Nino Bravo “En [By La Casa Azul] es un proyecto de homenaje a la figura del cantante valenciano cuando se cumple el 40º Aniversario de su fallecimiento.

La idea de este proyecto es partir de unas composiciones y arreglos geniales que en su época eran totalmente modernos (Algueró, Calderón, Torregrosa) y actualizar ese sonido puntero ya en su día a finales de los años 60, comienzos de los 70, dándole un tratamiento respetuoso al original pero con tecnología y medios de 2013. “1991-2001” is a 20-song compilation – of which two songs are completely new and were just recently recorded – that sums up the 10-year span of AUTOMATICS’ existence. That is, this is a summary of one of the most important independent Spanish pop groups of the 90s. Clifford Records, our friend Laureano’s label, is in charge of the release of this double-vinyl, 500-copy limited edition that is simply a sonic artifact.

This will not be the only time we collaborate with Clifford Records; there will be more compilations and re-releases, but we can talk about that later on. For now, we want to talk about AUTOMATICS, who split up in August 2001 after releasing a wonderful CD-Single with three songs produced by Carlos Hernández and with the vocal collaboration of LOS PLANETAS’ J. The single foretold a powerful fourth album that they ultimately never recorded, leaving the demos for those songs lost in a box. AUTOMATICS had such an impressive live show and they showed it off again and again in all the most important festivals in our country. There were stellar moments, like at Adrenalin Village in London with nine other European groups for the MTV Eurobaschhh competition, which was broadcast via internet all around the world and where the group proved themselves to be on the same level as the nine best European groups. One of the stories that made up part of the puzzle that ultimately became that marvelous pop opera called “BMX BANDITS In Space” was the narration of an almost perfect night: a person feels his wounds begin to heal after meeting a girl at a BELLE & SEBASTIAN concert, enjoying the snow in Glasgow, and feeling enough warmth to get through it. “Beautiful Friend” hides real things and things that Duglas T. Stuart wishes were real; maybe that’s why the song has become, after “Listen To Some Music” and “All Around The World”, the newest single from the Scottish band’s latest album. The Madrid-based duo of Javi Román andCoral Rodriguez did it again with that marvelous 10” vinyl mini-LP called “La Aventura Original” that we put out a few months ago. Toward the end of 1997, Jimmy Tamborello got in touch with Elefant Records to talk about remixing some songs from the “Space Rock Melodies” album by AUTOMATICS.

In the spring of 1998, the compilation “Supermarket” was released, and it included his remix of “Too Shy”. Jimmy Tamborello has been one of the key characters in understanding international electronic pop for the last 13 years. He has participated in so many different projects, some notable ones include DNTEL, FIGURING, HEADSET, and, most famously, THE POSTAL SERVICE.

Jimmy Tamborello formed THE POSTAL SERVICE with Ben Gibbard from DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, and they released only one album, “Give Up”, on February 18th, 2003. This year was the ten year anniversary of the album’s release, one of the highest selling albums in the history of the Sub Pop label.

To celebrate this rerelease and the imminent release of the AUTOMATICS compilation "1991-2001" (Double LP/Digital Album), we are giving away this special remix that has become more valuable over time, since it’s possibly one of the first remixes Jimmy ever made. Enjoy!!!

Queridos Luis y Montse,

No nos conocemos, pero para mí sois como esos profesores que te dejan huella y que recordarás siempre. Sí que os he visto en festivales, vendiendo vuestros discos o en alguna fiesta en Siroco. Pero como buen fan tímido jamás se me ocurriría acercarme a dar la brasa. Lo he hecho con otros, pero debe ser que los respeto menos.

Os escribo esta carta para daros las gracias. Acabo de recibir la reedición en vinilo de “Un soplo en el corazón”, ese disco tan de culto que ya se ha convertido en un cliché decir que es el disco de tu vida, pero que sin duda ha educado musical y sentimentalmente a media escena indie, al menos a aquellos que pasamos los 30. Tan de culto es, que ya empiezan a aparecer las voces en contra, aquellos Indies Verdaderos que no soportan los mitos más allá de sus propias habitaciones, esas personas grises que gustan de ladrar cuando algo se escapa de su pequeña cápsula de conocimiento exclusivo. Bien por vosotros, bien por Family y mucho mejor para todos. Cuanto más Family, mejor.
