Año De Cambios” in Japan. And now PIPIOLA’s “No hay un Dios” has also received a call from the land of the rising sun. Hayabusa Landings Inc. will release Paula and Adriana’s debut album on CD, as a luxury Digisleeve, including a 20-page booklet. This booklet will include the lyrics in Spanish and Japanese, a text written specifically for the release by girlside, and photos. The CD includes two extra songs from their first single, that were not included on the vinyl edition of the album –  “Narciso” and “Club de los 27”. The best part is that for collectors and anyone who wants to have this album in CD format, we have brought over a few copies of this special release, which is already an object of desire among fans, collectors and followers of all Japanese things. They are already available in our online store, on our Bandcamp, and they will be in select record stores in Spain. There aren’t a lot of copies, so you’d better get moving. And keep enjoying the dazzling career of our PIPIOLAS, who are unstoppable.

“Dime Mentiras” is the new single from PAPA TOPO, which will be included on their upcoming album, “Tormenta De Verano”, to be released in 2024. This advance single is a song about loneliness in the modern world, and Adriàexplains the universe surrounding this song in his own words.

“In the context of a hyperconnected society, where there are more and more interpersonal relationships but these relationships are more and more superficial, love becomes a product to use and throw away. It seems like in this meat market, those who sell themselves better, who collect more lovers, have more value. In this rat race of meeting as many people as possible, I have often felt profoundly alone, surrounding myself with people with whom I have nothing in common, and for whom I have just been another notch on their list of ordinary loves.

The song expresses the boredom and sadness of feeling alone in a crowd and the need to escape, to lie to yourself, to fantasize about profound emotional connections. This is what capitalism drives us to – the obsession with accumulating lovers, like accumulating objects, like accumulating goods. And the music industry also puts a lot of pressure on numbers: caught up in an endless whirlwind of releasing singles and albums, music groups are constantly anxious to create viral publications that lead to millions of streams. Sometimes it seems more important to be in the spotlight than to reflect on what k [ Read more ]

TRACKLIST: 01 Boogie With Martin D. (Unreleased Track)  02 True Elegance  03 Thimble Theatre  04 Funeral Cowboy Tremolo

Let’s admit it – thirty years later, SPRING still can’t figure out why they sent their demo to two Spanish record labels, or how they knew the labels… But both answered affirmatively. They had to make a decision, and with the help of Ibon Errazkin they chose Elefant Records: Luis and Montse (and Talulah too). That was the beginning of six years of hard work, because the group was about to find themselves right at the center of a small cultural and independent revolution… There were trips back and forth between France and Spain, sleepless nights, so many kilometers, concerts with PULP, with SR. CHINARRO, with LE MANS, that first Benicàssim festival under the sunlight, songs recorded in London, Paris, San Sebastian, Madrid… There was laughter, tears, making plans for the future, breakdowns, reconciliations… And without them even really knowing it, just living every moment to its fullest, they were six years that these young kids would spend making memories to last a lifetime.

The adventure began not far from Paris’s famous Latin Quarter, known for the Nouvelle Vague films and May 68, the area of “La beauté est dans la rue” (the beauty is in the street). That’s where AlexJean-BaptisteDaniel ( [ Read more ]

It feels strange each time we announce a new project from Joe Moore – with his musical versatility and his prolific, tireless spirit, we feel like we might run out of adjectives to describe such marvelous songs in such diverse musical parameters. SUNLIT is a project dedicated to shoegazing and dream pop. “Break My Heart” is the first advance of what will be their first, eponymous album that we will present very soon. This song is a perfect introduction: ethereal guitars, the spirit of Bobby Wratten drifting through, crystalline melodies, high voltage melancholy, emotions right on the surface. For the occasion, Chris Croft (who has already made videos for THE SCHOOL, THE YEARNING, THE SILVER FACTORY, THE PRIMITIVES, BMX BANDITS, ATTIC LIGHTS, Nick Garrie, THE MAGIC THEATRE, Cristina Quesada) has directed a music video set between the sea and the sunset, an exercise in expressionism that aims to transmit feelings of sadness and pleasure, melancholy and beauty, just like Joe Moore’s new project. Wait until you hear the album. Get your hearts ready, because this is going to hit hard.

The amount and diversity of the albums he has released and produced for Elefant Records since 2011 is unparalleled. Everything started with THE YEARNING’s “Jukebox Romance” (2012), full of delicacy and painstaking artwork in marvelous chamber pop, reminiscent of those girl groups from the 50s. Since then, he has made music with Lia [ Read more ]

The previous singles have raised our expectations through the roof. Songs like “Romancero Propio”, “San Peter”, “Baby”, “No Soy Un XoXo” and “Pogo En Casa”, have given us an advance look at something great, crazy, unbiased, overflowing with attitude, with fantastic songs. And here it is, finally – “No hay un Dios”. With a gatefold cover and a yellow vinyl (did anyone else think “Wizard Of Oz” or “The Neverending Story”categoría The eighties, illustratedcategoría), designed, just like their previous singles, by Laurel Cala, and with the indispensable production work of Vau Boy. The new PIPIOLAS album makes it clear that what they are doing transcends the musical: coming from purely artistic studies and passions, their songs draw from multiple disciplines, with a special dramatic and esthetic richness, as well as emotional and spiritual. Don’t be fooled; this is also full of impertinence, partying, spite, rage, energy, joy and so much excitement. Because if there is no God, we have to have something to live for.

They work with eclecticism, the understanding that richness comes from diversity, that there are thousands of horizons to explore, and that we can find happiness in all of them. Because the punk hedonism of “Pogo En Casa” radically contrasts with the transcendental epicness of “Cuando Me Muera”. An ultrasensitive elegance resi [ Read more ]

There are just a few days left, we can almost count down the hours, until the anxiously-awaited full-length from PIPIOLAS is here. This album includes the heavily commented and played singles like “Baby”, “Romancero Propio”, “No Soy Un XoXo” and “Pogo En Casa”. But we couldn’t release the album without first showing you one of the most incredible songs on it, a collaboration with their friends GINEBRAS, who with their clean guitar strokes put “Todas Las Horas” in the Olympus of pop, dynamic and epic, full of rage and distortion.

To celebrate, and to prepare ourselves for “No hay un Dios”, this Digital Single comes with a music video where we can see the star of the video in the pool, letting time pass, making eye contact with a lifeguard who can’t seem to decide if she wants to talk to her or not. Our PIPIOLAS and the GINEBRAS watch this all take place while enjoying the best thing in the world – time with their friends. The music video is directed by Andrea Casaseca, who has received more than 50 awards and has been included in more than 300 selections in film festivals around the world, and who was candidate for a Goya in 2015 for the best short film for “Sinceridad”. She is without a doubt one of the most interesting and most promising storytellers in recent years.

Last year we got “Vamos A Olvidar”, the first single from the album that Soleá Morente is preparing with Guille Milkyway from LA CASA AZUL. Today we are bringing you the second advance single – “Gitana María” is once again a song that breaks all boundaries. The magic and infinite talent of Guille collides with the enormous personality and eternal seduction of Soleá in an exercise in breakstep, with touches of breakbeat and garage full of Gitano sounds, including a tribute to a really old song that the Gitanos of Sacramonte (neighbourhood in the city of Granada) used to sing way back when. It’s another leap of faith, an epic track in dance and emotion, a lysergic trip to the summer of love and nights that never end, a perfect mix of the solid power of Guille and the intense experimentation of Soleá. This new advance confirms that what’s coming in the new album from Soleá is going to be huge, varied and surprising. Once again, it is a departure from her previous work, confirming her chameleonic status as an artist with great curiosity, always in motion.

We’ve finally got it. “pasadas de moda” is the second album from the PUTOCHINOMARICÓN project called “Segundos Minutos Horas Días” – a project that questions the nature, esthetic and consumption of music in an era where everything is fleeting and consumed without reflection. It is a critique of current music consumption, which has moved toward ephemeral interaction on networks and away from genuinely enjoying physical format or streaming platforms. It is an imaginary album by the artist dadá, a product of nepotism, which serves as a vehicle to criticize the artist as a content creator, like a house pet that wants to please instead of challenge. At the same time, it’s an opportunity to review some of the musical movements from the beginning of the century, like blog house, indie sleaze and electroclash, although not as an exercise in nostalgia but instead as a way to update the sound, criticizing the elitism and exclusiveness. This provokes a surprising change in

Chenta’s sound, making it more accessible, pure, more spacious, and letting the album show off their more pop spirit, throwing names in the mix like LE TIGRE, TINGS TINGS, FISCHERSPOONER, MISS KITTIN’, TIGA and many more.

The same song the gives the album its name begins by making it clear that no prisoners will be taken here: “Juguete roto de mierda / De ti ya nadie se acuerda / Te leñaron las pesetas / ¿Ahora qu&eac [ Read more ]

While we’re still waiting for new music to come in from PAPA TOPO (thank the Lord, we won’t have to wait much longer), we are bringing you something very special from a parallel dystopian reality. In this reality, the extreme right won the recent general elections in Spain and PAPA TOPO were forced to abandon their queer leftist antics and turn into “LOS PAPA MOVILS”, a catholic pop band that sings about the lord’s miracles in religious macro-festivals. The song that PAPA TOPO’s döpplegangers have done is a version of “Sangre En Los Zapatos (Mi Amor)” made especially for the TV series directed by Los Javis “La Mesías”, in a religious tone. The result is so much fun and so incredible: it praises the mystic phenomenon of stigmata and all those saints that have seen their flesh opened with wounds on the cross. The lyrics take a radical turn, leaving the production work of Guille Milkyway (LA CASA AZUL) intact, like in the original. Lines like “La gente admira las llagas que el Señor me ha dado / Una indeleble señal de unión con el amado / Dios me ha marcado como a una oveja del rebaño / Soy viva imagen de Cristo Rey crucificado” (People admire the sores the Lord gave me / An indelible sign of union with the beloved / God has marked me like a sheep in the flock / I am the spitting image of Jesus on the cross) feed into the legend that Adrià Arbona’s ca [ Read more ]

PIPIOLAS don’t stop. We have their new album just about to come out of the oven. They have travelled across half Spain, hitting all the summer festivals, winning audiences and critics over with their live shows. And now we have a short film, “Crying Mañana”, that includes two songs from this debut album, and which serves as a soundtrack. Fifteen minutes that tell us the story of Paula and Adriana (did we mention that they’re the starscategoría), who work for Banda Aparte (a tribute to Godard), a large and prestigious record producer. They answer to Alfredo, whose mission in life is to maintain his company on the cutting edge, but by exploiting his employees. But not all the young people are willing to follow his orders.

And our PIPIOLAS use what they’re made of to do their things. This time we get two new songs, that give the short film the right mood and that make up this Digital Single. “Pogo En Casa” is a techno-pop hit full of unleashed eighties stylings, powerful and unrelenting. And we already told you about “No Soy Un XoXo”. And if it weren’t enough leaving us in awe with that chorus that howls “Tengo la regla” (I’ve got my period), now it’s in the short film.

“Crying Mañana” also includes performances by Luis HerasAbelo Valis and Nicole Wallace (AdrianaPIPIOLAS’ cast mate in the Amazon Prime movie “Culpa M&iacut [ Read more ]

After “soy un idiota” and “tu padre es un facha y tu madre una terf”, we bring you “arthoe”, the latest advance single from “pasadas de moda”, the second album from PUTOCHINOMARICÓN’s project, “Segundos Minutos Horas Días”. This song takes a deeper look at the idea of the artist as an object of consumption, and their commercialization in the XXI century. All of this is done with an electroclash rhythm, somewhere between LE TIGRE and FISCHERSPOONER, and with a clear tribute to CSS’ “Art Bitch”.

Chenta’s pen is once again a powerful weapon. “Porque querer es poder / Porque el poder es querer / Y con esfuerzo y tiempo, si yo he podido tú también” (Because love is power / Because power is love / And with time and effort, if I can do it so can you), which is a direct critique of the culture of effort and meritocracy. How can we not remember that broken toy that Michael Jackson was with lines like: “Tan fácil como ABC / Tan fácil como 1,2,3 / No me importa la fama y me importa también” (It’s easy as ABC / As simple as 1, 2, 3 / I don’t care about the fame but I care about the fame).

Another immediate, danceable song to sing along with and shout at the top of your lungs. It makes it clear, once again, what a state of grace – both musically and conceptually – PUTOCHINOMARIC&Oa [ Read more ]

Just a few days ago we gave you the advance single “soy un idiota”, and we continue bringing you the songs that are included on “pasadas de moda”, the second album from PUTOCHINOMARICÓN’s tetralogy “Segundos Minutos Horas Días”. “pasadas de moda” is an imaginary album from the artist dadá, a nepo baby, who yearns for viral recognition, inspired by the Billy Wilder movie, “Sunset Boulevard”. In fact, the cover of “tu padre es un facha y tu madre una terf” is reminiscent of Joe Gillis’ body when it is found floating in Norma Desmond’s pool after having been murdered. The bare butt is censured by a red star like in gossip magazines, showing how celebrities’ bodies are perverted nowadays to the point that they are objectified even in death.

The song “tu padre es un facha y tu madre una terf” specifically leaves behind the electro and synth-pop style that this new album from Chenta explores, and to do so it includes the collaboration of Iñaki Mendoza on guitar and Fabiana Giménez Barraz on drums. They recorded in the “Estudios Lagartija”, with the Chilean sound engineer Pablo Gálvez Cataldo. Also representing Chile is Chenta’s inseparable travel companion Ignacio Redard, who is back to do the mixing and mastering on this new PUTOCHINOMARICÓN album, and in this occasion also coproduces th [ Read more ]
