“Bucles infinitos”, is the title track of LINDA GUILALA’s debut album and it’s the starring song of the group’s second video-clip. The video was filmed and directed in Australia by the multifaceted Christopher Kenworthy. Chris has spent the past 10 years working in film and television, has written scripts, has directed and produced shorts and documentaries, has published more than 600 articles and stories, more than 1600 of Chris’s photos have been published, he has written two novels and the best-seller “Master Shots”, which was number one in sales, in Cinematography, on Amazon for more than seven months. He is a character with a curious curriculum that ranges from documentaries about extraterrestrials (“Australian UFO Wave” has been seen by more than six million earthlings online) to his most recent big project, his first film “The Sculptor”, which is a supernatural thriller that we at Elefant will tell you about very soon, now that Christopher is an unconditional TREMBLING BLUE STARS fan and six of the songs from the London group’s latest album, “The Last Holy Writer”, are included in the movie.

Fascinated by the sounds and atmospheres of LINDA GUILALA, Christopher has constructed a spectacular video-clip that mixes the disturbing lyrics of “Bucles Infinitos” with the duo’s personal tastes and esthetic preferences. It is a multi-colored and imaginary world full [ Read more ]

"Ópera egipcia" is the eight album by the band from Granada and the first studio album since the 2007 release of "La leyenda del espacio". The album will be out on April 13th and will consist of 12 songs, among them, ‘No sé como te atreves’ and ‘La veleta’, both of which LA BIEN QUERIDA’s Ana Fernández-Villaverde sings on.

In a recent interview, Ana told us how this collaboration came to be and talked a little about the songs she collaborated on:"I’ve known them for a long time and they are one of my favorite groups”. One of the songs is a duet, “No sé cómo te atreves” and the other, “La Veleta”– I sing it alone – is a beautiful sevillana. They’ve been doing this for a long time and they really know how to keep it quality; they are exemplary"

“No sé cómo te atreves”, one of the songs LA BIEN QUERIDA collaborates on, has been chosen as the album’s first single. You can get the song in digital format starting on March 2nd.  [ Read more ]

Directed by Nadia Mata Portillo (also, with Federico Strate Pezdirc, responsible for CORAZON’s video-clip “Nuevo Futuro "), “Corpus Christi” is a great song that charms its listeners into falling in love, maybe one of the most beautiful declarations of love every sung. Nadia has done great work, she knows how to perfectly capture the mood of the song, the words describe a “moment of anger”, as Ana herself tells us, and the images manage to amplify the emotional impact even more. It’s a work of art in its purest form, able to communicate the most touching emotions. It’s an example of good taste and another gorgeous video for our collection. Though it seems incredible, this is the second video-clip by Nadia, one of our favorite audio-visual artists who will show us, little by little, in her coming video-clips, her enormous talent, her sensitivity and her good work.

“Corpus Christi”, taken from LA BIEN QUERIDA’s acclaimed debut album, was filmed in the sierra of Navacerrada, in an enigmatic location, the Santo Angle hospital, also known as “La Barranca” (the ravine). Two buildings, one for the anti-tuberculosis sanitarium where pulmonary illnesses were treated, and the other building was the psychiatric ward for mental illnesses. It is currently totally abandoned, but all of the mysterious stories that go around about the place, and the paranormal activity, make daring adventurers in search of [ Read more ]

Guille Milkyway: "Winning a Goya was out of my world"

• The music vindicates independence and musical self-sufficience • The soul of La Casa Azul is profoundly grateful to their fans

YOU CAN SEE THE VIDEO OF GUILLE RECEIVING HIS GOYA HERE:http://www.rtve.es/noticias/20100215/guille-milkyway-ganar-goya-estaba-fuera-mundo/318000.shtml

The seventies styled pop rumba of Guille Milkyway, central song of the movie,Yo, también, directed by Álvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro, took the Goya for Best Original Song and the Catalan musician was not expecting it, “nothing further from my imagination and my world”.

Dressed for the occasion in a black polo and a striped tie, the “engine” of La Casa Azul told us that “he had not thought absolutely anything” about his outfit but that he was in the mood for “a special touch”, a more personal way of dressing that, in the end, almost without wanting to, distinguished him a bit from the prevailing style.

Clothes apart and asked about the strategic future positioning the Goya would have in his house he joked, “I will keep it safely in a drawer, well, maybe that sounds a little extreme, doesn’t ití I don’t know where I’m going to put it".

Milkyway told us, live through his Twitter and for RTVE.es <http://twitter.com/guillemilkyway> , about the moment they gave him the [ Read more ]

On Saturday 23th January took place in the Real Casa de Correos in Madrid an event for all final candidates to the Goya Awards 2010. Guille Milkyway, nominated to the Goya to best original song written exclusively for the movie "Yo, también [Me, too]," came from Barcelona to attend the event with Lola Dueñas and Pablo Pineda, main actors of the film.

They appeared simply dressed and spent the entire morning in this formal act where Álex de la Iglesia greeted them cordially. We recorded a little video that after a little editing, we want to share with you all.

In the category of Best Original Song: “Yo También”

Each new piece of news related to Guille or LA CASA AZUL is a true bit of joy for their fans and followers. Lately it’s becoming more and more common that the news about them is about important goals in independent music and almost unique and unheard of achievements in the history of pop music in our country. After the intensity of these last years, both on the national and the international level, Guille goes even further with his Goya nomination. Whether he wins the prize or not, the fact that the song was nominated is in and of itself a well-deserved recognition of his musical talent and magnetism, a formula that is capable of crossing indie-borders, and not only in terms of music but also in terms of making a massive public fall in love, totally captivated by highly addictive melodies and lyrics.

This past Saturday, January 9th, the Goya nominees were announced. The movie "Yo, Tambien", directed by Álvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro, and produced by Manuel Gómez Cardeña, Koldo Zuazua and Julio Medem, has been nominated for four prizes by la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España (the Academy of Art and Cinematographic Sciences of Spain) whose gala, hosted by Buenafuente, takes place in Madrid this coming February 14th. The categories in which "Yo, Tambien" is nominated are: Best Leading Actress (Lola Dueñas [ Read more ]

Hello Everyone!Another year has passed, a special year for us as we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the label, and we did it the best way we know how: releasing a ton of good music. We put out 22 new releases in total – 13 albums and 9 singles. It was an intense year in every way it could be and a year in which a little bit of everything that can happen, happened. And despite all of the problems that the music world is going through we managed to survive another year and we are full of hope and excitement about 2010.

We are aware of the requests and the things that fans of the label are most worried about and we are working hard on all of it in order to try to have everything organized and updated in the first few months of the new year, so that it is easier to be up to date with everything that’s happening with our groups and our label. We’ve been working on the new Elefant website for the last few weeks, a new website that will maintain a similar design to the old website, but that will be much easier to use, much more intuitive, faster, and clearer. Yes, we are getting rid of Real Audio and you’ll be able to listen to the songs without having a player installed, and you’ll be able to change quickly and simply from the site in Spanish to the site in English from any page. We’re also going to have our new Elefant On-line store with great improvements. We’re closing deals to be able to have the entire catalog available on Spoti [ Read more ]

The debut album of THE SCHOOL and one of the prestigious "Rough Trade" compilations on which they also appear are finally about to be released! If they did it the first time with “All I Wanna Do” on the “Counter culture 08” this time they’re doing it with "And Suddenly" on “Indiepop 09”, an incredible version of one the the latest compositions by LEFT BANKE that was originally published on the Split single with GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN on Slumberland Records.

This disc is an authentic breath of fresh air and the more than palpable confirmation of the Revival that’s been going on lately of 80s and 90s indiepop, and of what was defined as C-86 after that mythic Cassette published by NME titled “C-86” that included songs from some of the most interesting indie groups of that year (THE PASTELS, SHOP ASSISTANTS, McCARTHY, WEDDING PRESENT, SOUP DRAGONS, PRIMAL SCREAM…). Elefant Records was an important part of that movement, not only through the release of indiepop groups from all over the planet; at Elefant we organized concerts in Spain for HEAVENLY, THE PASTELS, STEREOLAB, THE FRANK AND WALTERS, BMX BANDITS…, but Elefant was also the distributor in Spain for mythic labels like Sarah Records, Subway Records, Setanta Records, Bus Stop, Sunday Records, K Records, Slumberland Records, Parasol, A Turntable Friend, Heaven Records, Marsh Marigold Records, Tea Time Records…

HIDROGENESSE have made two remixes of LA BIEN QUERIDA’s song 9.6. One of them was included on the single “9.6 (versiones)” that we at Elefant recently released, and the other can be heard now on HIDROGENESSE’s Myspace page. The two remixes are really different: “French Hot Dog” is comical, brief and stubborn, while “RendezVous Américain” is cosmic, long and indecisive. [HIDROGENESSE]

The first remix is included on the CD-Single “9.6 (Versiones)” together with Guille Milkyway’s remix of LA CASA AZUL, the original version included on the album and the demo version.

You can listen to both remixes con HIDROGENESSE’s Myspace page.http://www.myspace.com/hidrogenesse
