Sergio Rodríguez and Marta Quintana are keeping up their intense discographic activity. In addition to their debut Mini-LP, their Digital Singles, and that magnificent album (“Todo Se Repite”) they have released since they got started in 2018, we are adding a new and imminent full-length with the same title as the song that is coming as an advance, “Siempre Igual”, and that we are bringing you today. Once again, they are focusing on what is special and unique about what they have to offer: the mix of songs that are so easy to dance to, between disco and techno-pop, perfect choruses, with lyrics that alternate between real and surreal, and an important philosophical position. “El miedo a equivocarnos / Me hace hacerlo todo mal / Ese error / Nos tiene alejados / Como una oscura señal” (Fear of making a mistake / Makes me do everything wrong / That mistake / Separates us / Like a dark signal). The music video, directed again by Antonio Máiquez (who again honors his important role in the group’s audiovisual work), reinforces this idea: lights, cars, undefined spaces, that symbol of the infinite that appears everywhere and that is incessantly erased. This is multifaceted work, equal parts reflexive and enjoyable, a highly inexplicable rara avis, like a wormhole that carries us from one dimension to another in less than a millisecond.

AIKO EL GRUPO continues to give us advance tracks from their highly anticipated new album. With this one, we’ve got five so far. “Peñacastillo” starts off with simple, rustic tones, but quickly turns into one of the most savage compositions we have heard until now. Unleashed punk-pop, immediacy, spitefulness, full of rage and aggressiveness. A jolt of energy running through the body at full speed. All of this is reflected in the music video, once again directed by GRAPA, where we can see the band playing the song, creating a kind of protective shield around the musicians, like guardians harshly scolding the video’s viewers.

They are the Rrriot-punk dream come true. The quartet formed by Tere, Bárbara, Lara and Jaime released their first Mini-LP, “Va totalmente en serio…”, in 2020 and it sold out almost immediately. Their songs are fun, with a lot of personality and full of shameless acid humour. Their live show, forceful and spidic, makes an impact. With the distortion pedal on 11, with a lot of strength and an unstoppable attitude, they are a steamroller of youth and freshness.

Since their first release they have been very well received by the public, who sing their choruses wherever these girls perform. With a large number of concerts behind them, they can boast of having played at festivals such as Primavera Sound (Barcelona), Tomavistas (Madrid) and the historic Contempopranea in Extremadura. They have several sold outs to boast of and have also accompanied established bands such as MUJERES or CAROLINA DURANTE.

If you don’t want to miss them, apart from the concert they will be giving with PIPIOLAS in Madrid, AIKO EL GRUPO will be touring many places in Spain, thanks to the fact that they have been selected in the GPS (Girando Por Salas) call. They are a whirlwind of energy; a bomb of youth and charisma and you can’t miss them. [ Read more ]

AIKO EL GRUPO and PIPIOLAS join forces in a concert that promises many surprises.

Tickets HERE

On 5 February in Madrid, one of those planetary conjunctions that happens once in a long time will take place, a musical event that promises to be overwhelming and that is set to be an essential date this winter: the concert by AIKO EL GRUPO and PIPIOLAS as part of the Inverfest festival in Madrid.

Two of the bands from our label that have had the longest run in the past year and that have given us the most to talk about join forces to remind us that they are here stomping their feet and that they don’t intend to stop. The concert will take place at Lula Club and will start at 20:30h. Tickets are still available, but considering the streak they boast, we guess it won’t be for long.

While we wait for CARABALLO’s imminent debut album with Elefant Records, we continue to pull out some of the incredible pieces that are going to be a part of it. Now we have “Tu Puñal”, with that acoustic guitar accompanied by that percussive keboard, the layers of voices reciting, “Nadie llega al corazón / Es de piedra” (Nobody touches the heart / It is made of stone) andthose lines that make something inside you break as soon as you hear them. “No puedes romper / Algo que ya fue / Partido en pedazos una y otra vez / Por mucho que claves / Tu puñal” (You can’t break / Something that was already / Smashed in tiny pieces again and again / No matter how deep you push / Your dagger). And those layers of synthesizers, showing off Carlos’ ability to create a warm cushioning of sound, close, intimate, evocative. And another music video from Bandiz Studio where they also play with textures and focuses, our protagonist singing or walking through the city at night, trying to find a way to transmit that feeling of warmth, light, that there is someone special who has something to tell us.

A few weeks ago, we told you about the imminent arrival of the LISASINSON’s upcoming new album, and as a new teaser we presented “Últimamente”. Now, we’re back with a new advance single – the fourth so far – for “Un Año De Cambios”, a highly anticipated album that will be here very soon.

“Cuchillos” gives us the very essence of LISASINSON: energy, immediate melodies, distortion, punk spirit… But we also have more detailed production work (thanks to Carlos Hernández), more complex guitar layers and more meticulous arrangements. The resultí A new, furious hit, with lines like “Últimamente me parezco a Lucifer / Capulla, orgullosa y difícil de querer” (Lately I am just like Lucifer / A jerk, proud and hard to love), powerful, immediate, and it comes with a “Visualizer” directed by Miguel Yubero. Eloquent and straightforward, knives in the air, knives on the floor, knives stabbed in tables and chairs, and the deadpan stare of our protagonists, tension that could be cut with a knife and a chorus like a mortal wound.

Ya saben, calienten tobillos y ca [ Read more ]

Elefant Records continues to be a source of sound material for filmmakers, and the latest proof is “La Amiga De Mi Amiga”, the debut film of Zaida Carmona (yes, the one who sang “La Llamada” with PAPA TOPO in Marc Ferrer‘s film “La Maldita Primavera”), which celebrated its presence on 1 February at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, as part of the Bright Future section. Two days later, on 3 February, and coinciding with the premiere in commercial cinemas in Spain, we are releasing the soundtrack just with the Elefant songs that appear in the movie, which in this case features SOFT REGIME, AIKO EL GRUPO, LISASINSON, JULIE ET JOE, BAND À PART, Giorgio Tuma, NOS MIRAN and FITNESS FOREVER. What a great selection! And as a gift we include in our edition the original version of “Lady Dilema” by Carlos Berlanga, which in the film is covered by Aroa Ay, from SHEGO. The film also features songs by MALAMUTE, MASONIERÍA (the solo project of Sonia, from PAPA TOPO), Rocío Saiz and CHRISTINA Y LOS SUBTERRÁNEOS. In fact, Christina Rosenvinge herself makes a cameo in the film.

“La Amiga De Mi Amiga” is a generational story, as Zaida herself says: “a five-way lesbian comedy of entanglement”, a story about women who love a lot, but love badly. A project that arises from the need to consolidate and reaffirm positive queer and/or feminist references, filmed in eleven days, wit [ Read more ]

The third single from what is going to be their second album, in this imminent 2023. And the third hard hit. Unstoppable. AIKO EL GRUPO stay true to their irreverent punk spirit, insolent and unbiased. “Sexo Fender (Cenicero)” has those impossible rhymes (“me huele el pelo a cenicero”) (my hair smells like an ashtray), those stories full of energy and good vibes, that crescendo into shouts and distortion at the end. Energy in its purest form. Like the kind that closes the music video for the song, directed again by the GRAPA collective (which AIKO’s Teresa and Bárbara are a part of, along with their friend Jorge Pesquera), in which the group wakes up in a strange house and experiences uncomfortable and absurd situations. They move through disgust, incredulousness, partying, the unpredictable and the flat-out comic. Everything blows up when that typical annoying guy gives them unsolicited advice that makes them explode. What’s coming is going to be huge. Those of you who have jumped and danced through their concerts know it. Very soon, in 2023, the world will no longer be the same.

Every year comes with new challenges, with new hopes and excitements, new albums, new groups. But it is also comforting to look back at the end and see if we did everything we planned, and if all our plans met our expectations. And of course, they did. Albums that should have really taken off and others that did unexpectedly. But above all, one-of-a-kind artists, the kind we believe in so deeply, and who continue to surprise and excite us. 2022 was the year when PUTOCHINOMARICÓN went above and beyond all the limits of a conceptual, philosophical and anti-philosophical, and stylistically groundbreaking album. The year when Bobby Wratten, with his LIGHTNING IN A TWILIGHT HOUR, reached the skies again and was recognized by critics and audiences the way he deserves to be recognized, with a series of very special, very limited-edition releases. The year when MARINITA PRECARIA and AMOR BUTANO released full-lengths that proved how special and unique what they do is. The year we danced to the beat of Italo Disco with Cristina Quesada (with the blessings of Joe Moore). And when Maria Rodés broke our hearts with her trembling voice and indescribable delicacy. When we reclaimed psychedelia and that slippery figure of Jupiter Apple. And please let’s not forget that marvelous debut from those geniuses of melancholic pop and shoegazing, BUBBLE TEA AND CIGARETTES. And a ton of releases in different formats from AIKO EL GRUPO, Soleá Morente, THE HEPBURNS, TRONCO, N [ Read more ]

To enter rebe’s world is to enter a dangerous but thrilling universe that is equal parts murky and sweet, uncomfortable and disturbing. Each new song is like one of those dirty secrets of state that only a lucky few know. And the latest one is in “hasta el fin…”, a song that she produced herself, and that was arranged by OTRO (Aaron Morris). And we already know what that means: lysergic stylings and pop, Alfonso Santisteban and Marisa Medina, Bebu Silvetti and Jane Birkin, possession and spitefulness. And the video, created by both rebe and OTRO, reflects this perfectly: the visual esthetic of the seventies (those greys, those hazy flashes), the makeup and the decoration as a doll were walking through that classic Spanish small-town fair. And then she sings, “Dice mi madre que desde que te veo / Me duele la tripa, se me enreda el pelo / Dicen que desde que bebí de tu boca / Yo me volví loca” (My mom says that since I saw you / My stomach hurts, my hair is in knots / They say since I drank from your mouth / I have gone crazy) and you fall completely under her spell and that way she has of talking about the deepest, most addictive love, “Mete tu mano debajo de mi falda / Juntos estaremos hasta el fin / Besa mi pelo, tócame la cara” (Put your hand under my skirt / We’ll be together till the end / Kiss my hair, touch my face). Since her last single, “Marisol”, she mixes her whispers with the m [ Read more ]

The synergies that the Valencian Toxic Pop collective is causing throughout Spanish territory are notable. The latest is the collaboration with NEVVER, which among other incredible results has given us this remix of their song “Amaneciendo Y Anocheciendo”. We had already highlighted the original version of the song (included on the last album “999”) as a shift toward more danceable territory from the Madrid-based trio, and LEFTEE has taken it even closer to the center of the dance floor. The remix has also affected the video by Daniel Cuenca, and in this new version he reinforces the contrasts – between black and white, between moments of euphoria and introspection. Because it is tremendously strange to dance with infinite energy to that chorus that repeats like a prayer or a mantra: “Por las veces que me han hecho daño” (For all the times I have been hurt). But it reaches us and it fills us up. And we can’t stop dancing.
